Why is De biezem yn'e mêst, sei Grutte Pier, wy sille de Sudersee skjinfeie! translated as The Hollanders are like dunes, Donia said, We shall clean the Southern Seas from them!? The literal translation is (Put) the broom in the mast, said Grutte Pier (Peter the Great), we shall sweep clean the Southern Seas (Zuiderzee)!
