Clearly this article should include quotations from non-U.S. military people, as well as non-military people. I'm concerned also that there is only one cited source for all of the quotations, which is not a good thing for a page supposedly about a general theme and not a specific work. 121a0012 04:37, 17 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

These comments fail to impress me. For what precise reason would someone "clearly" have to quote non-US military people? Sounds to me like somebody is being very PC. Of course, there is absolutely nothing wrong with adding appropriate quotations by others, but I think you'll find, if you do deep reading in this field, that there is a large current literature on character and leadership by and about US military people. I fail to find a similar deep literature by non-US military people. If you are aware of such literature, you should identify sample items for the rest of us. You might be concerned that there is one cited source, but are you aware that Puryear has spent a lifetime interviewing literally hundreds of general officers ? I know of no one else who has interviewed and corresponded with so many military people. And, of course, at last check, he was teaching on the faculty at Georgetown University and the National Defense University. If you are going to have one source, he really is not so bad! Maybe if you genuinely encourage the author of this page, he or she might be willing to add more materials.

Response 2: If I was going to write something about "Military" character, why would I source, reference or even ask someone who was not "Military"? Would I ask a shoe salesman how to sell a car? I would like to add that my own search for "deep literature" available in the U.S. about military character referencing anyone outside the U. S. Military, short of Napoleon, Hitler and Julius Caesar, has met with negative results. I did find multiple short sections concerning some of the more famous generals and military leaders in history but nothing of any substance or length at all. If anyone could find such, I would be interested in reading it.

MY THOUGHT

I believe that until there is enough here there should just be one page for military and then character can go there along with homosexuality in the military, which, so far, is the only sub section there. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.174.133.176 (talk) 21:37, 26 August 2010
