Hometown (or home town) is the city or town where one grew up, or the place of one's principal residence. It is not to be confused with birthplace, although the two can be the same place.

Quotes[edit]

  • There is a reason why I came back to this place—came back here instead of to Canelli, Barbaresco or Alba. It is almost certain that I was not born here; where I was born I don't know. There is not a house or a bit of ground or a handful of dust hereabouts of which I can say: "This was me before I was born."
  • That you need a village, if only for the pleasure of leaving it. Your own village means that you're not alone, that you know there's something of you in the people and the plants and the soil, that even when you are not there it waits to welcome you.
  • Round my hometown, memories are fresh
Round my hometown, ooh, the people I've met
Are the wonders of my world
    • Song "Hometown Glory" by Adele Laurie Blue Adkins [1].
  • Home town, where the garden trees are shady
That's where Edie was a lady
I'm going back to see those corny country cousins of mine
    • Song "Home Town"; sung by Flanagan and Allen [2].
  • I've been looking for freedom
    I've been looking so long
    I've been looking for freedom
    still the search goes on
    I've been looking for freedom
since I left my home town.
    • Song "I've Been Looking For Freedom"; sung by David Hasselhoff [3].
  • They have the time
    The time or their life
    I saw a man
    He danced with his wife
    In Chicago, my home town.
