Creatures of the Night [5.01]

[edit]
[In a flash-forward, Lydia has just attempted to escape Eichen House, only to be stopped by Gabriel Valack, who has glamoured himself to look like Aiden]
Valack/Aiden: Sorry, Lydia... But your treatment's not done.
Lydia: Please! I have to tell them. They are all going to die. My friends... They're all going to die.

[Stiles and Scott are sitting on the hood of the Jeep at Look-Out Point as they look up at the full moon overhead]
Stiles: You alright? You starting to feel it?
Scott: No. Just thinking...
Stiles: About what?
Scott: Senior year.
Stiles: [scoffs] Senior year? Come on, that's-that's nothing. That's going to be easy.
Scott: It's more like something Deaton told me once. You ever hear of "regression to the mean?"
Stiles: No, I don't think so...
Scott: It was his way of saying that life can't ever be all good or all bad. You know, eventually things have to come back to the middle. So, think about the last few months. Things have been good, right? But not amazing.
Stiles: Yeah, but no one's tried to kill us in six months, either...
Scott: Right. We've been pretty much in the middle for awhile. Which means... at some point, the scale has to tip one way or the other. Things are going to get really good again...
Stiles: ...Or really bad.

[Scott and Stiles are debating with Liam about whether or not to unchain him from the tree]
Scott: [to Liam] It's not that we don't trust you--
Stiles: [interrupts] --It's that I don't trust you--
Scott: --But after that last full moon...
Liam: [defensively] It was one slip-up!
Stiles: Slip up? A dozen calls to the Sheriff's Department about a "monstrous dog-boy" running around the streets of Beacon Hills-- naked?
Scott: [confused] Why were you naked?
Liam: [exasperated] It was really hot out that night, okay? Let me go!

Belasko: You're not a werewolf, but you're something.
[Parrish groans in pain as Belasko claws through his abdomen]
Belasko: Now, you're no ordinary creature, Deputy. But then, neither am I. Not tonight. I'll let you live if you answer one question-- Where is Scott McCall?
Parrish: [lies] Never heard of him.

[Scott and Liam are at the hospital, where Scott is getting ready to leave]

Scott: Show me your hands.
[Liam holds out his hands, which are clawed up from trying not to transform during the full moon]
Liam: [defensively] Okay, so I'm still having trouble...
Scott: [calmly] No. You're still learning. What do you do to stay focused on not changing?
[Liam shows him the earbuds to his iPod]
Liam: But it's not working.
Scott: It's working enough. Listen, Derek told me that you were one of the strongest that he'd ever seen at your age. Now, coming from him, that means a lot. It maybe means that things are gonna be harder for you for a while, but it also means something else, doesn't it?
Liam: [confused] That I'm really strong?
Scott: [smiles] Hell yeah.

[A storm has just begun while Kira, Noshiko, and Ken are trapped in their car during a traffic jam]

Ken: You know, there's a legend for a storm like this.
Kira: Dad, please don't turn a three-hour traffic jam into an educational experience...
Noshiko: He's talking about the Wild Hunt-- about the Ghost Riders. In storm clouds just like these, phantom hunters would appear, riding black horses with blood-red eyes, and wolves and hounds at their side, baying and snarling...
Kira: What were they hunting?
Noshiko: Souls.

Parrish: His claws were different-- twice the size of Scott's. More like talons.
Melissa: If that's the worst part, that doesn't sound too bad...
Parrish: It's worse. They did something to me. I don't know how to describe it, other than it felt as if the life was being drawn out of me through them. Through the claws.
Melissa: And now he's looking for Scott?
Parrish: Which got me thinking about what this guy can do. The rule is you have to kill an Alpha to steal their power, right?
Melissa: Yeah, except it's different for Scott.
Sheriff: You can't steal a True Alpha's power.
Parrish: I think this guy can.

[Belasko is in the middle of a fight with Scott and Kira when he starts to taunt Scott]
Belasko: A True Alpha? Where's your power, Scott?
Scott: Who are you?
Belasko: A devoted fan. Show me the man who took down Deucalion and broke the Argents. I came for that Alpha. And I didn't come just to claim your status.

Stiles: How come when we graduate, we're just expected to go our separate ways? If I already found the best people in my life, why aren't I fighting to stay with them, you know?
Malia: Isn't that the plan? The dream?
Stiles: The vision. And don't mock the vision!
Malia: [smiles] I like the vision. Especially if I'm part of it.

Theo: You don't recognize me, do you? I guess I look a little different since the fourth grade.
Scott: [stunned] Theo?
Malia: [confused] You know him?
Theo: They used to. Trust me, I never thought I'd see you guys again. Couple of months ago, I heard of an Alpha in Beacon Hills. When I found out his name was Scott McCall, I just couldn't believe it. Not just an Alpha, but a True Alpha.
Scott: [confused] What do you want?
Theo: I came back to Beacon Hills. Back home with my family. ...Because I want to be a part of your pack.

[Stiles, Lydia, Kira, and Malia have just watched Scott sign the initials S.M. and A.A. on the bookshelf for Senior Scribe-- one for himself, and one for Allison]
Stiles: She would have been with us.
Lydia: She still is.

Parasomnia [5.02]

[edit]
[Scott and Deaton are examining Belasko's talons]
Scott: Find anything?
Dr. Deaton: Maybe. Are you sure this guy was a werewolf? As far as I can tell, these claws are actually talons. In fact, they're the talons of a harpy eagle, one of the largest known birds of prey.
Scott: [confused] How does a werewolf get talons?
Dr. Deaton: Personally, I'm more interested in how these talons somehow were able to absorb your powers. The only one who should be able to do that is a Beta of your own making.
Scott: Someone like Liam?
Dr. Deaton: Exactly.
Scott: And what if I let someone into my pack? Like another Beta?
Dr. Deaton: I would normally say no... But, I'm starting to wonder if the rules to our supernatural world aren't as rigid as I once thought. Or maybe someone's trying to change those rules.

Stiles: [about Theo] Dad, this kid's a werewolf!
Sheriff: Your best friend is a werewolf! Your girlfriend is a werecoyote. I still don't know what Kira's supposed to be. When the flying monkeys come soaring through this station, you will have my undivided attention. Until then, just go to school.

Stiles: [about Theo] Who speeds? People trying to get away from something!
Malia: Well, how many tickets do you have?
Stiles: [offended] None!
Malia: How many would you have if your dad didn't get you out of them?
Stiles: ...Seventeen.

Malia: [about Theo] I don't know, Stiles. I mean, I see why you're worried. He's really hot! He's got like, great hair, a perfect body... You should definitely feel threatened...
Stiles: [offended] Thank you! Because I do. Now more than ever.
Malia: You want me to torture him?
Stiles: No, I don't want you to torture him!
Malia: I'm pretty sure I can take him.

[Mason has just shown Liam an old bestiary he has obtained]
Mason: This is the one I was telling you about. I got it from a rare book dealer in Germany. Cost me two hundred bucks, but it was totally worth it.
Liam: [nervously] You're still reading about this stuff?
Mason: [scoffs] I was attacked by an armour-plated giant wearing a bear skull! It left an impression. Look. Look!
[Mason shows him a drawing of a Berserker in the book]
Mason: Have you ever seen anything like this?
Liam: [lies] Uh, no! Never.
Mason: And then there's this whole section about the Nahual. Have you ever heard of the name Tezcat...
Liam: Tezcatlipoca? [Mason looks at him questioningly, and Liam plays dumb] No. No, never heard of him.

Mason: Look, I'm not saying I believe all of it one-hundred percent, but people around us seem to know things. Like Lydia? She knows things.
Liam: Dude, it's the first day at school. Shouldn't you be thinking about other things, like...
[He looks around and sees a group of male athletes walking toward the field]
Liam: Like the soccer team?
Mason: [sarcastically] What do you think I'm going to do? Follow them out to the field and watch them practice while I pretend to study?
Liam: It's warm out-- they're probably going to be shirtless.
[Mason looks up to see a soccer player checking him out and starts leering at him]
Mason: ...I'll see you in physics.

Stiles: [about Theo] No. Don't give me that look.
Scott: We have to give people the benefit of the doubt sometimes.
Stiles: Not this time, alright? I'm right! There's something off about him, I can feel it.
Scott: [gives him a look] Lydia's the psychic, not you.
Stiles: She's not a psychic! She's a Banshee, okay? There's a difference!

Kira: How did you get his transfer form?
Scott: [exasperated] You didn't break into the Administration office...
Stiles: No, I did not break into the Administration office!
[Kira, Scott, and Malia look at him skeptically]
Stiles: Okay, I might have broken into the Administration office...

Stiles: If Theo's parents are both psychotic killers, then obviously, we should not trust him, right?
Malia: ...My parents are Peter and the Desert Wolf...

[Stiles and Liam have followed Theo out into the woods]
Stiles: I told you he was up to something!
Liam: We just spent three hours watching this dude play video games in his bedroom. He better be high or covering up mass murder!

Stiles: What? What's wrong?
Liam: I forgot I was supposed to meet Mason at the school gym.
Stiles: Okay, why didn't you just tell him?
Liam: Tell him what?
Stiles: Anything.
Liam: I can't just tell him anything.
Stiles: [confused] Why not?
Liam: Because I haven't... I haven't told him everything.
Stiles: Still? We said it was okay.
Liam: Yeah, I know, but it's not that easy. It's a lot to accept.
Stiles: [exasperatedly] He watched my dad blow up a Berserker with a landmine! I think the groundwork's been thoroughly laid for acceptance.
[Liam looks at him nervously, and Stiles sighs]
Stiles: Scott and I have been through this, okay? More than once. It's always been better when they know.
Liam: But what if he freaks out? What if he doesn't want to talk to me? What if he tries to stab me with something silver? Or what if--
[Suddenly, a loud thud is heard, and Stiles turns back around to find Liam has fallen into a large hole]

Theo: [about Liam] Whoa! Why do I get the feeling this kid's tougher than he looks?
Stiles: Only when we let him off his leash.

Theo: You know, Stiles, I came back here for Scott. But, I also came back here for you. Someone like you. Someone who's willing to walk into the woods in the middle of the night to protect his friends. I don't have anyone like that, but Scott does. You all do. I know I'm in the right place. I'm meant to be here. I'm meant to be part of this pack.

[Scott has found Stiles and Liam in the woods, the former of whom is embarrassed to be caught tracking Theo]
Scott: Find anything?
Stiles: Nope.
Liam: I fell into a hole...?

Scott: Stiles...?
Stiles: Yes, okay, we followed him out here. What do you want me to say? That I'm a stalker? Huh? That I'm crazy? Totally paranoid? None of this is new information.
Scott: [gently] Now you're gonna try to at least give him the benefit of the doubt?
Stiles: [frustrated] I give people the benefit of the doubt! I've given a lot of benefit to a lot of people.
Scott: Like Derek? ...Kira? ...Liam?
Stiles: I was right about Peter. You know, I bet you still think there's something about him that can be saved.
Scott: [shrugs] Maybe. [He pauses] Why can't you trust anyone?
Stiles: [loses his temper] Because you trust everyone!

Liam: Hey. Sorry I'm late.
Mason: Oh, no. You're not late. You missed it. I worked out... for two hours.
Liam: Yeah, I know. I forgot.
[Mason rolls his eyes]
Liam: And I'm gonna tell you why. Actually, I'm gonna tell you a lot of things. A lot of really hard-to-believe things. Really hard to believe.
[Mason has become distracted by something behind him. It's a black wolf]
Mason: [scared] There's a wolf...
Liam: Yeah, I'm getting to that--
Mason: No, there's a wolf right behind you.
[Liam turns around and gapes in shock when he sees it]
Liam: That's a wolf!

[Tracy has awakened at the Dread Doctors laboratory and starts to freak out]
Tracy: There's nothing there. There's nothing. It's not real. I'm just sleeping. I'm just sleeping...
The Surgeon: No, Tracy. You're awakening.

Sheriff: [about Theo] Are you sure this kid's guilty?
Stiles: Absolutely.
Sheriff: Then all you gotta do is wait. If they're really guilty? Eventually, they'll make a mistake.

Dreamcatchers [5.03]

[edit]
[Donovan has just learned that he's likely going to be sentenced to 3-5 years in prison for his robbery and begins to furiously shout at Sheriff Stilinski]
Donovan: Stilinski! Stilinski! I'm going to kill you!
Sheriff: [rolls his eyes] Donovan, if you think that shocks me, remember it was well-documented in your Anger Expression Inventory. Deputies, escort the prisoner out.
Donovan: I'm not angry like I'm going to throw a brick through your window. I'm angry, like I'm going to find you, I'm going to get a knife, and I'm going to stab you until you're dead. And, when you look at me and ask me why? Remember right now.
Stiles: [claps dramatically] Wow, that was awesome. That was awesome. That was great. Can we do one more? Give us another one, maybe like Christopher Walken this time? Okay, you know what? It's fine. You'll have plenty of time to work on it when you're in your tiny little cell. You know, just stuck there. Forever.

Mr. Stewart: [to Donovan] Threatening the Sheriff in front of his entire department and his son? I'll be lucky to get you three to five decades. You realize that?

[Tracy has finally found her father in the prison transport van and stares at him creepily. Her eyes are glowing gold like a Beta werewolf and her fangs are out]
Tracy: [to Mr. Stewart] Don't worry, Daddy. I won't let anything happen to you... ever again.

