It may be ignorance on my part but I fail to see why this was PRODded. It is about someone dead for decades so there are no BLP issues. Nothing is remotely controversial or contentious that I can see.--Ole.Holm 22:50, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

I really have rarely been very active in the prodding or deletion of pages which are not clear vandalism (which I simply eliminate), but others are more zealous in deleting pages of unsourced quotes, which this seems to be. Personally, I prefer to find something to source rather than eliminating someone else's work, but I have rarely presumed to dictate to others what they should prefer to do, if they work within the set of established rules and principles. ~ Kalki 22:59, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I just sourced one of the quotes, which is enough to legitimatize the removal of the prod marker. Otherwise in the procedures normally followed this would have prompted someone to make a "Vfd" (Vote for deletion), as the prod concerns were not addressed. ~ Kalki 23:05, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply
I just sourced most of the quotes, finding one that had been a misattribution, and the page should now be entirely safe from deletion or removal of the major portion of it. ~ Kalki 23:32, 4 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Unsourced

  • One doesn't have to play well, it's enough to play better than your opponent.
  • Like Ruso could not compose without his cat beside him, I without my King's Bishop cannot play chess. Without its presence, to me the game feels lifeless and cold. The vitalizing factor is missing, and I can devise no way of attack.
