Talk:Dwight D. Eisenhower
Add topicA transitional President..... Dwight Eisenhower was a bridge between the war years of WWII and the modern american society. He transited us from an era of a weak federal government to the present era of a massive federal government, though the fault for this should not be layed at his feet solely. The oft spoke military-industrial complex had grown from a wobbly kneed child to an insolent teenager bent on alienating itself from its parents, the peoples of the United States, the taxpayers. It is this behemoth of industry and government, that shaped the massive budget and personnel growth of the federal government.
The red menace, the communist conspiracy, bent on enslaving the world into one common commune, was constantly in the thoughts of all americans in this time frame. From this bias came the secret government that rules the United States and much of the commerce conducted by its partners. The black budgets, the classified projects and documents, the layer separating the governed from their government, was seeping into the american pysche to change what it was we thought a good American should be.
All wars are now undeclared, all reasons for war are merely propaganda, all dissent is disregarded and all spoils are shared among the leaders of the secret government and their coporate masters.
Is the price of a secret government, the freedom of its citizens?

The quote "If a problem seems intractable, enlarge it" (aut sim.) is attributed to D. D. Eisenhower. Does anyone have a context for it ?
