Dialogue

[edit]
Rerun Van Pelt: Someone at school today asked me if I had an older brother who dragged a blanket around. "No," I replied. "I'm an only child." Then someone said, "But don't you have a weird older sister?" "No," I insisted. "I'm an only child." And so I go, day after day, dodging questions from curious outsiders.
Lucy Van Pelt: What else did they say?
Rerun Van Pelt: Some of the guys over at the playground were discussing crabby sisters. Guess what, I won. They all agree that I have the crabbiest sister in the neighborhood.
Lucy Van Pelt: I'm a celebrity. [to Linus angrily] You think I'm crabby now?! Wait until I'm 40 or 50.
Rerun Van Pelt: What about when you're 90?
Lucy Van Pelt': Then I'll be real nice.
Rerun Van Pelt: The trouble with being a little kid is no one ever asks your opinion about anything.
Lucy Van Pelt: [getting annoyed and points to Rerun's bedroom] Why don't you stop talking and just go to bed?
Rerun Van Pelt: Are you asking for my opinion? [starts writing]
Lucy Van Pelt: What are you writing, Rerun?
Rerun Van Pelt: This is how I have it figured. If there are three kids in a family, each kid has 33 and a third rights.
Lucy Van Pelt: [takes the paper from Rerun] Wrong, little brother. It's 90 percent for me and 5 percent for you. And 5 percent for you.
Rerun Van Pelt: I better check those figures again.
Lucy Van Pelt: We're a family. And in a family, each person has a job.[hands Rerun a paper] Here, write down what you think your job could be.
Rerun Van Pelt: [questions Lucy] How do you spell "watching"?
Lucy Van Pelt: [gets annoyed] Watching?
Rerun Van Pelt: That'll be my job, watching TV.
Lucy Van Pelt: [furiously snatches the paper from Rerun] Remember, Rerun, having an older sister is like having a compass to guide you through life.
Rerun Van Pelt: Is that true?
Linus Van Pelt: I'm not here.
Lucy Van Pelt: [enragedly gets up from the couch, furiously turns red and angrily screams at Linus and Rerun] How can I be expected to live in the same house with two brothers?! [angrily leaves]
Rerun Van Pelt: [shrugs to Linus] What kind of question was that?
Linus Van Pelt: Big sisters are the crabgrass in the lawn of life.
Rerun Van Pelt: I'm your younger brother and I don't suck my thumb, and I don't cling to a blanket for security.
Linus Van Pelt: Hooray for you.
Rerun Van Pelt: As the years go by, you'll probably develop a real resentment toward me.
Linus Van Pelt: [angrily covers Rerun's mouth]
Rerun Van Pelt: [muffled] And you'll find different ways to get even.
Lucy Van Pelt: [walks to Rerun] What would you do if I kicked those over?
Rerun Van Pelt: Probably nothing at the moment. But years from now, after you're married, and you and your husband want me to cosign a note, so you can buy a new house, I'll refuse.
Lucy Van Pelt: [turns red in anger and furiously groans]
Rerun Van Pelt: Younger brothers learn to think fast. If you're the third child in a family and your brother and sister are really weird, I wonder if it's possible for that third child to develop an immunity. An immunity to all the bad things that happen in a family. To that innocent third child who might...
Lucy Van Pelt: [furiously turns red, viciously grabs Rerun by the cuff of his shirt and angrily kicks him out of the house]
Rerun Van Pelt: So much for immunity.

Lucy Van Pelt: Listen to me. Mom doesn't want you to have a dog, does she?
Rerun Van Pelt: No.
Lucy Van Pelt: Do you really think Santa Claus is going to bring you something Mom doesn't want you to have?
Rerun Van Pelt: Ooh... Supreme Court stuff.

Violet: You're asking our family to adopt this dog?
Charlie Brown: Why not? He's Snoopy's big brother. He's a good dog. He's a full-blooded beagle.
Violet: That's what you say. I say he's part beagle and part disaster.
Charlie Brown: He's been living just outside of Needles with a bunch of coyotes.
Violet: I think I'd rather have one of the coyotes.
