The edition of the book which has been used to quote from should be given, so that you can estimate the validity of page numbers, because page numbers differ from version to version 80.143.246.58 16:32, 6 Feb 2004 (UTC)

I agree that editions should be given when page numbers are used. I personally tend to avoid designating page numbers, and feel chapters or sections are usually sufficient, and even they are not usually necessary. —Kalki

I feel that the page numbers are invaluable to anyone and everyone reading this article. There is no reason not to include them.

Even if you include the edition of the book so page numbers correlate, who is going to rush out and find that edition. Better to give chapter and section reference, I think :) Vaisnavi
