Maze Runner: The Death Cure (also known simply as The Death Cure) is a 2018 American dystopian science fiction action film about young hero Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) who embarks on a mission to find a cure for a deadly disease known as the "Flare". It is the sequel to the 2015 film Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials and the third and final installment in the Maze Runner film series.

[Voiceover as Thomas reads the letter] Dear Thomas– this is the first letter I can remember writing. Obviously, I don't know if I wrote any before the Maze. But even if it's not my first, it's likely to be my last. I want you to know that I'm not scared. Well, not of dying, anyway. It's more forgetting. It's losing myself to this virus, that's what scares me. So every night, I've been saying their names out loud. Alby, Winston, Chuck. And I just repeat them over and over like a prayer, and it– and it all comes flooding back. Just the little things like where the sun used to hit the Glade at that perfect moment right before it slipped beneath the walls. And I remember the taste of Frypan's stew. I never thought I'd miss that stuff so much. And I remember you. I remember the first time you came up in the Box, just a scared little Greenie who couldn't even remember his own name. But from that moment you ran into the Maze, I knew I would follow you anywhere. And I have. We all have. If I could do it all over again, I would. And I wouldn't change a thing. And my hope for you– is when you're looking back years from now, you'll be able to say the same. The future's in your hands now, Tommy. And I know you'll find a way to do what's right. [Jorge: Do you know this guy?] He was an old friend.

It's been a few years, but– I've been there. The Last City. That's what WCKD called it. It was their whole base of operations. If that city is still standing, that's the last place you wanna go, hermano. That's the Lion's Den.
[Thomas: Jorge, how do we get in?] Don't look at me, hermano. Those walls are new. I guess that's WCKD's answer for everything. [Brenda: Well, we ain't gonna figure it out from up here. Let's go!]

Janson

[WCKD soldier: We're searching the area, but they're probably long gone by now.] Oh, no, they're not going anywhere. He didn't get what he really wanted.
Lock down the building, send everyone up to 20, and someone shut off those GODDAMN SIRENS! [WCKD Soldier: Yes, sir.]
[After shooting Paige in the back and stabbing Thomas in the neck with a tranquilizer dart] Oh, Thomas– you should've run.
Do you know what this place is, Thomas? It's a lifeboat. And the whole world might be sinking, but– it doesn't mean that we have to go down with it.
[Thomas: Why don't you just kill me?] Kill you? No, we don't wanna do that. We're gonna take special care of you. We'll keep you alive. Just. And in return– you will give life to the rest of us. The ones we choose to save anyway. Of course, there's not gonna be enough for everyone. Hard choices are gonna have to be made. In time, the Flare virus will burn itself out. The only question is, who will be the ones left standing? And thanks to you, to this, we finally get to choose. A future of our own making. [Rolls up his sleeve to reveal black veins on his left arm, then gets ready to inject the serum with Thomas' blood in it into his left arm] To your health. [Gets hit in the head with a glass flask by Teresa and falls to the floor unconscious]

Rose took my nose, I suppose.
Do you know what I am– Thomas? I am a businessman– which means that I don't– take– unnecessary risks.

All right, listen up. I know you've all been through hell. I wish I could say our troubles are over– but we're not through this yet. WCKD's still out there. They're not giving up. 'Cause you got something they want. They took you because you're immune to a plague that's wiping out the human race– and they think you're worth sacrificing to find a cure. Well, I don't. So in two days, when we get this tub of rust seaworthy, we're getting the hell outta here. We're gonna go to a place where WCKD will never find you. A place you can start over. A place you can call home.
We have come a long way together. So many have sacrificed– so much to make this place possible. Your friends– and your family. [Newt: How? H-h-how is this possible? We watched you die.] No, you left me to die. And if we hadn't found you when we did, you'd be dead right now.

Am I missing something here? This is the same girl who betrayed us, correct? Same dick?
You can't save everyone, Thomas. [Thomas: I can try.]

Dr. Ava Paige

Because things are changing, and not for the better. Infection rates were up 300%. Fortunately, we may be on the verge of a breakthrough. This is Subject A7. He spent over three years in the Maze Trials. The antibodies produced in response have been the strongest we've ever seen. We're extracting a new serum as we speak, and with your support, we'd like to begin human trials.
[Last words] I promise. I will–

Dialogue

[Thomas makes his way into the building where the jeep is being parked where he is stopped by Newt.]

Newt: [To Thomas] Where do you think you're going then? [Turns on the lamp on the table]

Thomas: [Sighs] Newt–

Newt: [Steps towards Thomas] Don't be a twat about it. I'm already in. [Takes Thomas' bag] Come on. [Puts Thomas' bag in the back seat of the jeep]

Thomas: No. No, not this time. Look, even if we find Minho, there's no guarantee we'll make it back from this.

Newt: Well, you'll need all the help you can get then, won't you? [Opens the jeep door to reveal Frypan in the driver's seat, then turns back to Thomas, leaning against the jeep with his arms crossed] Well, we started this together. May as well end it that way, too.

Thomas: [Nods, deciding to take Newt and Frypan with him to rescue Minho] Okay. Let's go get him back.

[Thomas, Newt, and Frypan drive out of the building in the jeep.]

[Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge are brought inside the garage of an abandoned mall by a crew wearing gas masks.]

Gally: [To Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge] Everybody relax. We're all on the same side here.

Thomas: [To Gally] What do you mean "same side"? Who the hell are you?

Gally: [Takes off his mask and reveals his face to Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge] [To Thomas] Hey, Greenie.

Thomas: [Steps forward, seeing that Gally is alive, enraged] [To Gally] Gally?

[Newt briefly gazes at Gally, then glances at Frypan, whose gaze remains on Gally. Brenda and Jorge's gazes remain on Gally, as they are bewildered to see someone they've never seen before.]

Frypan: [Also seeing that Gally is alive] No way.

[Losing control of his ferocity and savagery, Thomas subjects Gally to a punch in the face, sending him to the ground, with Gally unprepared for Thomas' rage, and causing shouts of protest to break out. Thomas gets on top of Gally to try and beat him up. As Brenda stands in horror and Jorge tries to plead with Thomas not to beat up Gally, the crew point their guns at Thomas. Newt rushes towards Thomas and Gally to try and stop the former from beating up the latter.]

Gally: [Tries to stop Thomas from beating him up] [To Thomas] [Gally fails] Stop! It's all right, it's all right!

Newt: [Kneels beside Gally's left side and grabs Thomas' arm to stop him from beating up Gally] [To Thomas] Whoa, whoa, whoa! Stop, stop! Stop it! Stop.

Thomas: He killed Chuck.

Newt: Yeah, I know. I know. I remember. I was there, too, all right? But I also remember that he was stung and half out of his mind. [Glances around the crew pointing their guns at him, Thomas, and Gally, then turns back to Thomas] Just calm down, all right? Come on.

[Reluctantly accepting that Newt is right, Thomas angrily stands up and backs away from him and Gally. Newt stands up as well.]

Gally: [Stands up and rubs his jaw that Thomas punched] Kinda had that coming. Anybody else? Fry? Newt?

Jorge: [To Frypan] Do you know this guy?

