Add topicCommunism
[edit]This page seems more devoted to comparisons between Nazism and communism than actual quotes about Nazism. I know anti-communists are dedicated and opiniated and that quotes comparing the two ideologies belong on Wikiquote, but as it stands there's not even much on here that's actually about Nazism, just endless quotes about communism, which the Nazis hated. I'm not sure how to go about cleaning it up. I think the main photo at the top of the page should have a substantive quote about Nazism, not one of the many quotes that compares Nazism to communism on a purely superficial and emotional level. Misattribution
[edit]*According to the idea of the NSDAP [Nazi party], we are the German left. Nothing is more hateful to us than the right-wing national ownership block.” Joseph Goebbels Der Angriff (The Attack), (6 December 1931), quoted in Wolfgang Venohr’s book: Documents of German existence: 500 years of German national history 1445-1945, Athenäum Verlag, 1980, p. 291, In German: „Der Idee der NSDAP entsprechend sind wir die deutsche Linke. Nichts ist uns verhaßter als der rechtsstehende nationale Besitzbürgerblock
The quote is misattributed, since an issue of Der Angriff (The Attack) from 6 December 1931 doesn't exist. Dec 6th, 1931 was btw a Sunday. In addition, the quote can't be found in other issues of the same year.
Seemingly, Venohr made a mistake in 1980 by confusing papers and quotes. The above mentioned quote was published in the Nazi daily Niedersächsische Tageszeitung on 6 September 1931 by someone using the acronym H. -- most likely Joachim Haupt, then editor-in-chief of the newspaper.
So, by itself, the quote isn't wrong, but merely attributed to the wrong person.
You can find more information to this matter here (in German). --2001:9E8:4614:FB9B:F560:268F:77AD:5EA9 14:09, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
