I remember the quote "The strength of a civilization is not measured by its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them" being shown at the end of an episode of Earth: Final conflict, which was one of Roddenberry's shows. The episode 'Scorched Earth' ends by showing this on the screen: "The strength of a civilization is not measured by its ability to fight wars, but rather by its ability to prevent them —Gene Roddenberry" So there is a ligitimate source for that quote.... also see: here, from space.com (it describes the episode and shows the quote70.109.238.179 05:47, 29 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • In a contrast between 1960's astronauts consuming "Tang" and crewmen on the Enterprise eating solid food: "Why should a man give up the joy of ham and eggs if the technology will allow it?"

lacking context[edit]

The quote

Well, you’re just going to have to learn how to bow down and say master.

needs some context. Was Roddenberry referring to himself and his role as creator of Star Trek? Was it actually directed to Bill or Leonard? JamesEG (talk) 01:05, 17 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps it was in relation to a script talking about the Vulcan view of human religion. http://uproxx.com/movies/star-trek-gene-roddenberry-falling-out/
