Category talk:Candidates for speedy deletion
Add topicPending technical problem resolution
[edit]There are currently some technical problems with the wiki software that prevent deletions of some pages. The developers are aware of this and might have a fix for the problem within the next month or two. I am starting a list of pages that cannot currently be deleted so that these pages can be rapidly deleted once the problem is solved. -- Kalki 15:37, 18 Mar 2005
To be deleted:
- Gouti, Sammy
- 1776. Non-quote link for legitimate play. Jeff Q 01:56, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- 1942. Empty page created from use of currently unsupported date links. Jeff Q 02:02, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Tupac Shakur/ Shakur, Tupac. Malformed article title; quote content already at Tupac Shakur. Jeff Q 02:38, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Carelessness. Anon test page blanked by same. Jeff Q 04:05, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Packphour. Self-proclaimed vanity page. Gave advice to anon on how to login & create User page. Jeff Q 04:54, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
NOTE: This list has been superceded by Category:Pending deletions, which automatically includes all failed speedy deletes, as long as sysops follow Wikipedia (and Wikiquote beta) procedure by adding the {{pending deletion}} tag before attempting to delete the article. — Jeff Q (talk) 03:05, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Deletion process
[edit]While deleting these candidates, I've been following the Wikipedia policy of replacing {{delete}} or {{db}} with {{pending deletion}}, protecting them, removing any links to them, and then deleting them. When the block-compress error comes up, I think this leaves them in a desirable state: protected against further mischief, and no longer on the Speedy deletion list (which keeps the list down to only those articles that we can do something about). Let me know if I'm misunderstanding anything about the process, or if it should be done differently. — Jeff Q (talk) 05:05, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Policy on framework articles
[edit]I'm proposing that we not tag, for speedy deletion, any more articles that appear to be a legitimate framework for a quote article, even if they have no quotes. I've started a discussion about this at Wikiquote talk:Deletion policy#Policy on framework articles. Please post comments there to avoid duplication. — Jeff Q (talk) 19:46, 5 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Should we try to get the above pages out of CAT:CSD? I can't think of a way right now to get them out. It's a bit confusing to those who check the category as the above pages aren't supposed to be speedy deleted. – RyanCross (talk) 01:52, 19 November 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea. I have been holding off from improving (fixing) Wikiquote:Template messages or creating similar pages because of just this problem. Your question prompted me to just read up on how to achieve this at 'pedia. I will make a stab at it over the next couple of days ~ Ningauble 18:59, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, I have done this for Wikiquote:Template messages and it seems to be working. Within a day or so, I will document the method, announce it at Village Pump, and apply the solution to more of the maintenance templates. ~ Ningauble 02:00, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- Alright, thanks. – RyanCross (talk) 02:36, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