Frypan: [To Jorge] He was an old friend.

Newt: [To Gally] How? H-h-how is this possible? We watched you die.

Gally: [To Newt] No, you left me to die. And if we hadn't found you when we did, you'd be dead right now. What the hell are you doing here?

Newt: Minho. WCKD has him here. We're looking for a way in.

Gally: I can help with that. Follow me. [Starts to lead the way]

Thomas: [Speaks up before Gally can lead the way, causing Gally to stop and turn around to him] [To Gally] I'm not going anywhere with you.

Gally: [To Thomas] Suit yourself. But I can get you through those walls.

[Newt briefly gazes at Gally, then glances at Thomas, whose gaze remains on Gally, knowing he has no choice but to go with him, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge to meet Lawrence.]

[Gally leads Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge down a ramp.]

Gally: [To Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge] After the Maze, I got picked up by a group headed to the city. They realized I was immune, patched me up, and they brought me here to Lawrence.

[Once down on the ground, Gally leads Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge through the mall. Along the way, Jorge eyes a room full of weapons and explosives.]

Gally: This group's been at war with WCKD ever since they took control of the city. But WCKD can't hide behind those walls forever. Day's gonna come, and they're gonna pay for what they've done. [Stops walking and turns to face Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge, prompting them to stop] Listen, he doesn't get a lot of visitors. So, let me do the talking, all right? And try not to stare. [Walks ahead]

[As Gally walks ahead, Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge glance at each other, knowing that Gally is their only chance to rescue Minho.]

[Thomas, Newt, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge arrive in a room. They go down the stairs leading down into a makeshift den complete with bookshelves, framed art, and an indoor garden. Gally reaches the bottom first. As Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge reach the bottom, Gally puts down his mask and submachine gun on a table and goes to Lawrence. As Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge look around the room, Thomas follows Gally to Lawrence.]

Lawrence: [To Lawrence] Gally– glad to see you made it back. Jasper told me what happened.

Gally: It was a slaughter. There's nothing we could do against those guns.

Lawrence: No– but they can only poke the hornet's nest so long before they get stung. [Smells a rose] Now, who are these people? Why are they here?

Thomas: [To Lawrence] We need to get into WCKD. Gally said you can get us through the walls.

Lawrence: Gally should know better than to make promises that he can't keep. Besides, that wall is only half your problem. [Takes his IV stand and drags it to his left side] Getting inside WCKD is impossible.

Gally: [To Lawrence] There might be a way now– but it doesn't work without Thomas.

[Thomas glances at Gally.]

Lawrence: [To Gally] Is that so? [Approaches Thomas] [To Thomas] Do you know what I am– Thomas? I am a businessman– which means that I don't– take– unnecessary risks. Why should I trust you?

Thomas: Because I can help you. You see, if you can get through those walls– I'll get you what you need.

Lawrence: And what is it– that you think I need?

Thomas: Time. Every last drop.

Lawrence: [Glances at Gally, then gazes at Thomas] Is that what I need?

Thomas: WCKD has something we both want.

Lawrence: I'll tell you what. Two can go for now. The rest stay down here with me. Just a little insurance to make sure you find your way back. We have a deal? [Holds out his hand]

[With that, Thomas shakes Lawrence's hand.]

Lawrence: [Chuckles, to Gally] Gally, show him the way.

[Gally opens a manhole cover leading down to the tunnels. As Gally goes to take a ladder, Frypan crouches down at the edge of the hole. As Gally lowers the ladder into the hole, Brenda stands gazing down at the hole.]

Jorge: [To Thomas] Be careful, Thomas. [Thomas pats him on his right arm]

Frypan: [Speaks up before Gally can climb down the ladder] [To Gally] Gally– [Gally turns to him] –take care of these two.

Gally: Yeah. [Climbs down the ladder]

[As Gally climbs down the ladder, Newt sits down to adjust his pant leg into his shoe, but notices his right hand shaking, then turns to gaze at Thomas climbing down the ladder.]

[Thomas, Newt, and Gally are using flashlights to walk through the wet tunnel floor.]

Newt: [Groans, disgusted by the tunnel water] This is gross.

Thomas: [Also disgusted by the tunnel water] Jesus. Yeah, this is great.

[Gally flips a switch on a generator that turns on the light bulbs that are strung down the tunnel walls.]

Gally: [To Thomas and Newt] Stay with me. We got a ways to go.

[Thomas, Newt, and Gally continue walking through the tunnels. Along the way, Thomas surveys the curved brick walls.]

[WCKD tower: Teresa is looking through a microscope when the WCKD scientist enters, causing Teresa to gaze up at him.]

WCKD scientist: [To Teresa] We're ready.

[Teresa enters the medical wing. As Teresa makes her way through the medical wing, she passes by the Cranks, who are pounding against the glass doors that are keeping them separated from everyone else. Teresa approaches Cheyenne, who is infected with the Flare and lying on a bed.]

Teresa: [To Cheyenne] Chey?

Cheyenne: Hi, Miss Teresa.

Teresa: Hey.

[Teresa nods to a doctor, who cleans Cheyenne's arm.]

Teresa: How are you feeling?

Cheyenne: Okay.

[Another doctor gives Teresa an injector with Minho's blood in it. Teresa takes it.]

Cheyenne: [Glances at the injector in Teresa's hand] Is that gonna make me better?

Teresa: I hope so. Do you remember the story you were telling me? About the house you grew up in?

Cheyenne: I don't remember.

Teresa: The one by the lake?

[Teresa injects the injector into Cheyenne's arm. Cheyenne starts wincing in pain.]

Cheyenne: It burns.

Teresa: I know. I know.

[Teresa pulls out the injector from Cheyenne's arm and gives it to the doctor. The doctor takes it.]

Teresa: There we go. All done. You're so brave.

[Cheyenne stops wincing in pain as the veins on her skin start to fade and the red in her eyes starts to turn white. Janson is walking down the hall. He finds Paige, who is standing in the hall, watching through one of the lab windows as Teresa and Cheyenne converse with each other. Janson approaches Paige.]

Janson: [To Paige] Oh, that is incredible. How soon can you administer to the infected?

Dr. Ava Paige: You show a lot of compassion for someone who just opened fire on a crowd.

Janson: You told me to do my job. I had a shot. I took it.

Dr. Ava Paige: And missed, apparently. The patrols never found a body. Thomas is still out there.

Janson: What about her? Does she know?

Dr. Ava Paige: No. She can't. I need her to stay focused.

[Paige and Janson watch through one of the lab windows as Teresa and Cheyenne converse with each other.]

Dr. Ava Paige: Elevate security levels throughout the city. I'm counting on you to handle this, Janson.

[A door labeled "Warning: Electrical hazard. Authorized personnel only. WCKD" opens a crack – it was opened by Gally. He peeks out to look around, then walks out of the door and into a busy transit terminal, where a crowd of people wearing face masks are already there, with Thomas and Newt behind him. Thomas, Newt, and Gally make their way up a set of stairs and across a pedestrian square. They stop at another set of stairs and see the tall skyscrapers of the Last City.]

Newt: [Gazes at the Last City] This is a long way from the Glade.