[Outside the school, the McCall Pack and Mason are discussing their current problem]
Lydia: Tracy wasn't just having trouble sleeping, it was a real disorder. It was night terrors.
Stiles: Well, now she's the night terror. Especially since no one can find her.
Scott: Okay, I know we're all tired and miserable...
[He looks over at Mason, whose eyes are wide in excitement as he listens to them all talk]
Scott: ...Except for you.
Mason: Oh, I'm sorry, this is all just so mind-blowing! [He looks over at Kira] You're a Kitsune! I don't even know what that is!
Kira: [bashfully] I'm still learning.
Stiles: Liam, we said you could tell him, not invite him to the inner circle.
Mason: [excitedly] Uh, I'm in the inner circle?
Liam & Stiles: [simultaneously] No!

Scott: Guys, look-- back to Tracy. She's just one lone wolf. We can find her.
Malia: One lone serial-killing wolf.
Stiles: Uh, she only killed one person, you know. The other two were mauled, alright? What do we do when we catch her?
Malia: I say we put her down.
[They all look at each other. Scott is visibly against this plan, Stiles nods in agreement with Malia, while Kira, Lydia, and Liam seem at a loss for options. Mason looks at them all with interest and nods solemnly]
Mason: Intense.

Parrish: I've got an answer to why we couldn't find Tracy last night. She was in the hospital.
Sheriff: [confused] Doing what?
Parrish: Killing her psychiatrist.
Sheriff: [sighs] Let Scott know, but tell him I don't want them getting into it yet.
Parrish: Shouldn't we be putting him on the payroll?
Sheriff: I'm starting to wonder...

Tracy: [about the Dread Doctors] They're coming. They're coming for all of us.

[Mason and Liam are staring at Brett while he plays lacrosse with some friends. Mason, seeing that he's shirtless, starts to leer at him while Liam scowls in annoyance]
Mason: So, he's a werewolf too?
Liam: Yup.
Mason: [smiles] This just gets better and better.

[Deaton is examining Tracy as she lays unconscious on his table at the animal clinic. Malia, Scott, and Stiles watch him and brainstorm]
Malia: Uh, can't you just give her a shot of something?
Dr. Deaton: She doesn't look to be in any pain...
Malia: I meant a shot to kill her!

[Lydia and Kira are searching Tracy's room for clues]
Kira: Okay, so what are we looking for?
Lydia: I'm not sure... I'm mostly just following a feeling.
Kira: [alarmed] Your feelings usually lead to dead bodies.
Lydia: [shrugs] Well, let me know if you find one.

[Tracy has just scratched Dr. Deaton, Malia, Stiles, and Scott, all of whom have fallen paralyzed to the floor. Tracy then breaks the mountain ash barrier and escapes]
Stiles: [weakly] It wasn't a werewolf...
Scott: Kanima.

[Liam, Brett, and Mason have found the hole in the woods that they believe Liam fell into the previous night]
Mason: Liam, I thought you said this was a sinkhole.
Liam: It's a hole. What's the difference?
Mason: I mean, look at all these handprints, and look at all this dirt.
Brett: She didn't fall in here...
Liam: ...She was buried.
Mason: [nods] Intense.

Theo: [to Scott and Stiles] Let me help. It doesn't have to mean I'm part of the pack, or like you've accepted me, or anything like that. It just means I can help catch this girl. Scott, I can help you.

[Malia has just snapped Tracy out of her night terror after an extended fight]
Malia: Tracy? Tracy-- no, no, no. Look at me. You're not dreaming. This is real. All-All of this is real. You get it? You get that? You're not dreaming, Tracy.
Tracy: [scared] What's happening to me?

The Surgeon: [about Tracy] Her condition is terminal.

Condition Terminal [5.04]

[edit]
[Parrish is in the middle of a flashback to a few days/weeks ago, when he and Lydia were sitting at his desk at the Sheriff's station. Lydia has just pulled out a lighter]
Parrish: You gonna do a magic trick?
Lydia: [smiles] No, but you are.
Parrish: I only know one trick, and it's with a playing card.
Lydia: Well, this one involves a lighter and your hand.
Parrish: [gives her a look] This is sounding less like a magic trick and more like assault.
Lydia: [shrugs] It's a little dangerous, yes. But, it's not as bad as being lit on fire in a Deputy Sheriff's car. Which, by the way, you walked away from unscathed.
Parrish: [smiles] Not entirely-- I had to pay for the uniform!

Lydia: When you were looking at me, your eyes kind of drifted. What were you thinking about?
Parrish: [nervously] A dream.
Lydia: What dream?
Parrish: I've had it here and there for about six months. I'm walking in the woods, carrying a body... but it's completely burned. I can't see who it is, or who it was.
Lydia: Where are you taking it?
Parrish: A clearing. There's a huge tree in the middle of it. You'd think it was a thousand years old, but it's been cut down. It's just a stump.
Lydia: [frowns] It's real. It's a real tree, in a real part of Beacon Hills. It used to be the center of a grove of trees called a Nemeton.
Parrish: What's a Nemeton?
Lydia: A sacred meeting place for Celtic Druids. They were scientists and healers thousands of years ago.
Parrish: [confused] I've never seen this place...
Lydia: But that's why you're here. It drew you here. That's what it does. It's a beacon for supernatural creatures... It might even make them more powerful. What else happens?
Parrish: [nervously] I put the body down. I... I lay it down on the rings of the tree, and...
Lydia: ...What?
Parrish: [lies] Nothing. That's it. That's the end of the dream.

[Deaton has just arrived at the McCall house, where he has interrupted Scott and Kira kissing in the living room]
Deaton: Sorry to interrupt.
[Deaton starts pulling out jars that have werewolf claws, kanima scales, and harpy eagle talons in them from his bag]
Deaton: A werewolf with the talons of an eagle-- possibly a shapeshifter known in Eastern mythology as a garuda. Tracy's claws-- the unmistakable claws of a werewolf. But, a werewolf who also bears the venom and the scales of a kanima.
Kira: What do you even call that?
Deaton: Personally, I call it "terrifying." But, at the moment, I'm more interested in how Tracy was able to get across the mountain ash.
Kira: [confused] I thought no supernatural can do that.
Deaton: As did I. So, if Tracy was able to cross the mountain ash, and no supernatural can do that...
Scott: Tracy's not a supernatural.
Deaton: Exactly. If she wasn't born, and she wasn't bitten, she had to have been made.
Scott: "Made?"
Deaton: Someone is trying to make supernatural creatures with non-supernatural means. And, whoever they are, they're somehow managing to blur the lines between science and the supernatural.

Kira: What are we supposed to do?
Deaton: Same thing you've always done. Protect your friends. Protect each other.
Scott: [worriedly] So, what about someone like Tracy?
Deaton: I wish I could tell you.

Kira: How scared should we be?
Deaton: I've lived in the world of the supernatural a long time. But, I'm still a doctor. Still a man of science. Something like this happens, it rattles the foundation of everything you believe. Something like this shakes you to the core.
Scott: Something like what?
Deaton: The rules-- the rules have changed.

[Theo has come down to the basement of the Dread Doctors' lab to talk to Donovan, who is still strapped to an exam table]
Theo: You're lucky they're allowing me to talk to you. They don't usually do that. They're not giving me much time, either. See, these guys? They... They believe in numbers, and their results. They'll weigh the pros and cons, and they'll decide pretty quickly.
Donovan: [angrily] Decide what?
Theo: Whether or not you die.

[Theo holds up a file in his hands to show Donovan]
Theo: By the way, this is your psych evaluation from when you applied to be a Sheriff's deputy. Multiphasic Personality Inventory. You know what that is? It's a test that assesses abnormal behavior. It's supposed to be able to tell when you're lying, or being defensive, or if you're a total psycho. Your results were pretty disappointing, Donovan. You scored high on the Psychopathic Deviant scale. And that? That's bad. I'm not even going to get into your Anger Expression Inventory. Just this one quote here at the end-- "Not suitable for law enforcement." It sucks, right? I mean, you never get to be a cop like your dad. But, it doesn't matter, because... You've got something else now. Power-- real power. Strength, speed, heightened senses. So, what do you do with power like that? I know what you're thinking-- Go after Stilinski. Break his legs, cut off his ears... pull out his teeth? Problem is, though... Sooner or later, physical pain, it's... it's manageable. See, real pain is emotional pain. That is the kind of pain that lasts. And, if you want to cause Stilinski that devastating, soul-crushing emotional pain? You don't go after him-- you go after someone he loves.

[Liam and Mason are walking to a club]
Mason: Can you put your phone away from five minutes? Scott can howl if he needs you.
Liam: [sighs] I just feel like I should be doing something.
Mason: You are! You're my wingman tonight. And, considering the state of my dating life, I need a wingman, co-pilot, and a really hot flight attendant.
Liam: I'm definitely not your hot flight attendant.

[Melissa has called Scott and Kira to the hospital, where Scott has taken the pain of a teenage boy named Corey who was in excruciating pain as the result of an injury]
Scott: Let me see it. Let me see his arm.
[Melissa removes the bandage on Corey's arm, revealing a huge, weeping wound that is producing a brown slimy substance]
Scott: Holy-- What is that?
Melissa: The lab says scorpion venom.
Scott: Scorpion?
Melissa: I know. But, that's not the weirdest part... Because a sting this bad means that he should have been dead ten hours ago, and the scorpion that stung him would have been ten feet tall.
Kira: [horrified] Please tell me that doesn't mean there's a giant scorpion running around Beacon Hills...
Corey: [weakly] Lucas... It was Lucas.

[Mason and Lucas are in a secluded corner of Sinema, where they're flirting with each other. Mason sees the movie being projected on the wall and recognizes it]
Mason: Night of the Living Dead.
Lucas: What, the movie?
Mason: Yeah, it's one of the first classic zombie movies. Have you never seen it?
Lucas: Never. How does it end?
Mason: [shrugs] The zombies pretty much win. All the good guys die.
Lucas: [walks closer to him] So, I guess it's better to be one of the bad guys.
Mason: [nervously] Maybe... sometimes.

[Scott and Kira try to break into Sinema through the back door, but accidentally set off the alarm. Kira figures out where the alarm is coming from and pulls a shuriken from her belt buckle before throwing it and cutting the wire to the alarm, causing Scott to stare at her in awe]
Scott: God, I love you!

[Inside the club, an exasperated Kira is talking to Scott while they look for Lucas]
Kira: You did it again! You did something that changed everything, and you don't even realize you did it, but you did.
Scott: [confused] I did?

[Liam has finally knocked Lucas out, and he and Scott have just begun to calm down when Kira's kitsune aura suddenly bursts out of her, and she lunges toward Lucas' unconscious body as her kitsune spirit takes control]
Kira: Watashi wa shi no shisha da! ["I am the Messenger of Death!"]
[Scott, alarmed, stops her before she can kill Lucas with her sword]

[The Dread Doctors have just killed Lucas in front of Scott, Kira, Liam, Mason, and Brett, and Scott is staring at them in horror]
Scott: [angrily] Why did you do that?
The Surgeon: His condition was terminal.
Scott: What does that mean? What does that mean?
The Surgeon: Failure.

[Scott and Melissa are in the morgue, where they're staring at Lucas' dead body]
Scott: I should've done better. I... I... I should've known that this was going to happen. I should've been able to stop it.
Melissa: You know, your grandfather used to have a saying about the word "should." You know what you're doing when you say "should" too often? You're should-ing all over yourself!
[Scott laughs weakly, but still seems upset]
Melissa: I know that I can't be the mom that says "I don't want you to do anything about this," 'cause you're always going to be involved. Because not only do you have the power to do something, you care enough to do it. So, all you really need to ask yourself is-- "What am I going to do?"
Scott: [determinedly] I'm going to find out who did this... and I'm going to stop them.

A Novel Approach [5.05]

[edit]
[Donovan, after biting Stiles on the shoulder with his lamprey-mouth, has just followed him into the library, where he's hiding between two bookshelves. Suddenly, Stiles' phone buzzes, and he realizes with horror that he left it behind when he ran away]
Donovan: You dropped your phone. It's Malia. Should I text her back? [He pockets Stiles' phone] You don't really know who I am, do you Stiles? Maybe you heard about my father. Did your dad tell you about him? Did Sheriff Stilinski ever tell you about the time he was still deputy, and how his partner got caught in a shoot-out? Did he tell you a bullet shattered my dad's T-9 vertebra? Went right through his spinal cord. Know what that means? It means everything below his waist is useless. And not just his legs. I bet he told you some of it. But I bet he probably left out the part where he was sitting in a car, calling for backup, while my dad was going in alone. Did he tell you that he was too scared, too much of a frightened little bitch to go in after him? Or do scared little bitches not tell their little bitch sons about their failures? About how they put their partner in a wheelchair for the rest of his life?

[Donovan has just caught Stiles as he desperately tried to climb up a scaffolding to get away from him. He grabs Stiles by the ankle just as his wendigo eyes and fangs come out, revealing that he is a lamprey/wendigo chimera]
Donovan: Don't worry, Stiles. I'm not gonna kill you. [He adopts his wendigo voice] I'm just gonna eat your legs!
[Stiles frantically tries to figure out a way to incapacitate him long enough to get away and ends up pulling the pin to the top shelf of the scaffolding. This causes a bunch of scrap metal to fall onto Donovan, one piece of which impales him in the chest and kills him]

[Malia and Lydia are standing next to Malia's locker as they discuss The Dread Doctors, a book Malia found in Tracy's bedroom. Lydia reads the cover synopsis aloud]
Lydia: "In a small New England town, teenagers are taken in the night and buried alive. Days later, they emerge transformed, wreaking havoc and spreading terror, commanded by an ancient order of parascientists known only as the Dread Doctors." Sounds vaguely familiar. How does it end?
Malia: It doesn't. This is supposed to be Volume One.
Lydia: [rolls her eyes] Oh, let me guess... There is no Volume Two?
Malia: I think we're living Volume Two.
Lydia: Then maybe the real question is... Is this a novel, or someone's prediction?

