  • This name is fake. I was never called Hölderlin, but Scardanelli!
    • Upon seeing an edition of his own poetry. Original German: "Der Name ist gefälscht. Ich habe nie Hölderlin geheissen, sondern Scardanelli!"
  • Like a poet man lives.