[Thomas, Newt, and Gally hear a woman's voice broadcasted throughout the city.]

Female Announcer on PA: Fifteen minutes to mandatory curfew. Please proceed home in an orderly fashion. Remember, this is for your safety. Thank you for your compliance.

Gally: [To Thomas and Newt] Yeah, we better get off these streets. And I know it's hard, but– act like you've seen it before.

[As Gally goes down the stairs, Thomas and Newt share a gaze with each other before following Gally down the stairs. Later, a WCKD patrol car drives down the street. Once it passes, Thomas, Newt, and Gally run across the street and towards a WCKD food center. They press their backs against a storefront glass wall to hide from another WCKD patrol car that passes by them.]

Gally: They've definitely upped security. I'm guessing you shanks have something to do with that. All right, let's get outta here. [Runs across the crosswalk, with Thomas and Newt following behind]

[Thomas, Newt, and Gally arrive at a concrete wall.]

Gally: [To Newt] All right, Newt, you're up. [Gives Newt a boost up the wall, then offers to do the same to Thomas]

Thomas: [Refusing to let Gally give him a boost up the wall] [To Gally] I got it. [Jumps up, grabbing the wall and hauling himself up]

[As Thomas climbs up the wall after Newt, Gally glances around to see if anyone was watching, then climbs up the wall after Thomas and Newt.]

[Thomas, Newt, and Gally arrive at a balcony overlooking the city. The WCKD tower is shown from a distance.]

Gally: [To Thomas and Newt] [About the tower] There it is. If WCKD's got Minho, that's where they're keeping him. [Takes out a telescope from its hiding place and positions it on a bar sticking off a railing. He aims it at the tower] Lawrence has been trying to find a way in for years. [Gazes at the WCKD tower through the telescope] Place is crawling with soldiers. They got surveillance everywhere. Scanners on every floor.

Newt: [To Gally] Sounds like a bloody fortress.

Thomas: [To Gally] Yeah, I thought you said you had a way in.

Gally: I might.

Thomas: "You might"? What the hell do you mean "might"?

Gally: [Steps back from the telescope] Take a look.

[Looking through the telescope, Thomas sees a male nurse in a lab, then see Teresa in a neighboring lab, writing on a clipboard. Thomas takes his eye off the telescope, but his gaze remains on Teresa, realizing that Gally wants to use her to get into the WCKD tower.]

Gally: [To Thomas] I said I had a way in. [Thomas turns to him] I didn't say you were gonna like it.

[Thomas gazes at Gally, then turns to gaze at the WCKD tower.]

[Lawrence's hideout: Thomas, Newt, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge are gathered around a table going over plans to use Teresa to get into the WCKD tower.]

Thomas: [To Gally] No, there's gotta be another way.

Gally: Like what? You've seen the building. She is our only way in.

[While Thomas and Gally are talking, Newt sits gazing at a helmet on a table.]

Thomas: You really think she's gonna help us?

Gally: I don't plan on asking for her permission.

Brenda: [Exasperated] [To Thomas and Gally] Am I missing something here? This is the same girl who betrayed us, correct? Same dick?

Gally: [Smirks a little at Brenda's quip] [To Thomas] I like her.

Brenda: [To Thomas] What's going on?

Newt: [Enraged] [To Thomas] What, are you afraid your little girlfriend's gonna get hurt? Hmm? This has obviously never been just about rescuing Minho, has it?

Thomas: What– What are you talking about?

Newt: Teresa. She's the only reason that Minho's even missing in the first place. Now we finally have an opportunity to get him back. And what? You don't want to because of her? Because deep down inside, you still care about her, don't you? Just admit it.

Thomas: Newt I–

Newt: [Slams Thomas against a wall in far more ferocity and savagery than before, shocking Thomas, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge] DON'T LIE TO ME!!! DON'T LIE TO ME!!! [Stares at Thomas in rage until he calms down, releasing Thomas] [To Thomas] [Remorseful] Sorry. [To Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge] I'm sorry. [Leaves]

[As Newt leaves, Thomas, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge watch on, concerned over Newt's outburst, then gaze at each other in concern.]

[Newt is sitting on a rooftop alone when Thomas approaches him.]

Newt: [To Thomas] Sorry about that back there. [Gazes at his right arm] I guess I can't hide this anymore. [Rolls up his sleeve to reveal black veins on his right arm]

Thomas: [Crouches down next to Newt, concerned] Why didn't you tell me?

Newt: Didn't think it would make any difference. All I know is that WCKD must have put me in that Maze for a reason. Maybe it was literally just so they could tell the difference between Immunes like you and people like me.

Thomas: You know we can still fix this, Newt. Okay? We can.

Newt: Don't worry about me. This is about Minho. Now he needs us. So if there is even the slightest chance that we can save him, we can get him out of there, then we have to take that. No matter what the cost.

Thomas: Okay, I hear you.

[Newt pulls down his sleeve. Thomas and Newt gaze up at the Last City's walls before them and the skyscrapers rising up just beyond them.]

[Two WCKD soldiers, one of whom is holding chain cuffs, enter a cell where Minho, tranquil and silent, is lying on a bed.]

WCKD soldier: [To the other soldier] Let's get him up.

[Bringing Minho into a room where Teresa is, the two WCKD soldiers sit Minho down opposite Teresa, then walk out.]

Teresa: [To Minho] Minho. Can you hear me? There's a little girl here. Her name's Cheyenne. She's been infected for three weeks now. But, Minho– you're going to save her. And you can save so many others. Everything we're doing here– it's working. Do you understand? That's why this is so important.

[Minho just sits looking tranquil and silent.]

Teresa: [Gets up] I just wanted you to know.

Minho: [Calls out to Teresa before she can leave] Teresa.

Teresa: [Turns around] Minho? [Approaches Minho] Minho?

Minho: [Breaks from his tranquil and silent state] YOU'RE A TRAITOR!!! [Grabs Teresa and slams her down on the table, then pulls her up] WE TRUSTED YOU!!! [Slams Teresa down on the table again]

[As the two WCKD soldiers run into the room, Minho grabs Teresa's metal hair clip. As the soldiers restrain Minho, Teresa gets up.]

Minho: GET OFF ME!!! GET OFF ME!!! I'LL KILL YOU!!! YOU TRAITOR!!! YOU KILLED THEM ALL!!!

[As Teresa closes the doors, the soldiers taser Minho. As Teresa presses her back against a wall to catch her breath, a nurse rushes over to her, causing Teresa to turn to the nurse.]

Nurse: [To Teresa] Teresa, they need you in the med lab. It sound serious.

[Teresa and the nurse head down the hall. Teresa approaches Paige.]

Dr. Ava Paige: [To Teresa] I'm sorry, Teresa.

[Teresa and Paige watch through one of the lab windows as Cheyenne, who has become a Crank, fights off two men in far more rage, violence, and aggressiveness than before, who are wearing hazmat suits and trying to restrain her, while the WCKD scientist, also trying to restrain her, injects an injector into her arm.]

Dr. Ava Paige: [To Teresa] It's not your fault. You did everything you could.

[Overcome with sadness, Teresa walks away, with Paige watching on.]

[Teresa has followed Thomas into an alley.]