Lydia: [to Malia about the book] Look at this. Look at the Acknowledgements page. [She reads the page aloud] "For providing scientific perspective and valuable insight... This book is dedicated to Dr. Gabriel Valack."
Malia: Do you know him?
Lydia: Yeah. And I know where to find him.

[Lydia has just stopped by the Stilinski house, where Stiles is in the middle of getting dressed. She has just told him their plan to go to Eichen House to talk to Dr. Valack]
Stiles: [insistently] Lydia, I'm going with you.
Lydia: [suspiciously] I thought you said you were sick.
Stiles: [awkwardly] I'm slightly under the weather.
Lydia: You don't have to come. Malia's not going either.
Stiles: Malia's not going because she knows that place is a nightmare asylum of insanity and death, okay? Let's go.

[Stiles has almost finished getting dressed when he puts his arm into the sleeve of his hoodie and winces when his injured shoulder is jostled too hard. This doesn't escape Lydia's notice, and she eyes him suspiciously]
Lydia: What was that?
Stiles: [plays dumb] What was what?
Lydia: You winced.
Stiles: I have a bad elbow.
Lydia: [gives him a look] It was your shoulder.
Stiles: Pain radiates. It does that! You are not going without me. You remember what happened to Deaton when he talked to Valack?
Lydia: Scott and Kira are going to be there.
Stiles: [insistently] Okay, I'm not letting you go to a place where one of the orderlies almost killed you.
Lydia: [exasperatedly] He almost killed you too!
Stiles: And we're both still alive! See? Teamwork.

Scott: Are you going to be okay in there?
Stiles: [confused] Yeah, why?
Scott: You just seem a little... off.
Stiles: I think we're all a little off.
[Scott looks over at Kira with concern]
Scott: Maybe some of us more than others.

Stiles: Wait, what happened?
Scott: When the other chimera, Lucas... When he came after us, I heard Kira say something in Japanese.
Stiles: That doesn't sound too bad...
Scott: She doesn't know any Japanese!
Stiles: Still not terrible.
Scott: I also think I might have stopped her from killing Lucas.
Stiles: [alarmed] Okay... Wasn't he just trying to kill you, though? I mean, that just sounds like self-defense.
Scott: It was more than that. I mean, she nearly took off his head.
Stiles: [anxiously] Maybe she had no choice? There's gotta be a point where self-defense is justified. Tracy killed her own father, and Lucas would have killed you.
Scott: They're not the bad guys. They're the victims. We shouldn't be killing the people we're trying to save.

[Scott, Kira, Lydia, and Stiles have just made it to Eichen House's lobby, where they approach an orderly behind the table and begin emptying their pockets into containers. The orderly sees Kira's katana-belt around her waist and frowns]
Orderly: Please remove your belt and place it into the container.
Kira: [nervously] I kind of need the belt. I mean, it's crucial to the outfit.
Orderly: [unamused] Please remove your belt, which patients will attempt to take from you and use to strangle themselves or others...
Kira: [alarmed] Right. Got it.

[Stiles and Lydia are almost to Valack's cell when Stiles glances at a nearby cell door and is startled to see Donovan. Panicked, he looks over again and instead finds a monstrous looking gray-skinned creature in his place. Upon reaching Valack's room, he gives Stiles a curious look]
Dr. Valack: Tell me what you just saw.
Stiles: [anxiously] Me?
Dr. Valack: The creature in the previous cell-- the Sluagh. The myth is that they can take on the appearance of the lost souls that have become bound to it. Happen to have seen any lost souls, Mr. Stilinski?
Stiles: Everyone down here...?
Dr. Valack: [smiles] Don't give up on us yet. We're all works in progress.
[Lydia recognizes this statement as something Peter once said and frowns]
Lydia: Where did you hear that from?
Dr. Valack: Wise words from a former cellmate.

Theo: Haven't I seen you coming out of Driver's Ed?
Malia: I hope not.
Theo: I'm pretty sure I saw you destroy a couple traffic cones the other day... and nearly take out a sophomore.
Malia: [defensively] The sophomore shouldn't have been standing there!

[Stiles and Lydia are talking to Dr. Valack about The Dread Doctors book]
Dr. Valack: I wrote it because no one believed me. Because no one listened. They're here, aren't they? In Beacon Hills?
Stiles: What are they?
Dr. Valack: Not entirely human-- at least, not anymore. They were scientists once. Scientists who worshiped the supernatural. Tesla said, "If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency, and vibration." They found their secrets in electromagnetic forces-- ways to prolong their lives, give them power, and, most importantly, making you forget you ever saw them.

Lydia: What do they want?
Dr. Valack: Good question, Lydia. Everybody wants something, don't they?
Stiles: Okay, so what do you want?
'[Dr. Valack pulls out an audio recorder and places it in the drawer for Lydia to take]
Dr. Valack: Press record.
Lydia: What do you want me to say?
Dr. Valack: I don't want you to say anything. I want you to scream.

[Stiles and Lydia are arguing about Dr. Valack's request]
Stiles: No way. Not happening. Sorry.
Lydia: He's the only one who knows anything!
Stiles: The guy is a nut-job who drilled a hole into his head! He's probably lying his ass off!
Dr. Valack: [frustrated] How many have died so far? All of them teenagers. Am I right? Want to know how many died the first time they came here? Wonder how many will die if they succeed?
Lydia: [shocked] This did happen before.
Dr. Valack: And now they're back. All because a few teenagers, who never even considered the consequences, decided to reignite a supernatural force they barely understand.
Lydia: The Nemeton.
Stiles: How do you even know about that?
[Dr. Valack removes the bandage around his forehead]
Dr. Valack: I know because I saw it!

[The electricity starts to flicker as Kira loses control over her powers]
Dr. Valack: Who did you come with?
Lydia: Our friends...
Dr. Valack: [urgently] What are they?
Stiles: [to Lydia] Don't answer.
Dr. Valack: You brought a kitsune.
Lydia: What's happening?
Dr. Valack: She's disrupting the building's defenses.
Stiles: What do you mean? How?
Dr. Valack: It's not just the mountain ash that keeps this building secure-- it's the electromagnetic energy. Eichen is built on the convergence of telluric currents. Ley lines. It's what allows it to keep certain supernatural creatures in, and certain others out. They knew you were coming. They're here. And you unlocked the door for them.

[Malia has just had an intense flashback to the night her adoptive mother and sister died, and Theo has just saved her before she could be hit by an oncoming car]
Malia: [dazed] It was her.
Theo: What?
Malia: It was her. She was there.
Theo: [confused] Who?
Malia: The Desert Wolf.

[Scott has just rescued himself and Kira by getting them out of Eichen house and has just collapsed onto the ground as a result of Kira shocking him repeatedly. Kira awakens and looks weak as well as she crawls over to him]
Kira: At the club... At the club, you... you said...
Scott: I remember. And I meant it.

[Stiles and Lydia have just barely missed being attacked by the Dread Doctors]
Lydia: I think we're okay. Stiles?
Stiles: No, it's not okay. All of this, it's on us. Everything that's happened, everything that's going to happen? It's our fault.
Lydia: [horrified] It's our responsibility.

Required Reading [5.06]

[edit]
Scott: [to Malia] We never should have read that book.

Stiles: [about the chimeras] These are all teenagers, right? So now shouldn't we be trying to figure out why these teenagers? If the Dread Doctors... If they went through all that, burying them, killing them, breaking one of them out of jail. They couldn't have been chosen at random.
Malia: They had to have something in common...
Sheriff Stilinski: Something that made them right for this experiment.
Stiles: Something that made them special.

Theo: Scott, I came here to find a pack. I wasn't planning on watching one fall apart.

[Scott, Kira, Lydia, Malia, Stiles, and Theo are sitting in the living room of the McCall house, with six copies of the Dread Doctors book sitting on the coffee table]
Lydia: My mom's bookclub usually had more wine.
Stiles: They probably also didn't read books that caused violent hallucinations...

Lydia: Maybe I should have my mother read it. She might remember a girl with a tail leaping off the ceiling and attacking everyone.
Stiles: Yeah, if it works.
Lydia: It has to.
Scott: [concerned] What's that mean?
Lydia: [anxiously] When I look at the cover of the book... It's almost like...
Theo: ...A memory trying to surface?
Lydia: Yeah.
Theo: Isn't that what Valack wanted when he wrote it?
Lydia: If they did something to me, I want to know what it is.

[Hayden is working at Sinema, where she's selling glow-sticks to customers. After a moment, she's approached by Josh Diaz, who looks stoned]
Josh: My glow-stick broke.
Hayden: [impatiently] No, it just ran out of glow. They don't last forever.
Josh: [confused] Can I have my money back?
[Hayden sighs and hands him another glow-stick without another word. Once he's gone, she groans in annoyance]
Hayden: God, I hate all-ages night.

[Theo goes upstairs to check on Kira and finds her asleep on Scott's bed. When he walks closer to her, he hears her muttering in her sleep in Japanese]
Kira: Watashi... wa shi... no shisha... da... Watashi wa... shi no shisha da... ["I am the Messenger of Death"]

[After none of them had any flashbacks after they had read the Dread Doctors book, they go to school the next morning. Scott, Kira, and Stiles are walking down the hallway when the electricity suddenly flickers. Stiles and Scott look at Kira suspiciously, and her eyes widen in alarm]
Kira: That wasn't me. I swear!
Scott: [sighs] We keep an eye on each other today, okay?
Stiles: Yes, and keep an eye out for eight other potentially homicidal chimeras.
Kira: And keep an eye out for the Dread Doctors.
Stiles: [anxiously] I'm starting to see the appeal of a third eye...

[In Lydia's repressed memory/flashback, her younger self has just walked into the bathroom of Eichen House, where Natalie and a nurse are kneeling next to the bathtub where Lorraine is laying with a bleeding hole drilled into her skull behind her left ear. Natalie looks at Lydia in horror]
Natalie: Lydia! I said stay in the car!
[Lorraine looks at Lydia in a daze]
Lorraine: They're coming, Lydia. They're coming for all of us.

[Mason has just found Kira in the library, where she looks frustrated as she looks at the Dread Doctor book in her hands. He sits down next to her and smiles]
Mason: Not into sci-fi? That's the book, isn't it? I thought you guys were supposed to finish reading it last night.
Kira: [embarrassed] Yeah, I kind of... haven't... yet. I don't know what's wrong with me. I mean, I can't... I can barely read it.
Mason: [excitedly] Okay, uh... This is gonna sound weird, but do you speak Japanese?
Kira: No. I'm also half-Korean, and I don't speak Korean. And I'm pushing a C-average in English.

Mason: Okay, well, I've been doing some reading on kitsunes...
Kira: [confused] Why?
Mason: 'Cause I met one?
Kira: Oh. Right.
Mason: Do you know why people in Japan answer the phone "moshi moshi?"
Kira: "Moshi" means "hello."
Mason: Yeah, but there's a reason why you have to say it twice on the phone. Because, according to Japanese folklore, fox spirits have difficulty with language. And the way that you prove you're not a fox? When you answer the phone, you say "moshi" twice. The important part is "moshi moshi" confuses kitsunes because it's a language trick. So is the book-- you know, it's just one long language trick.
Kira: That's why I can't read it?
Mason: It's affecting the fox part of you, confusing it.
[Suddenly, the electricity flickers, and Mason gives her a look]
Kira: I swear that wasn't me.

[Mason and Brett are sitting on the bleachers and watching lacrosse and soccer practice on the field as they talk]
Brett: I don't know, dude. Everyone at Devenford's pretty abnormal to me.
Mason: All right. What else is there to look for? There's heightened strength, smell, hearing, speed...
Brett: Uh, able to see in the dark...
Mason: Glowing eyes...
Brett: Eyes that reflect the light...
Mason: Visible scorpion stingers protruding out of limbs?
Brett: [chuckles] Yeah, or three-foot lizard tails.

Stiles: Okay, then what are we doing here if you've already had your repressed memory?
Lydia: [frustrated] It wasn't the right memory. I remembered my grandmother in Eichen House. There was nothing to do with surgery, nothing to do with the Dread Doctors. So, if I've read the book, why don't I have the full memory of my experience with them?
Stiles: ...I'm not supposed to know that, am I?
Lydia: No, something... [She suddenly gets an idea] ...happened during the surgery. But now... I think that maybe it has more to do with me being a banshee. It's not my memory, Stiles. :Stiles: It's someone else's.

[Malia has just confronted Theo in the weight room]
Malia: Why haven't you said anything?
Theo: About what?
Malia: The rest of my memory? The Desert Wolf? Why didn't you tell Scott?
Theo: I didn't think you wanted me to.
Malia: [surprised] I don't. Are you going to want to know why?
Theo: [shrugs] Not really?
Malia: [frustrated] You think you're doing me a favor? Like I'm going to owe you now?
Theo: I don't need any favors.
Malia: Then what do you want?
Theo: I want in the pack.
Malia: That's not up to me.
Theo: [sighs] If you want to tell Scott what you saw, tell him. If you've got something else in mind, I'm okay with that too.

