Mötley Crüe, 2008

Mötley Crüe was an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles, California, on January 17, 1981. The group was founded by bassist Nikki Sixx, drummer Tommy Lee, lead singer/rhythm guitarist Vince Neil and lead guitarist Mick Mars. The members of the band have often been noted for their hedonistic lifestyles and the persona they maintained. Following its hard rock and heavy metal origins, with the third album Theatre of Pain (1985) the band joined the first wave of glam metal.

Song lyrics[edit]

All lyrics written by Nikki Sixx, except as noted.

Too Fast for Love (1981)[edit]

  • No, no
    You better turn me loose,
    You better set me free.
Because I'm hot, young, running free,
A little bit better than I used to be.
  • Living on a jet,
Making love to someone else's dreams.
    Say it again.
    She puts her leg up.
    Well, calls it good luck.
Do you know what I mean?
    Do you remember?
    Well I remember.
    • Too Fast for Love

Shout at the Devil (1983)[edit]

  • He's the wolf screaming lonely in the night,
He's the blood stain on the stage.
He's the tear in your eye,
    Been tempted by his lie.
  • Now listen up
    She's razor sharp.
If she don't get her way,
    Well, she'll tear you apart.
Now she's a cool, cool black
And she moves like a cat.
If you don't get her game,
You might not make it back.
  • You say our love
    Is like dynamite.
    Open your eyes,
    It's like fire and ice.
    Well you're killing me,
    Your love's a guillotine.
Why don't you just set me free?

Theatre of Pain (1985)[edit]

  • You know that I've seen
    Too many romantic dreams,
    Up in lights,
    Falling off the silver screen.
My heart's like an open book
For the whole world to read.
    Sometimes nothing
    Keeps me together
    At the seams.

Girls, Girls, Girls (1987)[edit]

  • Kneel down you sinners to streetwise religion,
Greed's been crowned the new king.
Hollywood dream teens, yesterday's trash queens
Save the blessings for the final ring, amen.
  • Trick or treat, sweet to eat
On Halloween and New Years Eve.
Yankee girls you just can't be beat,
But they're the best when they're off their feet.
  • The blade of my knife
    Faced away from your heart.
    Those last few nights
It turned and sliced you apart.
    This love that I tell
    Now feels lonely as hell
    From this padded prison cell.

Dr. Feelgood (1989)[edit]

  • He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood.
He's the one that makes ya feel alright.
He's the one they call Dr. Feelgood.
  • He'll tell you he's the king
    Of these Barrio streets,
    Moving up to Shangri La.
Came by his wealth as a matter of luck,
Says he never broke no law.
Two time loser running out of juice,
    Time to move out quick.
    Heard a rumour going round,
    Jimmy's going down,
    This time it's gonna stick.
    • Dr. Feelgood
  • When I get high
    I get high on speed
    Top fuel funny car's
    A drug for me
    My heart, my heart
    Kickstart my heart
    Always got the cops
    Coming after me
    Custom built bike doing 103
    My heart, my heart
    Kickstart my heart
  • When we started this band
All we needed, needed was a laugh
    Years gone by...
I'd say we've kicked some ass
    When I'm enraged
    Or hittin' the stage
    Adrenaline rushing
    Through my veins
And I'd say we're still kickin' ass.
    • Kickstart My Heart
  • Ooo, ahh, kickstart my heart
    Hope it never stops
And to think, we did all of this...
    To rock
    • Kickstart my Heart
  • Without you in my life
    I'd slowly wilt and die.
But with you by my side,
    You're the reason I'm alive.
But with you in my life,
    You're the reason I'm alive.
  • All, all around the world,
    Girls will be girls.
It's the same old, same old situation.
It's the same old, same old ball and chain.
  • Seasons must change,
    Separate paths, separate ways.
If we blame it on anything,
Let's blame it on the rain.
    I knew it all along
I'd have to write this song.
Too young to fall in love,
Guess we knew it all along.

Decade of Decadence 81-91 (1991)[edit]

  • Scream and shout,
    Rip that mother out.
    You just gotta say "hey"
    Primal scream and shout.

Mötley Crüe (1994)[edit]

  • Everybody wants a piece of the action,
Everybody wants a piece of the pie.
  • Oh life it's misunderstood them,
    So they close their eyes
    And dream of better days.
    Oh life it's misunderstood yeah.
Life's not always fair or so they say.

Generation Swine (1997)[edit]

  • Do you, do you want to bleed?
Do you, do you want to live in vain?
  • Decked out like an hourglass,
    Ammonia and a razor blade.
Things were just okay until she
    Fell in love with cocaine.

New Tattoo (2000)[edit]

  • Bashful Betty such a bondage brat,
Dressed in latex and coated in sewer rats.
    A serpent's tongue, calculating mind,
Gets top dollar for the hip shake divine.
    Look to the sky,
    There's no rain in sight.
    Better wear your rubber boys
If Betty is your date tonight.
  • Tonight I saw your face up in the stars
Stumbled here to paint you on my arm.
There's something that I need to say to you,
    So I wrote this song.
    Because you belong
Right here on my new tattoo.

Saints of Los Angeles (2008)[edit]

  • We are, we are the saints, we signed our life away.
Doesn't matter what you think, were gonna do it anyway.
We are, we are the saints, one day you will confess
And pray to the saints of Los Angeles.
