LSD: Methods of Control Quote[edit]

I have listened to Timothy Leary's lecture at Harvard University entitled LSD: Methods of Control and this quote does not appear to be in the lecture. Could someone please check this out?

The quote on hallucinogens (almost certainly misattributed)[edit]

"But they all do sort of the same thing, and that is rearrange what you thought was real, and they remind you of the beauty of pretty simple things. You forget, because you're so busy going from a to z, that there's 24 letters in between... You turn on... tune in... and you drop out..."

The only thing I can find, is that it's not a quote from Timothy, but from Grace Slick. And it's taken from this video @ 32:22 : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRrmqySNBFI I compared it to the lyrics from Infected Mushroom's song "Drop out", and they match perfectly. So Infected Mushroom must have managed to make it sound like Timothy somehow.

I'm not certain what to do with this though. I'll let you, the more experienced people handle this. 83.250.36.174 22:15, 29 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unsourced: LSD is a drug that causes insanity in people who have not taken it[edit]

This is in LSD: the consciousness-expanding drug / Introd. by Timothy Leary. New York : Putnam, [1964]. sorry, I had to return the book. but I know it was in there. It was part of Leary's brilliant touches to the book.

---

I just searched the reference, by David Solomon, with Google Books for "insanity" and did not find the quote therein.

From a meeting between Richard Alpert a.k.a. Ram Dass and Timothy Leary (1996)[edit]

Archive: http://www.archive.org/details/Timothy_Leary_Archives_47-A 57:00

Timothy Leary talks to Richard Alpert about a dialogue between himself and a press reporter who interviewed him.

Reporter: Don't you feel ashamed as you ruined an entire generation.

T.L.: Well that is about 72.000.000 people

Reporter: Don't you feel regret?

T.L.: There is one thing I feel, not even of a 100.000 have had the decency to thank me.

Please Help! Very popular quote, can't find source![edit]

"Admit it. You aren't like them. You're not even close. You may occasionally dress yourself up as one of them, watch the same mindless television shows as they do, maybe even eat the same fast food sometimes. But it seems that the more you try to fit in, the more you feel like an outsider, watching the "normal people" as they go about their automatic existences. For every time you say club passwords like "Have a nice day" and "Weather's awful today, eh?", you yearn inside to say forbidden things like "Tell me something that makes you cry" or "What do you think déjà vu is for?". Face it, you even want to talk to that girl in the elevator. But what if that girl in the elevator, and the balding man who walks past your cubicle at work, are thinking the same thing? Who knows what you might learn from taking a chance on conversation with a stranger? Everyone carries a piece of the puzzle. Nobody comes into your life by mere coincidence. Trust your instincts. Do the unexpected. Find the others."

This quote is very popular online, certainly sounds legit, and I've never seen it challenged, but I did not see it here, nor have I been able to find a source anywhere... Of course, he was rather prolific with his words, but I'd really appreciate some help tracking this down... Thanks! --Elgaroo (talk) 20:21, 7 February 2013 (UTC)[reply]