[Stiles has just witnessed Theo killing the newly-turned chimera, Josh, to save his life and is staring at him in horror]
Theo: Stiles... You can't say anything. Please don't say anything.
Stiles: Why not?
Theo: Because I never said anything about Donovan.

Strange Frequencies [5.07]

[edit]
Theo: I know everything.
Stiles: [angrily] You don't know anything!
Theo: I was there! I was at the library. Malia found the book. She was texting us to see where you were. She said she left you at the library. I told her I was close. When I got there, I heard the scaffolding come down.
Stiles: You saw him?
Theo: Just the body. I watched you come out. I was gonna say something, but then I saw the cop car... And the body was gone. I don't know who took him. I only saw what you saw, and I didn't say anything because you didn't.

[Stiles and Theo are debating what to do after Theo killed Josh to save Stiles when sirens are heard]
Theo: That's not an ambulance, is it?
[Stiles shakes his head in the negatory]
Theo: We should get out of here.
Stiles: [points to Josh's body] We can't just leave him.
Theo: Fine. All right, let's take him. Someone's stealing the bodies anyway, right? Here's our chance to find out who.
[Stiles, overwhelmed, hesitates for a moment]
Theo': Stiles, come on. We gotta do something.
Stiles: You killed him.
Theo: In self-defense. He was going to kill you, and me! If we stay, we're either going to have to tell the truth, or we're going to need a pretty convincing story. It's your choice. I'm not going to ask you to lie to your dad.
Stiles: [sighs] Don't worry... I've had plenty of practice.

[Hayden is walking to her car in the Sinema parking lot while Liam chases after her]
Hayden: Asking me to close my eyes was weird. Sticking a glow stick in my face? Even weirder. But werewolves and dead doctors?
Liam: [sheepishly] Dread Doctors.
Hayden: [annoyed] Whatever. Get away from me.
Liam: [desperately] What if I could prove it to you?
Hayden: Prove what?
Liam: This.
[Liam sighs before wolfing out and roaring with glowing gold eyes and fangs in Hayden's face. Hayden is so scared she screams and punches him in the face before driving away]

[Scott and Stiles have met up with Liam at Scott's house. Hayden has locked herself in the bathroom]
Scott: She's definitely a chimera?
Liam: She said she heard a voice saying, "Your condition improves."
Stiles: Well, that's unsettling. [He starts to talk to Hayden through the locked door] Hayden, this is Stiles. Your sister works for my dad down at the station? Look, just open the door, okay? You can trust us.
Scott: We just need to tell you the truth, Hayden. And that kind of thing usually is better face-to-face. Listen, either you're gonna unlock the door, or I'm gonna have to break it open. It's okay if you don't want to talk, or if you're not ready to believe us. But, I just... I gotta know that you're okay in there.
[Scott is about to break the door open when it suddenly unlocks and cracks open. Scott, Stiles, and Liam slowly walk into the bathroom to find Hayden partially wolfed-out, with glowing gold eyes, claws, and fangs]
Hayden: I believe you.

[Noshiko has just sneak-attacked Kira with her katana to test her ability to deal with a fight at the spur of the moment. Kira looks at her in horror and annoyance]
Kira: Mom! This is not what I would call quality mother-daughter time.

Kira: [to Noshiko] I could have killed you!
Noshiko: Not you! The fox inside you!

Stiles: We're back to telluric currents?
Scott: If the Dread Doctors didn't like coming into Eichen House because of them, maybe we should use them to protect Hayden.
Stiles: Okay, so, besides Eichen, where's the strongest convergence.
Scott: We're standing on it.
Stiles: You want to hide her in the high school? For how long?
Scott: If we have to, all night.

Kira: What about me?
Scott: [hesitates] Um, well, you'll come to the school with us. We're going to need all the help that we can get, so bring your belt.
Kira: [embarrassed] Actually, I think I lost it again...
Scott: Oh, well, I'll help you find it! You think you left it here?
Kira: [gently] Scott, it's okay. Last time I was around telluric currents, things didn't go so well.
Scott: Yeah, well, this is the school. You're there every day. It's not the same.
Kira: I made it worse by being at Eichen. They used me to get inside. I think I need to figure out what's going on with be before I try helping anyone else. Just be careful, okay? If this works tonight, what happens tomorrow? Are you gonna keep trying to find places to hide her?
Scott: No. If this works tonight, we're gonna catch one of them.

Theo: Checking up on me? You can't tell me you don't want to know who's taking the bodies.
The Surgeon: Inconsequential.
Theo: You don't care that someone is running off with your little failed science experiments?
[When The Surgeon remains silent, Theo realizes the truth]
Theo: You already know who's taking them. Did you forget that you were supposed to be keeping me in the loop on everything?
The Surgeon: Inconsequential.
Theo: Not to me!

[Kira is laying face-down in bed while Noshiko performs acupuncture on her back]
Noshiko: The balance of power inside you is in conflict. The struggle between the fox and the human. Perhaps this will shift the power back into your hands.

Sheriff Stilinksi: They're not Dread Scientists. They're Dread Doctors.
Melissa: So now you're looking for a medical connection?
Sheriff Stilinski: Or a medical condition. Something that Tracy, Lucas, and Donovan could've all had in common.

[Lydia, Malia, and Jordan are all unloading the frequency jammers from the car to put in the high school]
Malia: We're betting our lives on these?
Lydia: I think we're betting Hayden's life on them.
Jordan: Yeah, well, I'm glad I brought my gun.

[Stiles and Theo are sitting in the Jeep while they stake out the animal clinic in hopes of catching the body thief]
Theo: You still wondering why I haven't said anything to Scott?
Stiles: Maybe.
Theo: You think I've got some kind of ulterior motive?
Stiles: More than likely.
Theo: Would you believe me if I said all I want... All I've ever wanted is for you guys to trust me?
Stiles: Nope.
Theo: So, you're here because you're never going to trust me?
Stiles: Yup. Glad we had this talk!

Theo: You know who you remind me of?
Stiles: [sighs] Theo, I don't care.
Theo: My sister. She was smarter than everyone, too. And a pain in the ass like you. But she always looked out for me, the same way you look out for Scott. You know, I was the one that found her body? She'd fallen into a creek and broken her leg. They told us she would've been okay if it wasn't one of the coldest nights of the year... If it wasn't for the hypothermia. And when I found her, all I could think was that I should've known. That I should've been looking out for her.
Stiles: ...Why are you telling me this?
Theo: I'm telling you because even if you don't trust me, and even if you don't like me, I'm still going to be looking out for you... the way I should have been looking out for her.

Liam: Don't worry. You'll learn to control it.
Hayden: I'm not like you. I wasn't bitten by a wolf. I was... somebody's science experiment. [She sighs] This is so bizarre.
Liam: I know. But you're gonna be okay. I promise.
Hayden: [hesitates] What am I?
Liam: [smiles] You're Hayden.
Hayden: [smiles] By the way, if you get me out of this, I'll forget all about the sixth grade.

Theo: You know, I saw his teeth. Donovan. He was a, uh... wendigo, wasn't he?
Stiles: Yeah.
Theo: That's the cannibal one, right?
Stiles: [nods] Native American. The myth says that if you ate human flesh, your punishment was to turn into a creature that constantly craved it.
Theo: That's a pretty judgmental myth.
Stiles: Well, I didn't make it up.
Theo: What if it was the only way to survive? I mean, you ever hear of the Donner Party? I'm pretty sure they didn't turn into wendigos.
Stiles: Well, they didn't live in Beacon Hills...
Theo: [chuckles] Good point. So what's the punishment for killing a chimera?
Stiles: [sarcastically] You spend five hours in the car with Theo Raeken. [Theo laughs] I know what my punishment is. I'm gonna lose my best friend. I'm gonna lose Scott.

Lydia: [about Hayden] Liam, we brought her here to protect her.
Liam: And now she's the bait.
Hayden: [fearfully] Am I?
Scott: [sighs] No. No one's bait. But we can't be bodyguards to everyone every night.
Liam: [angrily] Then why aren't we talking to Stiles' dad? Why aren't we doing something better than hiding in a school?
Scott: [frustrated] Because we still don't know anything about them or what they want, okay? They're winning, and we don't even know what the game is!
Liam: What if they come in here and those things don't work? What if you have an asthma attack again? What are we gonna do?
Scott: [sighs] I don't know.
Liam: This plan sucks!
Scott: [loses his temper] You got a better one? Kids are dying! And she's next. So, somebody has to do something! Somebody has to save everyone! So somebody's got to be the bait!
[Liam is surprised by Scott's uncharacteristic frustration and anger, and Scott immediately looks guilty for raising his voice to him]
Liam: Scott... Promise me you'll do everything you can to save her. [Scott hesitates] Scott! Promise me.
Scott: [gulps nervously] I'll do everything I can. I promise.

[The Dread Doctors' psychoactive vapor and powers are causing everyone to have hallucinations. Scott is currently hallucinating that Kira has just stabbed him through the chest with her magic katana before choking him with Roxie's leash]
Scott: [gasping] Kira?
Kira: [in a distorted voice] You know who I am!
Scott: [struggling] Kira! Kira, stop!
Kira: I am the Messenger of Death!

[Lydia is currently hallucinating that Tracy is alive and has run over to her]
Lydia: Tracy?
Tracy: Lydia? Thank God! I need your help.
Lydia: What do you need? What can I do?
Tracy: I need you to scream.
[Tracy reaches into Lydia's mouth and rips out her tongue, causing her to fall to the floor and choke on her own blood]

Theo: If Scott really gave up on you for some piece of crap like Donovan, then he wouldn't be a True Alpha, would he?
Stiles: Or maybe that's the definition of one-- someone who doesn't put up with murder.
Theo: [rolls his eyes] It sounds like you guys need to look up "justifiable homicide."
Stiles: [side-eyes him] Did you seriously just say that to the son of a cop?
Theo: A werewolf's eyes are supposed to change color when you take an innocent life. [He flashes his gold eyes to Stiles] Do these look blue to you? It was self-defense-- for me and you.
Stiles: Or maybe you just don't feel all that bad about it. You can't say that one life is objectively less innocent than another one. What if they turn blue 'cause you feel guilty?
Theo: So it's up for interpretation?
Stiles: Yeah, maybe.
Theo: Then here's my interpretation of what happened with you and Donovan: Not guilty.

Theo: Did you feel bad about it? Not now. I mean right then, right when it happened. What were you thinking the moment you knew he was dead and there was no saving him?
Stiles: [sighs] One word-- "good."
[Theo, pleased, smirks in satisfaction, but Stiles doesn't see him]

The Surgeon: [to Hayden and Liam] We are on a frequency you can't possibly imagine.

Malia: They're gone. Hayden and Liam are gone.

Ouroboros [5.08]

[edit]
[Deaton and Vadim are exploring the Dread Doctors' laboratory in Russia when they come upon a message spray painted on a wall in Cyrillic script]
Deaton: What does that say?
Vadim: [reads aloud] "They come. They come for all of us."

Deaton: [about the Dread Doctors] What was the story?
Vadim: They say they never took off the mask. Some people believed they had no faces underneath. But they had a symbol-- the snake that eats itself.
Deaton: The Ouroboros?
Vadim: [points at the wall] Like that one.

[A mysterious woman has just shot Vadim in the head with an assault rifle and is now aiming it at Deaton, who has gotten into a defensive position]
The Desert Wolf: Easy, Doctor. I know you have skills, but I'm pretty sure I can shoot faster than you can hit. [She pauses for a beat] Do you know who I am?
Deaton: I know what you're called... The Desert Wolf.

[Sheriff Stilinski has just arrived at the McCall House to find a worried Melissa in the doorway]
Sheriff: I thought you said you, uh, you had a situation?
Melissa: [nervously] Yes, but complicated. If you come in, I need you to leave your badge at the door.
Sheriff: [confused] Uh... Literally or figuratively?
Melissa: [unamused] Both would be preferable.

[Theo has just finished flipping Stiles' overturned Jeep back on its wheels when they both hear a report on Stiles' police radio]
Dispatcher: [on radio] Suspect in 1-8-7 is in custody and en route to station. Suspect's name is Yukimura, Kira.
Theo: [worriedly] What's a 1-8-7?
Stiles: [shocked] Homicide.

Sheriff: This is your official statement?
Melissa: [plays dumb] Something wrong?
Sheriff: [frustratedly] The part about finding the body in your kitchen works fine. But then, it gets a little confusing when you describe the body as a "monstrous chimera," and then go on about werewolves, banshees, kanimas...
Melissa: [sarcastically] You're right! I forgot about the Dread Doctors.

Sheriff: [to Deputy Clarke] I'll deal with it. No more bending the rules for anyone.
Melissa: [angrily] Maybe you should learn to bend a little before someone breaks.

[Liam and Hayden are talking to one of the fellow chimeras, Zach, who they're locked up with in the Dread Doctors' electrified holding cell at the abandoned house from Creatures of the Night]
Zach: We're not getting out of here...
Hayden: You could be a little optimistic.
Zach: It's kinda hard when you've watched three people get dragged out of here screaming.
Liam: [warily] What happened to 'em?
Zach: They were failures. That's all they said. First, you forget. You don't know who you are or what you're doing. Then, you get violent. I watched two of them almost kill each other. One of them had a nasty looking cut, just like that.
[Zach points at the incision on Hayden's side from the experiments, which is bleeding black blood, and she self-consciously covers it]
Zach: Don't worry. Black is okay. It's only really over when you start bleeding other stuff. When it starts turning silver...
Liam: ...Mercury.
Zach: That's when you know you're really a failure.