Teresa: [To Thomas] Thomas.

Thomas: Hey, Teresa.

Teresa: You shouldn't be here. If Janson finds out you're here–

Thomas: I'm not staying. It's just– I had to see you. I have to ask you something. Do you regret it? What you did to us?

Teresa: Sometimes. But I did what I thought was right. I'd do it again.

Thomas: Good.

[Thomas glances behind Teresa. Gally appears from behind Teresa and puts a sack on her.]

Dr. Ava Paige: [To Janson] Beautiful, isn't it?

Janson: Yes. It's a lovely city.

Dr. Ava Paige: The walls. It's amazing what people can accomplish when their survival's at stake. Squeeze them hard enough there's nothing they can't do. No line they won't cross.

Janson: You've had a bit of a setback. It's nothing we're not used to.

Janson: Okay– we can handle this. We just need to evacuate essential personnel, set up at another safe zone further north. We've still got twenty-eight Immunes right here inside this building. We can find more.

Dr. Ava Page: You would. You'd hunt every last one of them down till there was no one left. In spite of everything we've done to them– everything we've put them through– at least we gave them the tools they'll need to survive. Maybe they'll succeed where we failed. [Gets up]

Janson: Are you really telling me that you're giving up? After everything?

Dr. Ava Paige: It's not about giving up, Janson. It's about knowing when you've lost.

[Paige walks away, with Janson watching on.]

[Thomas and Gally have brought Teresa to a candlelit church where Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge are. Thomas and Gally sit Teresa down on a chair. Newt pulls the sack off Teresa and goes to sit on a chair next to Thomas, who is sitting on a another chair. Gally, with his arms crossed and a folded paper in his hand, is leaning against a table. Frypan is standing behind Thomas behind the same table. Brenda is playing a card game at another table. Jorge is standing behind the first table.]

Teresa: [Seeing that Gally is alive, but Thomas, Newt, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge already knew] [To Gally] Gally?

Gally: [To Teresa] Here's how this is gonna go.

[As Gally drops the paper on the table, Frypan leans against the first table behind Thomas.]

Gally: We're gonna ask you some questions– and you're gonna tell us exactly what we need to know. [Gets up] We'll start off simple. [Takes a chair] Where's Minho?

Teresa: [Gazing at Thomas] [To Thomas] You guys don't seriously think–

Gally: [Slams the chair down in front of Teresa and sits on it backwards] [To Teresa] Don't look at him. Why you looking at him? Look at me. He's not gonna help you.

[As Teresa glances at Thomas and then gazes at Gally, Jorge goes to sit at another table opposite Brenda.]

Gally: Now, we know you have Minho in the building. Where?

Teresa: He's with the others in holding. Sub-Level Three.

Newt: [To Teresa] How many others?

Teresa: Twenty-eight.

[Gally glances at Brenda, then turns back to Teresa.]

Brenda: [To Teresa] I can make that work.

Teresa: [To Thomas, Newt, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge] No, no, you guys don't understand, the whole level's restricted. You can't get in without a thumbprint ID.

Thomas: [To Teresa] That's why you're gonna come with us.

Gally: [Shrugs] [To Thomas] Well, I don't know. We don't necessarily need her, [Gets up] right? [Puts aside the chair and walks over to the first table] Not all of her. [Picks up a scalpel] We just need her finger.

Thomas: Gally, back off.

Gally: What are you, squeamish? [Gestures at Teresa with the scalpel] I guarantee you she's done a lot worse to Minho.

Thomas: [Gets up] That's not the plan. Back off. [Takes the scalpel from Gally, who goes to lean against the first table]

Teresa: [To Thomas] It won't make a difference. Do whatever you want to me. You still won't get through the front door. The sensors will pick you up the–

Thomas: We know. We're tagged. Property of WCKD. [Approaches Teresa and crouches down beside Teresa's right] You're gonna help us with that, too. [Holds up the scalpel in front of Teresa]

[Teresa sits behind Thomas. She picks up a scalpel from a tray of other medical instruments on the first table.]

Teresa: [To Thomas] Try to relax. This is gonna sting.

Thomas: Let's just get it over with.

[As Teresa uses the scalpel to make an incision on the back of Thomas' neck, Gally and Frypan, whose trackers are already removed from the back of their necks by Teresa, are wiping the back of their necks with gauze.]

Gally: [Removes the now blood stained gauze from the back of his neck] [To Frypan] She enjoyed that. [Tosses down his gauze on the table]

Frypan: You're probably right.

Newt: [Approaches Gally and Frypan with WCKD soldier jackets] [To Gally and Frypan] Here. See if these fit. [Gives Frypan one jacket, then tosses Gally the other jacket]

Gally: [Catches the jacket] [To Newt] Thanks.

Frypan: [Takes the jacket] [To Newt] Thanks, Newt.

[Newt takes off his jacket and prepares to put on his own WCKD soldier uniform.]

Brenda: [Approaches Jorge] [To Jorge] Better get going, old man. [Tosses Jorge the keys. He catches them] Long road ahead of you.

Jorge: You sure I can't talk you out of this? It's your last chance.

Brenda: You know, it's not like you to shy away from a fight.

Jorge: And it's not like you to go looking for one. I just can't help but think if I walk out that door, I'm never gonna see you again. Since when do we go sticking our necks out for strangers?

Brenda: I was a stranger once, too.

[Brenda puts her hands on Jorge's shoulders and they gaze at each other, breathing in and out.]

Brenda: Just don't leave us hanging.

Jorge: No. Never.

[Brenda and Jorge hug. Once they finish, Jorge walks out, with Brenda watching on. As Jorge walks out, Teresa, while using tweezers on the back of Thomas' neck, turns to glance at Brenda, while Gally, while finishing getting ready, takes a pistol and starts loading it.]

Teresa: [To Thomas] She's looking good. Healthy. How've you been getting her serum?

Thomas: What are you talking about?

Teresa: Brenda. I didn't think she'd still be alive. When was her last treatment?

Thomas: At the Right Arm. The last time we saw you.

Teresa: But that was months ago. [Pulls out Thomas' tracker from the back of his neck] Thomas, that's not possible. She should've turned by now. There's no way she could possibly still–

Thomas: All right, that's enough. [Gets up, puts aside the chair, and walks away]

Teresa: [Gets up] You don't believe me?

Thomas: [Turns around and faces Teresa] You really expect me to? You made your choice.

Gally: [Approaches Thomas and Teresa, having already finished getting ready] [To Thomas] Everything okay over here?

Thomas: [Glances at Gally, then turns back to Teresa] [To Gally] Yeah. Yeah, we're done. [Walks away]

[Teresa starts to pick up a scalpel from the table.]

Gally: [Grabs Teresa's hand before she can pick up the scalpel] [To Teresa] Nice try.

[As Gally escorts Teresa outside, where Newt and Frypan are already waiting outside, having finished getting ready, Teresa secretly takes a piece of bloody gauze from the table. Thomas approaches Brenda, who is wiping a pistol with a cloth. He puts on a utility belt.]

Brenda: [To Thomas] You were in love with her, aren't you?

Thomas: [Takes a WCKD soldier jacket and puts it on] I don't know.

