As suggested by BD2412 I will show removed material on this talk page so that others can consult it and make their own assessments.
- With this edit, I removed one sentence from the lead paragraph, because it seemed offtopic. The lead in WQ is supposed to be brief, referring readers to Wikipedia for additional information. And they will indeed find this sentence in Wikipedia, where it is in the context that punishing cowardice in battle has historically been a military practice; it is not a singular barbarism devised by the USA.
The United States military codes of justice proscribe cowardice in combat as a crime punishable by death (note the phrase "shot at dawn").