Liam: How many more failures are there supposed to be?
Zach: Who knows? But doesn't it make you wonder what the success is going to look like? I mean, what are we turning into? Something with claws and fangs?
Liam: Something with wings?
Hayden: Something worse?

[Kira tries once again to read The Dread Doctors novel, but when the words start getting blurry again, she angrily throws the book across her bedroom. Noshiko, who was passing her room in the hallway, picks up the book and walks inside to talk to her]
Noshiko: I can't help but notice your frustration.
Kira: I'm the only one who still hasn't finished reading it. And everything that started going wrong with me started with them.
Noshiko: If it's the language that is confusing the fox... Maybe you should stop trying to understand it.
Kira: [confused] Huh?
Noshiko: The story itself is confusing the fox. Try not reading the story.
Kira: How do I do that?
Noshiko: Try reading it backwards.

[After hours of no luck finding Liam and Hayden, Scott becomes so stressed that he has an asthma attack and has to use his inhaler. He falls to his knees and looks devastated and overwhelmed]
Scott: This is all my fault. We're never going to find them. It's my fault...
[Mason holds out his hand to help Scott up]
Mason: Scott... We should keep looking. We should keep trying.
[Mason looks at him encouragingly, and finally, Scott takes his hand and lets Mason help him up before they return to the search]

Scott: Kira, I don't want you to leave...
Kira: And I don't want to hurt anyone. Especially you.

[Melissa has just found Scott soaking wet and sitting on the floor of his bedroom next to his closet. In his hands is the old leash he used to walk Roxie]
Melissa: Sweetheart, are you okay?
Scott: [defeatedly] Something's changed.
Melissa: What do you mean?
Scott: I'm not sure. Something's different with me and my friends. With all of us. Something's changed, and I think it's because of me. And I don't know how to fix it.

[The Desert Wolf has tied Deaton to a chair, and his head is bleeding from an injury he sustained in the struggle]
The Desert Wolf: I heard an interesting rumor, Doctor... I heard that my daughter is still alive. You wouldn't happen to know anything about that, would you?
Deaton: [plays dumb] A daughter? I don't know anything about a daughter.
The Desert Wolf: Well, I hope you're telling the truth... Because if she is still alive, I'm just gonna have to kill her again.

Lies of Omission [5.09]

[edit]
Scott: [voiceover monologue] My asthma is back. I'm not sure how, but it came back. Just as bad as it used to be. So now, I keep my inhaler on me all of the time, just like I used to. And it's been five days. We haven't seen any new chimeras, and we haven't seen the Dread Doctors. We all go to school, pretending like nothing's happened, but everyone seems to know. You just walk down the halls, and no one's smiling. No one's laughing. You get the feeling that everyone can sense that something's coming. They just don't know what it is, or how bad it's going to be. Every time I feel like I should do something about it, I find myself reaching for my inhaler, like I'm going to take a hit of it and, and come up with some brilliant solution on how to save everyone. But I don't know what to do. I don't think anyone does. Maybe that's why no one's really talking to each other. Sometimes, we don't even notice each other... But I think some of us are okay with that. Because not talking makes it easier to keep secrets. And I don't know if anyone's really lying about things. Maybe it's more like lies of omission.

Scott: [voiceover monologue] Maybe the worst lie is to Stilinski, because no one's told him about Parrish yet. Then again, no one's told Parrish, either. He doesn't seem to remember taking the bodies, and we think that he's only really dangerous if you try to get in his way. If Stilinski knew, he'd definitely get in his way. So, Lydia and Stiles are trying to find the bodies, which means finding the Nemeton. They're driving around, searching all of the woods... But the last time we found this thing, three of us had almost drowned in ice water. We're not the only ones looking for chimeras. Stilinski's got everyone looking for the next target, questioning everyone who's a genetic chimera, anyone who's got two sets of DNA. No one really knows what they're looking for. Some think it's a serial killer. Some probably know it's worse.

Scott: The two chimeras that we know about, Hayden and Corey? They're both doing okay. Actually, better than okay. They're healing faster and getting stronger. They don't need our help... and I don't think they'd want it anyway. I still haven't heard from Kira, and I'm getting more and more worried about Deaton. I know something's coming, and all I can think about is... How good am I going to be if I can't even breathe?
Theo: You sound like you're trying to apologize.
Scott: You came back looking for an Alpha. I guess I'm sorry that you found me.
Theo: I'm not sorry.
Scott: You still want to be part of the pack?
Theo: Scott, I'm with you. For better or worse.
Scott: [sighs] Trust me. There's gonna be worse.
Theo: [smiles] I'm counting on it.

Stiles: Hang on-- if the Nemeton's covered in bodies, shouldn't you be able to find them?
Lydia: Me?
Stiles: Yes, you! That's what you do. You're the banshee! You find the bodies.
Lydia: Well, the banshee's having an off-day, so how about we talk to Parrish?

[Beth, a recently discovered chimera, just lost a fingernail and began to bleed black blood before running out of class. Malia, worried, rushes after her, but is stopped by Natalie Martin]
Natalie: Malia, if you need to use the restroom, it's one at a time. And, if you're planning on leaving class, I'd consider your recent drop in grades.
Malia: She needs help!
Natalie: Not from you.
Malia: [suspiciously] You know what's going on, don't you?
Natalie: I know that I'd like to see you get through senior year with passing grades.
[Malia, annoyed, flashes her blue eyes at Natalie]
Malia: You know more than that.
Natalie: I think you need to focus more on your schoolwork. All of you.

[Liam and Hayden have just stopped at Sinema to get her paycheck before they attempt to leave town, and Hayden has just knelt in front of the safe]
Liam: You know the combination?
Hayden: 12-34-56.
Liam: But that's...
Hayden: Yeah. Phil's an idiot. My sister's going to go out of her mind worrying about me.
Liam: We'll come up with something to tell her.
Hayden: How far are we gonna go?
Liam: Wherever's far enough, I guess.
Hayden: What if I turn out like Tracy? What if I hurt you?
Liam: [smiles] I'll get over it.

[Lydia and Parrish have just found the Nemeton, and he is freaking out about what he has just learned about what he's been doing during his blackouts]
Parrish: I need to call it in. No, I need to turn myself in!
Lydia: I don't think that's such a good idea...
Parrish: You just told me I'm the one taking the bodies! I've attacked other law enforcement officers. That's a criminal offense! I shouldn't even be near you.
Lydia: [gives him a look] I'm not afraid of you.
Parrish: I'm afraid of me.

Lydia: Whatever's happening seems to only happen when there's a body. Other than that, you're still a pretty nice guy. And you're a pretty good deputy.
Parrish: I'm a very good deputy, and I'd like to stay that way. Flipping over Jeeps and attacking colleagues doesn't exactly fit with "protect and serve." I'm covering up the bodies of murdered teenagers!
Lydia: You're not covering them up...
[Lydia is suddenly struck by a realization]
Lydia: Actually, maybe you are.
Parrish: [confused] What?
Lydia: It's the same thing we asked Stilinski to do with Tracy. You're not covering up bodies... You're covering up the supernatural.
Parrish: What's the difference?
Lydia: Maybe you're keeping the secret safe. Maybe that's part of what you do.
Parrish: I'm a deputy.
Lydia: You're not just a deputy. And you aren't one of the bad guys.

Parrish: Lydia, you just showed me that my dream was real... But you haven't heard the rest of it. Every time I carry a body to the Nemeton, I put it down and add to the ones that are already there.
Lydia: [worriedly] How many?
Parrish: Hundreds, Lydia. Hundreds.

[Liam, Theo, and Hayden are on their way to the animal clinic after the Dread Doctors gave Hayden an overdose of modified mercury]
Liam: How do we help her?
Theo: I don't know. When it's wolfsbane poisoning, you burn it out. But I don't know anything about mercury. Especially a kind that's probably been altered by them.
Liam: Is she going to heal?
Theo: The problem is she's not really like us, Liam. None of them are. They're more like... like cheap knockoffs. She might not be as strong as we are, or heal like we do. She's not a real werewolf.
Liam: [gets an idea] What if we turn her into one?
Theo: Nice idea. Except you and I can't do that.
Liam: ...But Scott can.

[Stiles has just arrived at the animal clinic to find Scott waiting for him in the pouring rain. He's holding the wrench Stiles used to fight Donovan, and Stiles' eyes widen when he sees it]
Stiles: Where did you get that?
[Scott is shocked to learn that it really is Stiles' wrench]
Scott: This is yours? Why didn't you tell me?
Stiles: I was going to.
Scott: No, but why didn't you tell me when it happened?
Stiles: [panicking] I couldn't.
Scott: You killed him? You killed Donovan?
Stiles: Well, he was going to kill my dad. Huh, was I supposed to just let him?
Scott: You weren't supposed to do this! None of us are.
Stiles: You think I had a choice?
Scott: There's always a choice.
Stiles: Yeah, well, I can't do what you can, Scott. I know you probably wouldn't have done it. You probably would've just figured something out, right?
Scott: I'd try...
Stiles: [angrily] Yeah, because you're Scott McCall! You're the True Alpha! Guess what? All of us can't be True Alphas. Some of us have to make mistakes! Some of us have to get out hands a little bloody sometimes. Some of us are human!
[Scott, who didn't believe Theo's story until this point, takes Stiles' comment as confirmation that he was telling the truth and looks horrified]
Scott: So you had to kill him?
Stiles: Scott, he was going to kill my dad!
Scott: But the way that it happened... There's a point when it's... it's not self-defense anymore.
Stiles: [confused] What are you even talking about? I didn't have a choice, Scott! You don't even believe me, do you?
Scott: I want to.
Stiles: Okay. Alright, so... So, believe me, then. Scott, say you believe me. Say it. Say you believe me.
Scott: Stiles, we can't kill people that we're trying to save...
Stiles: Say you believe me.
Scott: We can't kill people!
Stiles: Do you believe that? Well, what do I do about this? What do you want me to do? Okay, just be... Scott, just tell me how to fix this, alright? Please, just tell me. What do you want me to do?
Scott: [sighs] Don't worry about Malia or Lydia. We'll find them. Maybe... Maybe you should talk to your dad.

Status Asthmaticus [5.10]

[edit]
[Sheriff and Deputy Clarke have just arrived at the high school to find that the school sign has been thrown through the ceiling of the entrance hall and is now laying broken on the ground. The Dread Doctors appear a few meters behind them]
The Pathologist: Success?
The Surgeon: Imminent.

Theo: [about Liam] You know we're going to need help with him.
Scott: [sighs] He'll be all right.
Theo: He's sixteen and in love. First love. You remember what that's like?
Scott: [sadly] Yeah. Trust me, I remember.

Theo: All those emotions mixed with the supermoon? Tonight isn't going to be good.
Scott: I know.
Theo: We need help, and I don't mean restraints or chains. I mean Malia, Stiles, Lydia... You need your pack, Scott.
Scott: I'm not so sure I have one anymore.

[Lydia is sitting outside of Parrish's holding cell, where they're both leaning against the same part of the metal barred door]
Parrish: Go home, Lydia. Stilinski isn't telling anyone where he put the bodies, and I'm pretty sure that I'm not psychic.
Lydia: [softly] But you're drawn to death. Just like me.
Parrish: Does that make me kind of a banshee? You find bodies, I find chimeras... Dead chimeras.
Lydia: So, we're both harbingers of death.
Parrish: I should probably add that to my resume.
Lydia: [shrugs] It's on my college applications.

[Stiles and Malia are watching as Stiles' Jeep gets towed away]
Malia: Can they fix it?
Stiles: There's not enough duct tape in the world to fix that thing.
Malia: Maybe you should find something other than duct tape.
Stiles: [sighs] It's got a bad alternator. You know, needs all new belts, transmission's going, the brake pads are basically metal on metal...
Malia: [concerned] How come you let it get so bad?
Stiles: There's been a few distractions, if you haven't noticed.
Malia: I notice. More than you think I do.

Parrish: Does it help, knowing? Knowing what you are?
Lydia: It doesn't scare me as much, that I know. Do I scare you?
Parrish: Once.
Lydia: Really?
Parrish: It was the night I found that werewolf, the one with the talons. I thought I was going to die that night.
Lydia: How come?
Parrish: Because I saw you. I saw the banshee. But I guess it was just a dream or a hallucination.
Lydia: [curiously] What was I doing?
Parrish: Trying to keep me alive.
Lydia: [smiles] Well, sorry, but the banshee was mostly trying to stay out of the rain. That was the night of the storm, remember? The Wild Hunt.
Parrish: The what?
Lydia: Oh, it's something Kira was telling me. A myth about thunderstorms... Ghost Riders in the sky, and black dogs...
[Lydia is suddenly struck by a realization]
Parrish: What is it?
Lydia: I need to check on something. I'll be right back. Don't go anywhere.
[Jordan makes a face at her]
Lydia: You know what I mean.

[Malia has just dropped Stiles off at the Sheriff's station so he can talk to his dad]
Malia: Are you going to tell him about Donovan?
Stiles: [shocked] You knew?
Malia: I guessed. I saw the bite on your shoulder while you were sleeping. It didn't matter to me. That's why I never said anything.
Stiles: [sighs] It matters to me.