Brenda: Just be careful. You sort of have this problem where you can't walk away from people– even when you should. [Inserts a magazine into the pistol] You can't save everyone, Thomas. [Gives Thomas the pistol]

Thomas: [Takes the pistol from Brenda] I can try.

[As Brenda walks away to finish getting ready, Thomas cocks the pistol.]

[Thomas, wearing a WCKD soldier uniform and helmet and holding a Launcher, and Teresa enter the lobby of the WCKD tower.]

Thomas: [To Teresa] Don't stop.

[Thomas and Teresa walk through security scanners, which blink from red to green. As they make their way through the lobby, they walk past two WCKD soldiers. Thomas and Teresa come face to face with Newt, also wearing a WCKD soldier uniform and helmet and holding a Launcher. Newt has entered the lobby of the WCKD tower before Thomas and Teresa entered. Newt jerks his head for them to follow him and walks ahead. Thomas and Teresa gaze at each other before following Newt. They make their way down a staircase and into a corridor with a glass wall running along a parking garage. As Thomas, Teresa, and Newt make their way through the corridor, Gally, also wearing a WCKD soldier uniform and helmet and holding a Launcher and having entered the WCKD tower through a parking garage, walks alongside Thomas, Teresa, and Newt through the other side. He surges ahead to enter through a doorway to the corridor and smoothly cuts in front of Thomas, Teresa, and Newt. While leading the way, Gally briefly glances back at Thomas, Teresa, and Newt. Thomas, Teresa, Newt, and Gally arrive at a security door. Teresa uses her thumbprint ID to open the door and she, Thomas, Newt, and Gally walk into a stairwell.]

Thomas: [To Teresa and Newt] Go, go, go.

[As Thomas, Teresa, and Newt make their way down a stairwell, Gally approaches electrical boxes.]

Gally: [To Thomas, Teresa, and Newt] Hold on, hold on. [Feels the third electrical box] I can get in here. [Lifts up his helmet]

Thomas: [Lifts up his helmet, to Teresa] Stay there. [To Gally] Throw me the walkie. [Gally tosses him a walkie-talkie. He catches it]

[Teresa sits down on a step and Newt leans over the stairwell railing. As Thomas goes down the stairwell. Newt lifts up his helmet and starts coughing, with Teresa watching on. Newt notices and turns away from Teresa. As Gally starts cutting open the electrical box door using a handheld circular saw, Thomas walks back up the stairwell and makes his way over to the door he, Teresa, Newt, and Gally just entered.]

Thomas: [On his walkie-talkie] [To Frypan] Frypan, we're in. How you doing?

[Outside, Frypan, also wearing a WCKD soldier uniform, is climbing up a ladder leading up into a crane.]

Frypan: [On his walkie-talkie] Yeah. Yeah, I'm getting there. Tell Minho "Hi," for me.

Thomas: [Over Frypan's walkie-talkie] Hang in there, buddy.

[Inside...]

Gally: [Pulls open the electrical box door and gazes at the wires with labels on them] [To Thomas] This'll work.

Thomas: [On his walkie-talkie] [To Brenda] Brenda, what's your status?

[Brenda is at a parking lot full of buses hiding from two WCKD soldiers, waiting for them to leave.]

Brenda: [On her walkie-talkie] Status is, I'm working on it.

Thomas: [Over Brenda's walkie-talkie] Copy. Just make sure you're ready on your end.

Brenda: [On her walkie-talkie] Don't worry. You know I'm gonna be there. [Runs to a bus once the two WCKD soldiers outside leave]

[Inside...]

Gally: [Connects a jamming device to the wires and places it on the inside of the electrical box door] [To Thomas, Teresa, and Newt] All right, let's go. [Closes the electrical box door]

[Lawrence's hideout: Lawrence's crew get a signal from Gally on a computer screen.]

Member of Lawrence's crew: [To Lawrence] We got a signal.

Jasper: [To Lawrence] Gally did it. We're in.

Lawrence: Good. Give me everything. I want full control.

[Sub-Level 3: Two WCKD security guards discover that their security system is being hacked by Lawrence's crew.]

WCKD security guard: [To the other two guards] That's funny. System's glitching.

WCKD security guard: [To the other two guards] [Takes his Launcher] I'll go check it out. [Heads towards the door]

[The WCKD security guard uses his thumbprint ID to open the door. The door opens to reveal Thomas, Teresa, Newt, and Gally on the other side of the door. Thomas fires a taser round at the guard, knocking him down, then start firing more taser rounds at the other guards alongside Newt and Gally. In a cell, a group of Immune teenagers hear the noise and duck for cover near their bunks. An Immune teenage boy inches towards the cell door when Newt appears in front of the vertical window, causing the boy to back away.]

Newt: [Pulls open the door, then takes off his helmet to reveal his true identity to the group of Immune teenagers, much to their relief] [To the group of Immune teenagers] Come on, let's go. Come on.

[As the group of Immune teenagers walk out of the cell, Thomas, having also taken off his helmet, pulls open another cell door, allowing another group of Immune teenagers to walk out of it.]

Thomas: [To the second group of Immune teenagers] It's okay. You guys are okay. Come on. Come on, let's go. [To Newt] Newt, check the other cell. [To Newt] Come on, you guys are okay. [To the same group of Immune teenagers] Come on.

[Having also taken off his helmet and put it on the table, Gally crouches down in front of the WCKD security guard, gets him up, and points a pistol at his neck.]

Gally: [To the WCKD security guard] The vault. How do I get in?

WCKD security guard: You can't.

[Getting an idea, Gally releases the guard, causing him to fall to the floor, then goes over to the vault door. Thomas opens a third cell door and a third group of Immune teenagers walk out of it.]

Thomas: [To the third group of Immune teenagers] Come on, guys. Come on.

Gally: [To Thomas, Teresa, and Newt] Guys. This might take some time. [Puts down his bag of his tools to get out some tools]

[Thomas approaches the cell and discovers that Minho is not in it.]

Thomas: Shit. [To Newt] He's not here. [Approaches Teresa] Where is he?

[The WCKD lab: Minho is on a stretcher being wheeled into the lab.]

WCKD scientist: [To a WCKD soldier, who is approaching him] This really couldn't wait till morning? You realize this could kill him, right? Taking this much, all at once?

WCKD soldier: I have my orders. Janson wants it all.

[While the WCKD scientist and the WCKD soldier are talking, Minho slowly wakes up and hears them talking.]

[Sub-Level 3: Gally drills into the vault door using a circular saw, then turns to glance at Thomas, Teresa, Newt, and the three groups of Immune teenagers.]

Teresa: [Shows Thomas Minho's profile on the computer] [To Thomas] Somebody's moved him up to the medical wing. Thomas, that's on the other side of the building.

Thomas: Okay, take me to him, right now.

Newt: [To Thomas] All right, I'm coming with you.

Thomas: Newt, no, you're not. You have to stay here and wait with Gally for the serum.

Newt: You can't do this on your own. Minho comes first, remember?

Gally: [Stops drilling into the vault door and turns to Thomas, Teresa, and Newt] [To Thomas, Teresa, and Newt] Just go. We're wasting time! I'll get the serum. We'll meet you out back.

