Garfield (video game)
Garfield is a 2004 video game based on the comic strip of the same name, developed by The Code Monkeys and published by Hip Games.
Dialogue
[edit]- Jon: Garfield?! Garfield, where are you?! [he finds Garfield sitting in the armchair] There you are! I'm very angry with you! This is your last warning! You scratched my favorite chair! [Garfield looks at one of the chair's arms; it has claw marks on it; Jon holds up an empty glass pan with lasagna stains at the bottom] You've eaten my carefully prepared lasagna!
- Garfield: [rubs his stomach and smiles] Mmm.
- Jon: [holds up a shredded fancy purple suit on a coat hanger] And now, my favorite suit has been shredded! And don't try to blame this on Odie, Garfield. He would never do anything like this. Garfield, if one more thing gets eaten, scratched, or shredded, I will put you on a diet. I'm leaving now. I'll be back at 5:00. I've left a list of chores for you to do on the fridge. [at the door] Remember what I said. I really mean it this time, Garfield.
- Garfield: Gee. I hate seeing Jon upset like that. Just kidding! [pulls out the remote and turns on the TV] Okay, now I'm ready for a little "me" time! [Binky the Clown is on TV; disgusted] Ugh! Not Binky the Clown! [changes the channel to a cooking show; happy] That's better! A favorite! A cooking show! Mmm.
- [While Garfield was busy watching TV, he suddenly hears crashing noises and Odie barking. Garfield jumps out of his seat and looks around. Much to his shock, he sees that Odie has made a mess of the house.]
- Garfield: Odie! What have you done?! Jon's gonna put me on a diet now, and I don't want to go on a diet! Think, Garfield, think. There has to be some way to clean up this mess before Jon gets home. But how?
- [Odie is licking a vacuum cleaner that is sitting on the floor.]
- Garfield: The vacuum cleaner! Odie, you're a genius! [in disbelief] What am I saying?
- [In the cutscene where the player loses the game, Jon has returned home. He pushes open the door. He looks around and sees the house is still a mess. He places his hand on his left cheek with exasperation. When Garfield sees Jon comes home, his mouth opens wide with panic. The camera zooms in on Jon's angry face as he yells at Garfield.]
- Jon: GARFIELD!!!
- [In the cutscene where the player wins the game, Jon and Garfield are eating in the kitchen.]
- Jon: Wow, Garfield! The house looks cleaner than when I left this morning! I didn't think you could do it. As a matter of fact, you did such a great job, I'll have to give you more chores to do. [Garfield is shocked to hear this, and flops down in his lasagna pan; Jon laughs] I'm joking, Garfield.