[Lydia has just found a mythology book in the school's library and reads it aloud when she finds the passage she's looking for]
Lydia: "Woden's Hunt, also known as the Wild Ride or Wild Hunt. A myth of devilish riders in the sky accompanied by dogs, spectral beasts whose eyes glowed with fire. A Bearer of Death and Guardian of the Supernatural, the black dog is also known by its more common name... the Hellhound."

[Theo has just trapped Scott in the library with a ring of mountain ash, and Scott looks at him with shock and anger]
Scott: That's not possible.
Theo: You're right. A werewolf shouldn't even be able to touch mountain ash.
Scott: You're a chimera.
Theo: I'm the first chimera. It's the coyote part you don't notice. It's why Malia trusted me first, even though she probably didn't know it. You found the perfect word, though, Scott. Because a chimera isn't just a monster with different parts. It can also mean "something impossible to achieve." "An unrealizable dream."
Scott: And they realized you?
Theo: They came close with me. But, we can't all be perfect. We can't all be True Alphas.

[A fully wolfed-out Liam has just found Scott on the roof after he realized Theo laced his inhaler with wolfsbane]
Liam: Did you lie to me?
Scott: I've never lied to you.
Liam: But you won't save her.
Scott: I can't save her-- at least not with a bite. If you'd just think about that for a second, Liam, you would know that I'm right.
Liam: [angrily] I am thinking! I'm thinking about alternatives.
Scott: Liam, it's the supermoon. It's feeding your anger. It's making you more aggressive.
Liam: It's making me stronger! You're gonna keep your promise, even if it kills you!

[Braeden and Malia are regrouping after Braeden saved Malia from Noah, a new chimera]
Braeden: I don't know what's going on around here, but I'm guessing things are bad again.
Malia: Very.
Braeden: Then this is going to sound worse, 'cause your plan...?
[Malia realizes what she's about to say]
Malia: She knows.
Braeden: Yeah. And she's coming. The Desert Wolf knows you're alive, and she's coming back to Beacon Hills.

Theo: Your dad was looking for you, Stiles. He found me instead.
Stiles: Where is he?
Theo: I covered for you. This was taken care of. If Melissa didn't find it at the hospital... Guess even the son of a cop can make mistakes.
Stiles: [angrily] Did you hurt him?
Theo: I never lied about why I came to Beacon Hills. I'm here for a pack. I came for the werecoyote, the one whose first instinct is to kill. I came for the banshee, the girl surrounded by death. I came for the dark kitsune, the Beta with anger issues... I came for Void Stiles! That's the pack I want. Unfortunately, it doesn't include Scott.

Theo: Your heartbeat's rising, Stiles. It's not because you're afraid. The Nogitsune is gone, but you've still got more blood on your hands than any of us.
Stiles: I'm about to get more.
[Stiles lunges for Theo and punches him in the face]

[Scott and Liam are circling around each other after they fell through the skylight of the library and landed inside]
Scott: He's using you, Liam. He wants you to be the Alpha because he can't take the power from me. Only you can. But, once you do, he'll take it from you. That's why he wants you to kill me.
Liam: That's what you don't get, Scott. I want to kill you! I want to!

[Mason has just saved Scott from Liam and is helping him walk out of the library]
Mason: Scott, what happened?
Scott: [groans] It's the supermoon. It was just...
[Just then, Theo appears, looking furious]
Theo: Bad timing. I mean, seriously. You couldn't have waited five minutes?
[Theo backhands Mason so hard he is thrown onto the floor before turning back to Scott]
Theo: I should've stayed. I should've made sure.
Scott: [smirks] Because now you have to kill me yourself. [Theo glares at them] They're still mine.
Theo: Maybe not yet, but they'll come around.
Scott: Not for you. They're not like you. They never will be.
Theo: [sneers] Because I'm a chimera? Because I'm not a real werewolf?
Scott: Because you're barely even human.
[Theo becomes so furious that he plunges his claws into Scott's chest and rips it open, killing him]

[Melissa has just arrived to the library to find a stunned Mason kneeling next to Scott, who is laying motionless on the ground. Mason's hands are bloody, as though he tried to save Scott's life]
Melissa: Scott! Scott! No, no, no, no, no, no, no...
[She rushes over to Scott and starts to do CPR]
Melissa: Okay. One, two, three, four, five...
Mason: What are you doing?
Melissa: Six, seven, eight...
Mason: What are you doing?
Melissa: Bringing him back.
Mason: But his... his heart... He... he hasn't had a pulse in over fifteen minutes. You can't bring someone back that's--
Melissa: [cuts him off] He's not someone. He's my son! And he's an Alpha, and he's too strong to die like this!
[She gives Scott two rescue breaths before returning to doing chest compressions]
Melissa: Come on. You can do this. You're an Alpha. You're an Alpha. Come on, Scott! Roar! Come on! Come on, Scott! ROAR!
[She desperately slams her fists against Scott's chest, which causes him to awaken with a gasp, his eyes glowing red before he roars at the top of his lungs]

[Melissa is cleaning up Scott's wounds at home]
Scott: I lost, Mom.
Melissa: Every leader suffers loss. Sometimes more than you think is bearable.
Scott: [defeatedly] But this time, I lost everyone.
Melissa: You'll get them back. You have to.
Scott: Why would they come back?
Melissa: Because you're their leader. And even when a leader thinks they have nothing left to give, there's still one thing-- hope. Give them hope.

[Theo has just resurrected Hayden, Tracy, Corey, and Josh at the Nemeton with the Dread Doctors' green serum, and they all stand up and look at him in confusion and shock]
Hayden: What... What's happening?
Tracy: Who are you?
Theo: I'm your Alpha. And all of you? All of you belong to me.
[Theo turns and walks away, and the four resurrected chimeras reluctantly follow after him]

[The Dread Doctors have just uncovered a fresco painting behind a tiled wall in their laboratory that depicts a red-eyed black beastly werewolf fighting against an fiery-eyed Hellhound]
Dread Doctors: [together] La Bête. La Bête. La Bête. La Bête.
The Surgeon: Success.

Part 2

[edit]

The Last Chimera [5.11]

[edit]
[In a flashforward, Dr. Valack is instructing Lydia on how to use her newly-gained extrasensory perception after he drilled a hole into the side of her skull. In her vision, she's walking through the creek in the nature preserve where Theo's sister died]
Valack: Stay focused, Lydia.
Lydia: What did you do to me?
Valack: I've amplified your abilities. Something that might just save the lives of your friends.

Valack: [about Theo and his sister] Why did he let her die? What did he want?
Lydia: Her heart... He wanted her heart.
Valack: There's no record of a heart condition... But a transplant would make Theo a genetic chimera like the others. The hypothermic conditions would keep the organ viable. But why him? Why choose a ten-year-old willing to kill his own sister?
Lydia: [weakly] Why do you care?
Valack: Because Theo was the first step in the right direction for the Dread Doctors. Think of who they are. Parascientists who have prolonged their lives and twisted the laws of Nature in pursuit of one goal-- the creation of the perfect killer.
Lydia: The last Chimera...
Valack: And now they've done it.
Lydia: But Theo doesn't know who the success is.
Valack: It doesn't matter. There's a reason they chose him, a reason he failed, a reason they changed their methods, and a reason the finally succeeded. It all starts with Theo.

Valack: When did you know for sure? That the Dread Doctors had succeeded?
Lydia: [weakly] Scott and Stiles found out that night.
Valack: The night of the supermoon.
Lydia: But they really didn't know it yet. There was too much going on. Liam had almost killed Scott. Kira was still gone. Malia was trying to find the Desert Wolf...
Valack: You were missing.
Lydia: And Sheriff Stilinski was dying...

[Lydia's banshee spirit has just visited Parrish's hellhound spirit through their supernatural connection. They're in the shower together, and Parrish has just noticed that she's missing the index and middle fingernails on her left hand]
Parrish: What's happening?
Lydia: You're a Harbinger of Death, Jordan. Don't you know?
Parrish: [nervously] Know what?
Lydia: Someone's dying.

Parrish: I can't say how I know, but Lydia Martin is missing.
Deputy Clarke: Parrish, you're missing! And some people here are really confused by your behavior, me included.
Parrish: I know, and I'm going to try to explain it. But I need you to find whoever's available--
Clarke: Parrish, no one's available! Do you have any idea what's going on? The high school sign somehow ended up in one of the hallways, the library is completely wreck, there might be a prehistoric animal running around the streets, and I am seriously starting to think about a transfer.

[Stiles is sitting on the steps at the McCall House when Theo arrives. He looks down and sees the mountain ash barrier along the doorway and smirks before dramatically stepping over it as though it were dust]
Theo: I guess we're all telling the truth now.
[Scott is hiding in the upstairs hallway so he can eavesdrop on their conversation. When Theo looks as though he caught Scott's scent, Stiles throws Scott's t-shirt at him]
Stiles: You killed my best friend?
Theo: Let's be honest, Stiles-- was he still really your best friend?
Stiles: Are you going to let my father die?
Theo: If I wanted him to die, I wouldn't have told you where you can find him.
Stiles: Then why are they saying his body is shutting down? That some poison's poisoning him and they don't know how to stop it?
Theo: [hesitates] I'm not the bad guy, Stiles. I'm just a realist. I'm a survivor. If you knew the things that I know--
Stiles: [cuts him off] Yeah, but what do you know?
Theo: I know what's coming. I know what the Dread Doctors created. And, I know what Parrish is.

Dr. Geyer: No, there have not been any other bodies brought in tonight, thank God.
Liam: No one named Hayden?
Dr. Geyer: Mason, take him home. It's six o'clock in the morning.
Liam: Dad, you're sure there have been no other dead bodies?
Dr. Geyer: [exasperatedly] Both of you. Home. Now.
[Dr. Geyer leaves, and Mason looks over at Liam]
Mason: We're not going home, are we?
Liam: No.
Mason: Well, we both know where Hayden's body is... And, if you want to find her, you're going to have to find the Nemeton.
Liam: Okay, let's find the Nemeton.
Mason: [sighs] I need to learn to shut up.

Theo: [about Parrish] Lydia figured it out. I saw it in her memories.
Stiles: Right after you drove her out of her mind.
Theo: [shrugs] Collateral damage. But, if she's right about Parrish, then things around here are gonna get a lot worse.
Stiles: [scoffs] I don't care.
Theo: You should. Because if your dad does survive, he's not gonna be Sheriff of anything much longer.

Scott: Come on. Let me help. I can find the clues you can't. You can't do this alone, okay? You need me. You need all of us. I can get more help. I can text Liam--
Stiles: [scoffs] Liam just tried to kill you.
Scott: Okay, then at least let me help.
Stiles: [sighs] You believed him.
Scott: You trusted him, too. Theo got to all of us.
Stiles: You know, you don't even know the whole story.
Scott: I don't need to. All that matters right now is your dad. Come on, Stiles. We survived an Alpha Pack, a dark Druid, professional assassins... We can survive Dread Doctors and Chimeras, too.

[Mason and Liam are looking at a map in a book in the library]
Mason: Alright, this is the one. You see these? These are ley lines. They're mapped according to telluric currents. Stiles said that he and Lydia were looking at the intersections.
Liam: Probably... this one. But they never found it. They kept going out there to look, but they said the Nemeton has to want to be found.
Mason: It's a supernatural tree that has to want to be found in order for you to see it?
Liam: Yeah.
Mason: That's awesome.

Parrish: [to Natalie Martin about Lydia] I'm going to find a way to get her out of there. Even if I have to break through the walls.

Schrader: [about Lydia] She's a pretty little thing, isn't she?
Valack: That "pretty little thing" could shatter your skull with her voice if someone decided to teach her how.

[Liam and Mason are wandering around the nature preserve in search of the Nemeton when Liam suddenly stops, looking defeated, and brings up Hayden]
Liam: I couldn't save her.
Mason: No one could. I was standing right there. Melissa did everything medically possible--
Liam: [interrupts him] --While I was trying to kill Scott.
Mason: You can't take all the blame. I mean, there was like 800 extenuating circumstances. It was just the moon, then it was losing Hayden, and fear, and anger... And Theo took advantage of it.
Liam: Or maybe it was just me.
Mason: Liam, you're a werewolf. There was a full moon, a supermoon. And you can't let yourself...
[Mason suddenly has a dawning realization]
Liam: What?
Mason: The Nemeton's a beacon for supernatural creatures, right?
Liam: Yeah...
Mason: So, what if it takes a supernatural creature to find it?
Liam: I am a supernatural creature, and I can't find anything.
Mason: But you've been looking with your human eyes.

Malia: [about Stiles] He didn't want you to call me, did he?
Scott: No. Is it that bad?
Malia: [sighs] We kind of broke up, I guess.
Scott: Yeah, we kind of broke up, too.

Dr. Geyer: [about Sheriff Stilinski] Melissa, that man in there is dying, and I don't know how to save him. I went to Harvard Med. I have degrees lining the wall of my office, and I don't have the slightest clue what's going on here. If you know something about this that I don't...
Melissa: Me?
Dr. Geyer: Yes, you. Nothing seems to faze you. And, not to sound accusatory, but it's like you know something...
Melissa: [sighs] Knowing something is different from understanding it. Yeah, I could tell you things, really bizarre things. But right now, I can't tell you anything that is gonna save his life.
Dr. Geyer: Then what are we supposed to do?
Melissa: Keep him alive. For as long as possible.