Thomas: [Gives in, letting Newt come with him and Teresa] [To Teresa and Newt] Okay, fine. Let's go. Come on.

[Teresa and Newt make their way out of Sub-Level 3.]

Gally: [Calls out to Thomas before he can follow Teresa and Newt out of Sub-Level 3] [To Thomas] Hey, Greenie. [Thomas turns to him] Good luck.

[Thomas gazes at Gally before following Teresa and Newt out of Sub-Level 3. As Thomas follows Teresa and Newt out of Sub-Level 3, Gally resumes drilling into the vault door.]

Thomas: [To Teresa] How many kids do they have to round up, torture, kill? Huh? When the hell does it stop?

Teresa: It stops when we find a cure.

Thomas: There is no goddamn cure!

[Sub-Level 3: Gally, holding a sack containing the vials of serum he had taken out of the vault, closes the vault door.]

Gally: [To the three groups of Immune teenagers] Okay. We need to get outta here now. [Takes his Launcher from the table] You stay close to me. Stick together. [Approaches an Immune teenage boy and gives him the bag] [To the boy] You. You guard this with your life. You understand?

[The boy takes the sack from Gally and nods.]

Gally: [To the three group of Immune teenagers] All right. [Cocks his Launcher] Let's go!

[Gally runs out of Sub-Level 3, with the teenagers following behind.]

[Gally is leading the three groups of Immune teenagers through a parking garage.]

Gally: [On his walkie-talkie] [To Brenda] Brenda, where are you? We're here!

[Brenda pulls up in front of them in a bus.]

Brenda: [Slides open the driver's window] [To the three groups of Immune teenagers] Come on, let's go!

[Gally and Brenda load the three groups of Immune teenagers into the bus.]

Brenda: [To Gally] Wait, where's Thomas?

Gally: I was hoping he was with you.

[Brenda starts to step out of the bus, but Gally stops her.]

Gally: Wait, wait! Stay here with the kids. Wait here, just– I'll find him. [Pulls down his helmet] Just wait for us, okay? [Runs off into the parking garage]

Brenda: [Watches Gally run off into the parking garage] We're not going anywhere.

[After firing three taser rounds at three WCKD soldiers, incapacitating them, Gally takes off his helmet and reveals his face to Thomas, Newt, and Minho.]

Minho: [Seeing that Gally is alive, but Thomas and Newt already knew] [To Gally] Gally?

Gally: [To Minho] Minho. [Gazes up at the window of the WCKD tower that Thomas, Newt, and Minho jumped from, then turns his gaze back down at them] [To Thomas, Newt, and Minho] You guys are nuts. [Walks ahead]

Thomas: [To Minho] I'll explain later. [Pats Minho on his back]

[As Thomas and Newt follow Gally, Minho stands in shock over seeing that Gally is alive.]

[Thomas, Newt, Minho, – Minho who is wearing a WCKD soldier jacket. – and Gally arrive at concrete walls as the WCKD patrol cars and helicopters as the patrol cars and helicopters sweep the Last City looking for them. Thomas and Gally slide behind one concrete wall, while Newt and Minho slide behind another concrete wall near them.]

Gally: [To Thomas] Well, they're definitely pissed.

Thomas: How far are the tunnels?

Gally: Maybe 12 blocks from here.

[Thomas and Gally see Newt coughing, with Minho by his side.]

Gally: [To Thomas] We can make it.

Minho: [Crouches on front of Newt] [To Newt] Newt, how you feeling?

Newt: [Unzips his jacket] Terrible. [Pats Minho on his shoulder] It's good to see you, though.

[Minho pats Newt's hand, then goes over to Thomas and Gally.]

Minho: [To Thomas] Hey. How long has he been like this?

Thomas: He'll be okay. We just gotta get to Brenda. [Unzips his jacket, takes it off, and puts it down] She's got the serum. Come on, let's go. [Goes over to Newt to help him stand up] [To Newt] Hey, Newt. Come on, bud. We gotta get you up. Let's go.

[Newt stumbles over, but Thomas catches him.]

Thomas: Whoa, whoa, whoa! You okay?

Newt: Yeah.

[As Thomas departs into the Last City while carrying Newt, Minho turns to Gally.]

Minho: [To Gally] Why you helping us, Gally? I put a spear through your chest.

Gally: Yeah– nobody's perfect, man. [Pats Minho on his shoulder reassuringly]

[Gally follows Thomas and Newt, leaving Minho bewildered.]

[Thomas and Minho are supporting Newt, with Gally leading them, when they see the walls of the Last City exploding.]

Gally: [Worried] We're supposed to take down WCKD, not the whole damn city.

Thomas: [To Gally] [Reassuringly] Gally, come on. [Pats Gally on his shoulder]

[As Thomas and Minho depart into the Last City while supporting Newt, Gally stares at the explosion before following Thomas, Newt, and Minho.]

[Thomas, Newt, – Newt who is being supported by Thomas and Minho. – Minho, and Gally are making their way down the street.]

Gally: [To Thomas, Newt, and Minho] Tunnels are right up ahead. [Sees the WCKD patrol cars] Shit! Hey! Hey! Stay low! Stay low! Stay low!

[Thomas, Newt, Minho, and Gally duck behind a tall planter.]

Thomas: [Creeps around the planter and peers around it. He sees a WCKD patrol car pull up] Shit!

[The WCKD soldiers get into position.]

WCKD soldier: [To the other soldiers] Get ready!

Gally: [Sees the WCKD soldiers getting into position] Damn it!

Minho: [To Thomas] What are they waiting for?

[An explosion goes off behind Thomas, causing him to turn around and see Lawrence's crew running into battle.]

Gally: [To Thomas, Newt, and Minho] Get down! Get down!

[Lawrence's crew and the WCKD soldiers battle.]

Thomas: [To Newt, Minho, and Gally] Stay down! Stay down!

[During the battle between Lawrence's crew and the WCKD soldiers, Jasper fires a rocket launcher at the WCKD soldiers, knocking them down.]

Gally: [To Thomas, Newt, and Minho] We gotta go, we gotta go!

[As Lawrence's crew and the WCKD soldiers battle, Thomas and Minho rush away from the melee while supporting Newt, with Gally following them.]

[Frypan, Brenda, and the three groups of Immune teenagers, one Immune teenage boy of whom is holding the sack containing the vials of serum, run outside the building and towards a berg that has landed outside the building.]

Frypan: [Sees Vince coming out of the berg] [To Vince] Vince?

Vince: Hey, it's good to see you, too.

Jorge: [Comes out of the berg] [To Frypan, Brenda, and the three groups of Immune teenagers] Yeah, I know. I picked up a stray. Let's get out of here, all right?

Brenda: [To Jorge and Vince] We're not done yet. Thomas is still inside.

Vince: [To Brenda] Well, let's go get him, then. [Holds out his hand]

Brenda: Hell yeah. [Takes Vince's hand]

[Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, and Vince load the three groups of Immune teenagers into the berg.]

[Thomas and Minho make their way into an alley while supporting Newt, with Gally leading them.]

Gally: [To Newt] All right. Newt, we're almost there!

