Daughter of the Dragon is a 1931 American film about a Chinese princess who gets caught between the ruthless warlord Fu Manchu and a handsome secret agent.

Directed and written by Lloyd Corrigan, based on the novel by Sax Rohmer.

Dialogue

Fu Manchu: My flower daughter.

Ling Moy: My honored father.

Fu Manchu: May your days be laughing songs. And may the blood of your father course warmly in your veins, for within the hour he will be gathered to his revered ancestors.

Ling Moy: No, no! I've only just found you, noble father.

Fu Manchu: [At a gesture from Fu Manchu, a gong sounds as servants pull back a curtain to reveal a dragon on the wall] The emblem of the great house of Fu! As a child you cried yourself to sleep over its tragic fairy story. Know at last, my daughter, the story is true! The mother and brother, murdered by a Petrie, were yours. Yours is the noble house of Fu.

Ling Moy: Then, you?

Fu Manchu: I, your father, am Fu Manchu.

Ling Moy: [She recoils, then embraces him as he totters] Live, live, divine father!

Fu Manchu: Infamous father! I sent you away, into the occidental world, to keep you from me until I should deserve your homage. But instead, you now witness my shame. Great spirit beyond, I come to you crawling in the dust.

[He kneels and attempts to genuflect]

Fu Manchu: Death lays his hands upon me, and my sacred work is unfinished. A Petrie still lives! The dishonor is burned upon my forehead.