Scott: We're gonna be okay.
Malia: Scott, we're gonna die down here.
Scott: [sighs] No, we're not.
Malia: How can you be so sure?
Scott: Because you're not the only one that I called.
[Just then, Chris Argent appears behind them with an assault rifle aimed at the approaching Dread Doctors]
Argent: GET DOWN!

[Theo and Hayden have just found a circle carved inside another circle in the wall in the tunnels near the Dread Doctors' laboratory]
Hayden: What is that?
Theo: [grimly] A symbol. The symbol of an Alpha and his pack.
Hayden: [confused] Whose pack?
Theo: Scott's.

[In the flashforward, Valack is continuing to question Lydia after performing trephination on her]
Valack: It was more than a symbol, wasn't it? It was a promise to reunite them.
Lydia: Yes.
Valack: But, has Scott done it yet? Will he be coming for you?
Lydia: [weakly] Someone's coming. But it's not Scott.

[In the flashforward, Theo, Corey, Josh, and Tracy have entered Lydia's room. Tracy has Valack in a choke-hold against the wall]
Valack: You don't wanna do this, Theo. She's safe in here. The Dread Doctors don't know how important she is yet.
Josh: [about Lydia] She doesn't look good.
Corey: She has a hole in her head. It's not a good look on anyone.
[Theo sees the hole drilled in the side of Lydia's head and rolls his eyes]
Theo: I can't believe this is actually a medical establishment. Pick her up. We're getting her out of here.
Valack: [curiously] Now, what would a pack of Chimeras want with a Banshee?
Theo: I don't want a Banshee. I'm looking for a Hellhound.
[Just then, Parrish, who is naked, covered in soot and flames, and has his glowing orange eyes, claws, and fangs out as he uses his flaming hands to melt the door to the room. Valack smirks at the sight of him]
Valack: You wanted a Hellhound? I think you found one.

Damnatio Memoriae [5.12]

[edit]
[Liam has just pulled Hayden over the edge of a cliff and into a ravine to get away from the Beast. Liam awakens on top of a large boulder to find Hayden checking him over]
Liam: [groans] What are you doing?
Hayden: Making sure you're alive?
Liam: Argh, I think my back's broken.
Hayden: Will it heal?
Liam: [winces] Eventually... I think.
[Hayden seems satisfied by this answer and turns to leave]
Hayden: Good.
Liam: Whoa, where are you going?
Hayden: To find my sister and make sure she's okay.
Liam: You're going to just leave me here?
Hayden: You pulled me off a cliff. I'm lucky I healed.

Liam: I saved your life.
Hayden: This time.
Liam: Who saved it last time?
Hayden: [hesitates] ...Theo.

Scott: [worriedly] Parrish, how many bodies do you actually see when you dream about the Nemeton?
Parrish: [sighs] Everyone.

[Stiles has just admitted the truth about killing Donovan to Sheriff Stilinski]
Sheriff: Did you think that I wouldn't believe it was self-defense?
Stiles: What if it wasn't? What if I told you I wanted him dead?
Sheriff: I'd believe you. I also believe that wanting someone dead and murdering them are two very different things.
Stiles: Yeah, but what if a judge didn't think so?
Sheriff: Then to hell with the judge! Stiles, it was self-defense, and I would destroy every shred of evidence to protect you if I had to. I would burn the whole Sheriff's station to the ground.

Stiles: What about upholding the law? What about Kira?
Sheriff: Kira was a mistake. I guess I'm learning how to bend.

Malia: I can't help you. Not right now.
Scott: [defeatedly] What if I told you that you're the only one that I have left?
Malia: You're not going to want my help.
Scott: [confused] Anything that happened between us--
Malia: [cuts him off] I'm talking about something that's going to happen. Something I'm going to do... And you're not going to like me much after I do it.
Scott: Is that why I hear two other heartbeats in there? And why yours is beating so fast?
Malia: [sighs] Scott, go home. I can't help.
[Scott leaves, and Malia goes back inside and shuts the door, revealing that Braeden is wrestling with a bearded man on the floor]

[Malia and Braeden are interrogating someone for intel on the Desert Wolf]
Mercenary: You think you can make me talk? I am Spetsnatz-- Soviet Special Forces. In battle, we kill our own wounded. You could tear out my fingernails, cut my lips with razors... I'll still say nothing.
Braeden: [annoyed] Correct me if I'm wrong, but your section is out of work and broke, right?
Mercenary: You won't get a word out of me.
Braeden: What if we paid you $10,000?
[The mercenary, now with a stack of $100 bills in his hands, totally starts talking]
Mercenary: The Desert Wolf was last seen close to the Canadian border. She won't travel by plane. She will stay away from surveillance cameras when she can.
Braeden: Then we still have some time.
Mercenary: There's another reason she won't fly-- She's not traveling alone.
Malia: What do you mean?
Mercenary: She has a hostage. An animal doctor.
Malia: [sighs] Deaton.

Liam: I went to the club, looking for Hayden, and there's Josh, standing there completely alive. Just like Hayden. Because of Theo.
Mason: Theo brought them both back. That's what he's doing. He's, he's building a pack-- his own pack of dead Chimeras.
Liam: They both looked pretty alive to me... But they're not the same. There was something about Hayden. There's something wrong about her.
Mason: Maybe that's what dying does to you. What if it, what if it like darkens your soul? What if they're all evil now?
[Just then, the similarly resurrected Corey walks into the school with a bright, genuine smile]
Corey: Hey guys! Are you volunteering for the library clean-up too?

[Stiles is researching potential suspects regarding the last Chimera on Sheriff's computer when Sheriff wakes up and catches him]
Sheriff: Is that my laptop?
Stiles: Yep.
Sheriff: Do you have my password?
Stiles: I have all your passwords.

Mason: Corey's not texting me back.
Liam: Because he left with Theo.
Mason: [shocked] Are you sure?
Liam: He was here.
Mason: Well, then we should do something, right? We should tell someone.
[Liam makes an anxious face when he realizes he's talking about Scott]
Mason: Liam, you have to tell him.
Liam': You think he'll even talk to me?
Mason: You're his Beta. Doesn't he have to?
Liam: Where would I even start? "Sorry for trying to kill you?" "Sorry for leaving you for dead so that Theo could kill you?"
Mason: If you start off with sorry, the rest probably won't even matter.

[Meredith and Lydia are talking to each other through their telepathic Banshee connection while Lydia lays catatonic in bed]
Meredith: You have to wake up.
Lydia: What if I can't?
Meredith: Then you won't be able to help your friends, and they'll die without you.
Lydia: How am I supposed to help them like this?
Meredith: You learned to fight, didn't you?
Lydia: Only a little.
Meredith: You learned more than you think you did, and faster than an ordinary person would.
Lydia: But that doesn't matter now.
Meredith: It does, because I'll teach you the rest. I'm going to show you how to use your voice. How to use it as a weapon.

[Theo has just intervened after Scott defeated the rest of the Chimeras in his pack]
Theo: Okay, maybe they're not ready to take on an Alpha. Especially one that can smell fear.
Corey: [defensively] He's got fangs!

[Theo is talking to Scott and Stiles about the Beast]
Theo: You're going to leave here thinking that you need to worry about me, but you're wrong. We're actually back on the same side, because that thing? That's what we need to worry about-- your pack, and mine. We're gonna go back to school and pretend like we're normal teenagers. But at night, we're going to be fighting for our lives.
Scott: What is it?
Theo: It's not a Chimera.
Scott: But it's just a kid underneath. Someone like us.
Theo: Not anymore.

[Hayden has just come to talk to Liam at the animal clinic]
Hayden: Did you really almost kill Scott to save me?
Liam: [embarrassed] It was a supermoon? But... yeah, I guess I did.
Hayden: That's really screwed up, Liam. He's one of your best friends.
Liam: Yeah... And now you're with Theo, who told me to kill him.
Hayden: [sighs] Something's different now. I don't know why, but ever since coming back, nothing feels the same. Nothing feels right.
Liam: [slightly hurt] Nothing?
Hayden: ...Except for you. You're the only thing that feels the same. The only thing that feels right. I guess, I just want to know... how you feel about me.

[Scott is sitting next to Stiles on the floor while Stiles recovers from the kanima venom from Tracy's claws and groans when he realizes Theo purposely destroyed the message left in mercury by the Dread Doctors]
Scott: He knew what it meant, and I can't remember the words.
Stiles: [sighs] Damnatio Memoriae. It means the condemnation of memory. I think it also means that whatever the Dread Doctors created, whatever this last Chimera really is, it's not something new. It's something old. Really old.
Scott: So, they didn't create a new creature...
Stiles: [grimly] They resurrected one.

[Argent has just cured Gerard by giving him a yellow wolfsbane plant to eat. Once he's finished, Gerard stands to his feet and looks at Argent with mild exasperation]
Gerard: All this to help Scott?
Argent: You know about the Dread Doctors, don't you?
Gerard: So, they did succeed?
Argent: [annoyed] Tell me what it is.
Gerard: Oh, not what it is. What it was. A monster whose only purpose was to kill. Not for sustenance, not for revenge, not for any rational impulse other than the drive to end life wherever it's found. It also has a rather personal connection to our family.
Argent: [shocked] La Bête.
Gerard: [smirks] The Beast of Gévaudan.

Scott: We need help. If Theo's got his own pack now, then we need ours. We have to get the others back.
Stiles: The others? You mean Kira, who's currently battling a homicidal fox spirit inside of her; Malia, who isn't even speaking to either one of us; Lydia, who's stuck in Eichen House; and Liam, who almost killed you?
Scott: [smiles] Also known as our best friends.
Stiles: [sighs] Okay. How?
Scott: One at a time.

Stiles: I still hate that tattoo.
Scott: I know.

[Kira and Noshiko have just arrived to Shiprock, New Mexico, where they're in the middle of the desert]
Kira: How do we find them?
Noshiko: Skinwalkers are powerful shapeshifters, and not particularly welcoming to strangers on their land. They'll find us.

Codominance [5.13]

[edit]
[Kira has just been beaten in battle with the three Skinwalkers, one of which has pinned her against a large boulder by impaling her in the shoulder with her spear. The three Skinwalkers look at her curiously for a moment while Noshiko watches anxiously, and they speak in distorted voices]
Skinwalker 1: She's frightened... But she's not frightened of us.
Skinwalker 2: Of herself.
Noshiko: Can you help her?
Skinwalker 1: We can try.
Skinwalker 2: If not, she stays.
Kira: What... What does that mean?
Skinwalker 1: If we can't help you, you'll stay and become one of us. A Skinwalker.
Skinwalker 2: You'll walk with us under the sun, through the dust.
Skinwalker 3: Forever.

[Stiles is working on fixing up his Jeep in the garage when Scott joins him after rejecting Liam's request to go with them to find Kira in Shiprock, New Mexico]
Stiles: So, what did he want?
Scott: To help.
Stiles: You gonna let him?
Scott: [sighs] Eventually... I guess.
Stiles: Okay, but shouldn't he be a little higher on your priority list right now? I mean, since he's the only other actual werewolf-- your only actual Beta.
Scott: You didn't see the way that he came at me. You didn't see the look in his eyes...
Stiles: Well, I've been with you on a full moon, so I've seen that look. [He sighs and closes the hood to the Jeep] You want to get the band back together, Scott? You don't leave out the drummer.

[Tracy and Theo are at the high school looking for the Beast, where they have found a message scrawled on the lockers-- "DAMNATIO MEMORIAE"]
Tracy: It's the same message, isn't it? What are they trying to tell it?
Theo: Trying to get it to remember who it was.
Tracy: But isn't it just a teenager like us? Isn't it just a kid underneath?
Theo: They don't care about that. The Doctors, they needed a body because they couldn't resurrect the Beast out of thin air. That kid underneath, whoever it is, is just a side effect. All the Doctors care about is the Beast.
Tracy: So, what happens when it does remember?
Theo: I'm not sure. The thing probably doesn't even know it turns back to human during the day.
Tracy: I read that the Beast of Gévaudan killed 113 people. Is that true?
Theo: [smirks] No. The Doctors told me it was closer to 500.

[The Doctors have just found Theo and Tracy and have just defeated Tracy in a fight]
The Surgeon: Leave.
Theo: Where is it?
The Surgeon: You already have your pack.
Theo: It wasn't enough. [He flashes his gold Chimera eyes] Look at my eyes. They look red to you? I'm not an Alpha. I'm not even a real werewolf!

[The third Skinwalker is wrapping up Kira's injured shoulder inside a small hut]
Skinwalker 3: This will speed the healing.
Kira: [sarcastically] You could have just not thrown a spear at me.
Skinwalker 3: You had a sword. You could have used it.
Kira: I thought I did...
Skinwalker 3: You were afraid to use the sword. I showed you I wasn't afraid to use the spear.

[Noshiko has just come in to check on Kira]
Kira: What happens now?
Noshiko: They're going to test you. Tonight. It's not going to be easy.
Kira: Have they mentioned anything about fixing me?
Noshiko: They have their methods. It takes time.
Kira: [anxiously] How much time? Days?
Noshiko: [grimly] Months. Or years.
Kira: Are you kidding?!
Noshiko: [sternly] Don't think I take this lightly, Kira.
Kira: [desperately] Mom, years?
Noshiko: You're Kitsune. You have centuries.