Newt: Just leave me.

[Thomas, Newt, Minho, and Gally are knocked down by an explosion sending a car flying across the street and crashing into another car.]

Gally: [To Thomas, Newt, and Minho] Back! Back!

[Thomas, Newt, Minho, and Gally watch Lawrence's crew and the WCKD soldiers battling, then gazes up and see the berg flying in the sky.]

Thomas: [To Newt, Minho, and Gally] Okay, that's them. It's them. We gotta go! We gotta go! [Tries to get Newt up]

Newt: [To Thomas] Go without me, man. Just– [Starts coughing and wheezing, as Thomas, Minho, and Gally regard him with concern]

[Thomas turns to Minho.]

Thomas: [To Minho] Minho– you gotta run ahead, grab the serum, and get back to us as soon as you can. Minho, go.

Gally: [To Minho] He's right. I can cover. [Pats Newt on his leg and moves away to prepare to lead the way to the berg]

Newt: [Takes Minho's hand] [To Minho] Thank you. Thank you, Minho.

Minho: Hey, you just hang on. You hear me? [Moves away to prepare to follow Gally]

[Gally runs off into the streets, with Minho behind him.]

Gally: [To Minho] Go, Minho, go!

[Thomas and Newt watch on as Minho and Gally run off into the streets.]

Thomas: [To Newt] Okay, they're through. [Stands up and gazes out a gap in a wall behind him and Newt]

[Watching Lawrence's crew running into battle, Newt, still sitting slumped against the wall, starts breathing repeatedly.]

Thomas: [Noticing Newt about to give out] [To Newt] Newt? Newt? HEY! HEY! NEWT! HEY! [Newt finally regains focus] We're gonna try this, okay? We gotta move now. Let's get you up. Come on.

Newt: No. No, Thomas. [Pulls off his necklace]

Thomas: No, Newt. Later, later. Really gotta go. Come on.

Newt: [Gives Thomas his necklace] Look, you gotta take this.

Thomas: [Tries to refuse the necklace] We gotta get you up now.

Newt: [Ferociously and savagely] NO, JUST TAKE IT!!! Please. Please, Tommy. Please.

Thomas: [Gives in] All right. [Takes the necklace from Newt and puts it in his pocket] All right, I need to give me everything you got. You and me, right now. Let's go. You ready? Come on, ready? Here we go. One, two, three.

[Thomas helps Newt up and helps him walk into the Last City.]

[Thomas supports Newt, helping him into a transit station.]

Thomas: [To Newt] We're almost there, Newt. Stay with me. Come on. [Newt collapses to the ground] Newt, no, no! Hey! [Grabs Newt under the arms and starts dragging him, but collapses to the ground]

[Thomas hears Teresa's voice broadcasted throughout the Last City.]

Teresa: [To Thomas] Thomas? Can you hear me?

[At the berg, Frypan, Brenda, and Jorge hear Teresa's voice broadcasted throughout the Last City.]

Teresa: I need you to listen to me.

[In the WCKD control room, Teresa is broadcasting her voice throughout the Last City.]

Teresa: I know you have no reason to trust me– but I need you to come back. Thomas, you can save Newt.

[At the train station, Thomas gazes at Newt lying on the ground.]

Teresa: There's still time for him. There's a reason Brenda isn't sick anymore. It's your blood. Do you understand? She isn't sick, because– because you cured her.

[At the berg, Brenda is touched over hearing Teresa tell Thomas that his blood cured her.]

Teresa: She doesn't have to be the only one. All you have to do is come back. And this will all finally be over. Please. Just come back to me. I know you'll do the right–

[The lights in the station go out, replaced by a few blazingly bright emergency lights. Thomas turns around to see Newt standing up, with Newt facing away from him.]

Thomas: [To Newt] Newt?

[Turning around to Thomas, Newt reveals that he has turned into a Crank.]

Thomas: Newt?

[Newt runs at Thomas, but Thomas moves out of the way and Newt falls to the ground. Newt gets back up.]

Thomas: Newt. Newt, it's me. It's me!

[Newt runs at Thomas. Meanwhile, at the berg, Brenda is holding a vial of serum in her hands when Minho and Gally arrive.]

Minho: [To Brenda] Brenda! Where's the serum?!

[At the transit station, Thomas and Newt are rolling on the ground, then Thomas pushes Newt off him.]

Newt: [To Thomas] Tommy, kill me!

Thomas: Newt, I'm here.

[Newt runs at Thomas, tackling him to the ground. Thomas tries to fight off Newt.]

Thomas: Newt, please! Please!

[Regaining control of himself, Newt gazes at Thomas.]

Newt: [Remorseful] I'm sorry, Tommy.

Thomas: [Reassuringly] It's okay. It's okay.

[Pulling out Thomas' pistol from Thomas' holster, Newt cocks it and raises it to his temple.]

Thomas: [Horrified] NO! [Knocks the pistol out of Newt's hand]

[Losing control of himself, Newt roars at Thomas. Meanwhile, during the battle between Lawrence's crew and the WCKD soldiers, Minho, Gally, Frypan, and Brenda are running through the Last City. Minho, Gally, and Frypan take cover beside a car's left side, choosing instead to wait out the battle and let Brenda continue running instead of resuming running with her.]

Brenda: [As she runs] Thomas!

Minho: [To Gally and Frypan] Stay down! Stay down!

[At the transit station, Thomas pushes Newt off him, then Newt pulls out a knife from his belt and uses it to swipe at Thomas, knocking him down. Newt gets on top of Thomas and tries to stab the knife at Thomas, but Thomas stops the knife above his chest. Newt pierces the knife into Thomas' chest. Thomas kicks Newt off him, then punches him. Meanwhile, Brenda is still running. At the transit station, Newt swings the knife at Thomas, who dodges, then Thomas and Newt accidentally slam into each other. By the time Thomas and Newt pull apart, Thomas looks to see that Newt has stabbed himself in the chest.]

Newt: [To Thomas] Tommy–

[Thomas and Newt gaze at each other before Newt collapses to the ground, with Thomas clinging onto him. As Thomas cries over Newt's dead body, Brenda arrives and sees Newt's dead body. Thomas and Brenda gaze at each other tearfully before Thomas gets up and picks up his pistol. Thomas gaze at Brenda and then at Newt's dead body, before departing, with Brenda watching on. As Brenda watches Thomas depart, Minho, Gally, and Frypan arrive and see Newt's dead body. As Minho and Frypan walk over to Newt's dead body and kneel down at it, Gally and Brenda stand watching on, Gally stroking the back of his own head and Brenda crying while holding the vial of serum in her own hand.]

[Teresa carries Thomas to the roof of the WCKD tower, which is now on fire. Teresa tries to carry Thomas to the door to the roof of the WCKD tower, but the door explodes in front of them. Thomas collapses holding his wound. Teresa crouches down next to him and gives him the vial of serum. Thomas takes it.]

Teresa: I'm sorry. I tried.

Thomas: I know.

[Thomas and Teresa kiss, then see the berg piloted by Jorge, with Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Vince, and the three groups of Immune teenagers in it, appear before them.]

Jorge: I think I got him!

