"Biographical Note"[edit]

Deleted from the entry:

Biographical Note: I was his daughter-in-law from 1947 to 1959. He no longer grabbed anyone by the ear. We conversed by way of his ever-present scratch pad. He kept his house in Roxbury, CT. shipshape, in a way annoying to his wife, Beatrice Allender McFee: He used paint in British shipboard style, adding new coats to the floor (dark brown), bath taps (gold) and walls (white) right over any existing chips and scratches. He kept a morning watch, writing in the attic from 4:00 to 8:00 AM, then came down and made breakfast for anyone in the house, first bringing Bea coffee in bed. He knew many of the local writers, and one Christmas at Alexander Calder's house about seven of us watched Sandy animate his wire circus in the driveway.Ashjung 19:17, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
