Reverend Rosenkrantz
[edit]- O Almighty God, hear us, we beseech Thee, and bring succor and guidance to those we are about to bring to Your divine notice. First we are thinking of Mary Walaber. She is only 16 years old, but she is keeping company with a soldier from Fort Dayton. He's a Massachusetts man, and Thou knowest no good can come of that.
- Any man failing to report to duty will be promptly hanged. Amen.
Mrs. McKlennar
[edit]- Your thoughts are your own property, Martin, but keep them to yourself.
- Barney McKlennar was a real man. When he kissed you, you stayed kissed!
- I've a long face, and I poke it where I want.
Other
[edit]- Innkeeper: [to Gil and Lana about Caldwell] And that patch over his eye - I bet he lost it trying to see something that was none of his business.
Dialogue
[edit]- Dr. Petry: [Colonial Army troop marches into the fort with the new 13 colony American flag] Where are you men going?
- Commander of Colonial Troops: Home.
- Dr. Petry: Home?
- Commander of Colonial Troops: The war's over. Cornwallis surrendered to Washington at Yorktown last week.
- Dr. Petry: [All look at the new flag] So, that's our new flag. The thing we've been fighting for---13 stripes for the colonies and 13 stars in a circle for the Union.
- Lana: It's a pretty flag, isn't it?
- Adam Hartman: Hey soldier, let me take that flag a minute! We did a little fightin' around here ourselves.
- [Ward Bond walks the flag up the ladder and it's lifted onto the church bell tower. Indian Blue Back salutes the flag]
- Gilbert Martin: [turns to his wife] Well, I reckon we better be gettin' back to work. There's going to be a heap to do from now on.
- [They turn and walk out of the fort]