Brenda: Yeah, that's him. I'll get the hatch.

Jorge: All right, I got him, I got him, I got him.

[Getting Thomas up, Teresa carries him to the edge of the roof. As Jorge turns the berg around, Thomas collapses and Teresa crouches down next to him.]

Teresa: [Horrified that Thomas collapsed] No!

[As Brenda approaches the lever of the berg and hits a button to open the ramp of the berg, Vince attaches a waist line to his waist.]

Jorge: [To Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Vince] I can't get any closer!

[The ramp of the berg opens and Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Vince stand on it. As Teresa gets Thomas up, Jorge struggles to keep the berg still for Thomas to get on.]

Jorge: Come on, come on, come on, come on, come on!

[Thomas and Teresa approach the berg. Vince holds out his hand to Thomas.]

Vince: [To Thomas] Give me your hand!

Teresa: [To Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Vince] Get closer!

Vince: [To Thomas] Jump!

[Jorge lowers the berg so Vince can hold out his hand to Thomas. Thomas takes it, but collapses.]

Teresa: [Horrified that Thomas collapsed] No!

Gally: [To Jorge] You gotta get closer!

[Teresa gets Thomas up. Thomas tries to take Vince's hand, but Teresa, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Vince see the tower collapsing. Getting Thomas up, Teresa throws him onto the ramp of the berg. Minho and Vince pull him up before they, Gally, Frypan, and Brenda convince Teresa to climb aboard, but Teresa turns around to see the tower collapsing.]

Thomas: [To Teresa] Teresa!

[Thomas and Teresa gaze at each other before the roof of the WCKD tower collapses beneath Teresa.]

Thomas: [Heartbroken and devastated] NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!

[Teresa falls, with Thomas, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, and Vince watching on in heartbreak and devastation. As Jorge flies the berg with Thomas, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Vince, and the teenagers in it away, Gally, Brenda, and Vince roll Thomas onto his back. Pulling up Thomas' shirt, Minho, Frypan, Brenda, and Vince see the wound on his stomach and try to stop the bleeding. As Minho, Frypan, Brenda, and Vince try to stop the bleeding on Thomas' stomach, Gally starts to administer a bandage on Thomas' wound. As Thomas loses consciousness, Jorge flies the berg with Thomas, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Vince, and the teenagers in it away.]

[Thomas wakes up in a hut and sees medicine around him. He pulls up his shirt and discovers a bandage on his stomach. Thomas steps out of the hut and sees a blue ocean and a ship. He looks to his right and sees the Right Arm and the three groups of Immune teenagers milling about a field and makes his way to them. While picking corn by hand, Vince and Sonya see Thomas approaching the field. While sitting on rock ottomans carving two pieces of wood, Minho and Jorge see Thomas approaching. While taking a walk, Brenda and Harriet see Thomas approaching. While building a campfire, Gally and Aris see Thomas approaching. While cooking, Frypan sees Thomas approaching. As Vince and Sonya walk up behind Thomas, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, and Aris approach Thomas. Thomas and Minho gaze at each other before hugging, with Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, Vince, Aris, Sonya, and Harriet watching on. Thomas hugs Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, Vince, Aris, Sonya, and Harriet. At night, Thomas, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, Aris, Sonya, Harriet, the Right Arm, and the three groups of Immune teenagers are sitting on bleachers at a campfire, listening to Vince give a speech.]

Vince: We have come a long way together. So many have sacrificed so much to make this place possible. Your friends– and your family. [Raises his cup] So here's to the ones who couldn't be here– [Thomas, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, Aris, Sonya, Harriet, the Right Arm, and the three groups of Immune teenagers raise their cups] –here's to the friends we lost. This place is for you. It's for all of us. But this, this is for them. So in your own time, in your own way– come make your peace. [Plunges his knife into a stump and raises his cup] And welcome to the Safe Haven!

[Thomas, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, Aris, Sonya, Harriet, the Right Arm, and the three groups of Immune teenagers cheer. Vince puts a log down on the campfire. As Gally and Sonya converse, Brenda takes a sip from her cup. Jorge and Aris converse.]

Frypan: [Calls out to the Right Arm and the three groups of Immune teenagers] You all want some food?

[Thomas and Minho are sitting on the bleachers.]

Minho: This is gonna be a good home for us.

Thomas: Yeah.

Minho: [Pulls out Newt's necklace and gaze at it, then hands it to Thomas] You had this on you when you were passed out. [Thomas takes Newt's necklace from him] Figured I'd keep it safe for ya.

Thomas: Thanks, Minho.

Minho: [Pats Thomas on his shoulder] See you out there. [Gets up and leaves]

Thomas: See you.

[As Minho leaves, Thomas gaze at Newt's necklace, then opens the cover and discovers a note in the necklace. He pulls it out, unfolds it, and reads it.]

Newt: [Voiceover] Dear Thomas– this is the first letter I can remember writing. Obviously, I don't know if I wrote any before the Maze. But even if it's not my first, it's likely to be my last. I want you to know that I'm not scared. Well, not of dying, anyway. It's more forgetting. It's losing myself to this virus, that's what scares me.

[Minho, Gally, Frypan, and Vince approach a memorial rock where they engrave names on it, Minho engraving Newt's name, Gally engraving Chuck's name, Frypan engraving Winston's name, and Vince engraving Mary's name, with Brenda watching on.]

Newt: [Voiceover] So every night, I've been saying their names out loud. Alby, Winston, Chuck. And I just repeat them over and over like a prayer, and it– and it all comes flooding back. Just the little things like where the sun used to hit the Glade at that perfect moment right before it slipped beneath the walls. And I remember the taste of Frypan's stew. I never thought I'd miss that stuff so much. And I remember you. I remember the first time you came up in the Box, just a scared little Greenie who couldn't even remember his own name. But from that moment you ran into the Maze, I knew I would follow you anywhere. And I have. We all have.

[While Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, Vince, Aris, Sonya, Harriet, the Right Arm, and the three groups of Immune teenagers are sitting at the campfire, Thomas approaches them, hugs Brenda and Gally, and sits down with them, Minho, Frypan, Jorge, Vince, Aris, Sonya, Harriet, the Right Arm, and the three groups of Immune teenagers at the campfire.]

Newt: [Voiceover] If I could do it all over again, I would. And I wouldn't change a thing. And my hope for you– is when you're looking back years from now, you'll be able to say the same. The future's in your hands now, Tommy.

[Thomas, Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, Vince, Aris, Sonya, Harriet, the Right Arm, and the three groups of Immune teenagers laugh with each other at the campfire. The next morning, at the hut, while Minho, Gally, Frypan, Brenda, Jorge, Aris, Sonya, Harriet, the Right Arm, and the three groups of Immune teenagers sleep, Thomas engraves Teresa's name on the memorial rock, while Vince sits watching on.]

Newt: [Voiceover] And I know you'll find a way to do what's right. You always have. Take care of everyone for me. And take care of yourself. You deserve to be happy. Thank you for being my friend. Goodbye, mate. Newt.

[Thomas walks away from the memorial rock and walks along the beach. He stops walking and gazes at the ocean and the ship. Thomas pulls out the serum, gazes at it, and looks out into the distance.]