Kira: What about my friends? What about Scott?
Noshiko: [tearfully] If this part of you becomes too powerful, it will consume you. Do you understand what that means? You wont even exist anymore.
Kira: So, this is it? This is all I've got? I pass their test and then I can spend a couple months, or, if I'm really lucky, years, learning from a couple of crazy, half-naked women carrying spears and wearing animal pelts?
Noshiko: You carry a sword and you wear a leather jacket. We're not so different from them.
Kira: What if they can't help me? Do I really become one of them?
Noshiko: If you become a Skinwalker and stay with them, it could keep you alive. It could be the only thing that saves you.
Kira: All the myths about Skinwalkers say they're evil.
Noshiko: [smiles weakly] They say the same thing about Kitsune.

[Scott is reading an old book while he and Stiles drive to New Mexico in the Jeep]
Stiles: You find anything yet?
Scott: They're mostly the same stuff you already knew. "Damnatio memoriae was a Roman practice, a government decree to destroy the images of the damned. And they would scratch off their names from inscriptions, chisel their face off of statues... The Romans believed it was a punishment worse than death."
Stiles: ...Being forgotten.
Scott: Listen to this-- "Damnatio memoriae was later used on a serial killer in 1598 known as the Demon Tailor. He lured children into his shop in Paris, where he would kill them and boil the flesh off of their bones to eat. The courts believed the crimes so horrible, they ordered all the documents destroyed. To this day, no one knows his real name."
Stiles: [sighs] So, the Dread Doctors resurrected a killer who was so bad that he had to literally be erased from history.
Scott: A killer that became a werewolf.
Stiles: Which probably made him a better killer. Great.

Hayden: Gonna talk to me?
Liam: I'm reading the instructions.
Hayden: [sighs] You know what I mean.
Liam: You mean, how you're hanging out with a total psycho who tried to get me to kill Scott and then did it himself? Yeah, okay. Let's-let's talk about that.
Hayden: That "total psycho" brought me back to life. Remember that? I'm not dying again.
Liam: You don't have to--
Hayden: [interrupts him] Why? Because Scott's gonna save us? He doesn't even know what's coming.
[Before Hayden can say more, she's interrupted by Ms. Finch]

[Corey is trying to get Mason to go on a second date with him]
Corey: You like me. Go out with me.
Mason: But you're still with Theo. You... You're the bad guys.
Corey: [sighs] There are no bad guys.
Mason: [incredulously] There are definitely bad guys! Some of the bad guys are called Dread Doctors. You don't get a name like "Dread Doctors" and not get classified as the bad guys.
Corey: [frustrated] That's what none of you get. There aren't gonna be any good guys or bad guys. It's either gonna be dead or alive. I want to be alive. Don't you?
Mason: Not if I'm left standing with the bad guys.

[Noshiko has unwrapped Kira's wounded shoulder and is surprised and a little scared to find that the wound has completely vanished, though she covers it up well]
Noshiko: You're already healed. Kira, you're going to be fine.
Kira: [worriedly] Would you really leave me here? With them?
Noshiko: If it's the only thing that saves your life, then yes.
Kira: What if I can't pass their test? What if I fail?
Noshiko: [sighs] Don't. Fail.

Stiles: There was a pin. There was one little metal pin attached to the scaffolding. He was trying to pull me down.
Scott: [about Donovan] He was trying to kill you.
Stiles: Yes. And then I pulled the pin, and all these metal braces came down... And one of them just, just went right through him.
Scott: [sadly] Why didn't you think you could tell me?
Stiles: It was just the way you were looking at me that night. You know, you were standing there with a wrench in your hand, and you're looking at me like I just bashed you in the head with it. You know, like I'd broken your sacred rule and that's it. There's no going back.
Scott: I know the difference.
Stiles: What?
Scott: I know what self-defense is.

Scott: [about Theo] I don't know why I believed him. I don't know why we didn't just keep talking that night. Five more minutes, and we would've figured out that there were two different stories. We would've filled a lot of blanks. We should've kept talking.
Stiles: He knew we wouldn't.
Scott: I didn't want it to happen like this.
Stiles: Like what?
Scott: I knew, sooner or later, one of us was going to get a little too much blood on our hands. [He laughs nervously] I half-thought it was gonna be Malia.
Stiles: [shrugs] Well, she definitely seems like she's working on it...
Scott: I just always thought that if it were to happen, then it should be me. I'm the one who's constantly putting you guys in danger, risking your lives for people you don't even know. It should've been me.

[Theo finds Malia at the animal clinic, looking through Deaton's belongings in hopes of finding some clue as to where they can find him]
Theo: Can't find him, can you? Probably don't even know where to start. You're not gonna find him. Let's be honest-- he's probably already dead. I wonder what's gonna happen when Scott realizes that it's your fault?
[Malia furiously grabs Theo and pins him against the wall in a choke-hold]
Malia: I should kill you.
Theo: [smirks] Yeah, but you won't. You like me too much.

[Kira has just found Noshiko after her test]
Kira: I won. I passed the test.
[Just then, the Skinwalkers appear beside them]
Skinwalker 1: Passed, yes. But not you.
Skinwalker 3: The Fox.
Kira: [shakes her head] What are you talking about? I beat it. I won. Now, show me what I'm supposed to do.
Skinwalker 2: You wield the sword.
Skinwalker 1: But the Fox wields you.
Kira: What the hell does that mean?
Skinwalker 1: It means you have no control.
Skinwalker 3: No hope.
Skinwalker 2: Without us.
Skinwalker 1: It means you will stay and become one of us.

Hayden: What are you doing?
Liam: Trying not to get involved.
Hayden: Does that include me?
Liam: Maybe.
Hayden: [sighs] I know how you look up to Scott, and how all of you feel about him. But he just can't protect us the way Theo can. My sister...
Liam: Your sister's a Sheriff's deputy, and she looks like she can handle herself.
Hayden: Not if I'm dead. She's not gonna be able to handle that at all. I can't die again, Liam. Do you get it? It would ruin her.
Liam: It would ruin me, too.

Noshiko: Kira, get in the car.
Kira: What?!
Noshiko: Kira, get in the car.
Skinwalker 1: She stays with us.
[Noshiko pulls out her own sword and gets into a defensive position]
Noshiko: I'm Kitsune of 900 years. You want her? You'll have to go through me.

[After Scott and Stiles have rescued Kira and Noshiko, Kira cups Scott's face in her hands in the backseat]
Kira: You came back for me. I love you. I love you so much.

[Kira has just woken Scott up from a nap in his bed, and when he opens his eyes, he is surprised to see Liam and Mason standing in front of them]
Kira: Scott, wake up.
Scott: What's wrong?
Mason: I found something out from Corey. We know what Theo's doing.
Liam: He's looking for an Alpha. A blind Alpha.
Scott: [shocked] Deucalion.

The Sword and the Spirit [5.14]

[edit]
Argent: This isn't going to look like anything we've seen before, is it?
Gerard: Oh, there were a lot of descriptions of the Beast of Gévaudan. Everything from a red-furred giant wolf to a cloven-hoofed panther the size of a horse. But my grandfather gave me a description that was a bit stranger.
Argent: How strange?
Gerard: He said the body was oil black. Solid but shapeless at the same time... Like a shadow pretending to be real.
Argent: How do we stop it?
Gerard: As far as legend goes, the only weapon that proved effective was a simple spear in the hands of a young woman.
Argent: ...The Maid of Gévaudan.

Sheriff: [about Argent] He also said you guys might know what this thing is.
Scott: We've got a theory.
Stiles: It's a slightly terrifying theory...

Stiles: Hey, what if the Dread Doctors are hiding the bodies?
Kira: Why would they do that?
Scott: Maybe they're covering for it. Protecting it like a parent would.
Sheriff: Protecting what?
Scott: A werewolf.
Kira: It's called the Beast.
[Sheriff grimaces]
Stiles: We know. Horrifying.
Sheriff: We better figure out what we're gonna call Parrish... Because it looks like his dream is coming true.

[Meredith is in Lydia's mind through their banshee connection, where she's teaching her how to use her voice as a weapon with little success]
Lydia: How did you learn?
Meredith: [nervously] It doesn't matter. You have to find your own way.
Lydia: What if your way works for me too?
Meredith: [urgently] Lydia-- find your way.
Lydia: [frustrated] But none of this is even real! My body's lying in a room down the hall, staring at the ceiling.
[Meredith screams at the top of her lungs with such force that Lydia is thrown backward down the hall until she slams into the far wall]
Meredith: [smugly] Did that feel real?

[Scott and Stiles have just found Deputy Strauss in the hallway of the high school with a huge shotgun in his hands]
Stiles: You don't think this is a bit much in terms of firepower for a high school?
Strauss: Your dad's the one that issued us these things, and he wouldn't officially say why.
Scott: Did he say anything unofficially?
Strauss: No, but everyone's got a theory.
Stiles: What's yours?
Strauss: [nervously] I shouldn't be talking to you guys. Don't you have class?
Stiles: Come on, Strauss! What's your theory?
Strauss: [hesitates] Do you guys believe in the supernatural?
[Stiles and Scott give each other alarmed looks]

Ken: You're still stronger than the Fox. Remember that.
Kira: [anxiously] But I'm useless without a weapon. I'm useless to my friends.
Ken: You always have a weapon-- the most powerful weapon of all.
Kira: If you tap me on the forehead and say, "Your mind is your most powerful weapon," I'm going to scream.
Ken: [laughs] I wasn't going to tap you on the forehead. But... The sword is a gateway to the Fox. And the Fox is too dangerous. [He sighs] Your mind is a weapon, Kira. Trust yourself. You can still outfox the Fox.

[Malia and Braeden are preparing to track down the Desert Wolf at the animal clinic while Theo watches them in amusement]
Malia: What's the problem?
Braeden: Besides the fact that I've never seen this place beyond a few aerial photos and we're basically going in blind? [She aims her shotgun at Theo] Him.
Theo: Would you mind not pointing that thing at me?
Malia: [sighs] He's coming with us.
Braeden: He tried to kill Scott!
Theo: [smirks] Technically, I did kill Scott.
[Braeden puts her finger on the trigger of her gun and sneers at him]
Braeden: I should kill you.
Theo: Won't happen with a shotgun.

Theo: I did what I had to do to survive. The Dread Doctors wanted everybody dead. I convinced them that it could just be Scott.

Braeden: [about the Desert Wolf] Don't be so confident. She's known to carry pretty heavy firepower.
Theo: [confused] But what do werecoyote need with guns?
Braeden: There's a story. I don't know all the details, but something happened a long time ago. Somehow, she lost part of her power. She's not as fast or as strong as she used to be... But, she can still pull a trigger, and she's a perfect shot.

[Malia and Braeden are arguing over whether or not their plan to catch the Desert Wolf is a trap]
Malia: I'm not walking away on a maybe.
Braeden: And I'm not walking in on so much uncertainty.
Malia: [sighs] You said you've been after her for years.
Braeden: [exasperatedly] And why do you think it's been years? Because she knows what she's doing. She took Scott's boss for a reason. We don't know what it is. We don't know if she's back in Beacon Hills because she missed you all this time and can't wait for a mother-daughter reunion, or if she's planning to put a bullet in your head. We don't know anything.
Malia: We know one thing-- we know where she is. I'm going in. I have to.

Lydia: Meredith, please. Tell me how you did it.
Meredith: [sighs] You have to find your own way.
Lydia: Why can't you tell me yours?
Meredith: Because... my way got people hurt. Some days, it was quiet for me. Other days, all I could hear was screaming. People dying.
Lydia: What people?
Meredith: Everyone. Everywhere. I was in chemistry class when it happened. I had my hands over my ears. My teacher was trying to figure out what was wrong. I took my hands and I started hitting the desk... until I couldn't take it anymore, and I screamed.
Lydia: ...What happened?
Meredith: All of the windows shattered. I saw kids with glass in their arms, in their faces. Some of them had blood coming out of their ears. They said it was an explosion caused by chemicals... but everyone knew it was me. Find a better way, Lydia. My voice is like a bomb going off. Yours needs to be a bullet.

[Stiles is visiting the catatonic Lydia in Eichen House]
Stiles: Your teachers, uh, gave us some of the stuff you guys have been working on. They wanted us to hold onto it for you. I saw something about the, uh, Riemann Hypothesis. Um, things like... nontrivial zeros, zeta functions, and a lot of other stuff that goes totally over my head. Maybe you can wake up and explain it to me? [Stiles hesitates and sighs] Oh, come on, Lydia. You have to come back to us. There's no way we're getting through this without you. Lydia, you have to wake up.

Liam: I was just trying to do something right.
Scott: You do a lot right.
Liam: Yeah, but I did one thing really wrong.
Scott: Hayden's alive. Everything before that doesn't matter.
Liam: It should. I feel like I have to do more than just say sorry.
Scott: [amused] Actually... you still haven't done that.
Liam: [sighs] Back at my old school, at Devenford... I got into a fight with this kid. I knocked two of his teeth out. They made me write a letter of apology. We both knew it meant nothing. We both knew that sooner or later, we're gonna get into another fight. I can't just say I'm sorry. I feel like I have to do something. Like, maybe... somehow... I have to save your life.
Scott: [smiles] Don't worry. I'm pretty sure you'll get a chance.

[Scott and Liam have just found Argent hiding in the Dread Doctors' laboratory. Scott senses Gerard's presence and gives Argent a hilariously disappointed look]
Scott: You didn't.
Argent: I had to.
Gerard: [smiles] Hello, Scott.
[Scott's eyes flare red as Gerard approaches him, and Gerard looks genuinely surprised]
Gerard: I haven't seen that color on you. It suits you.

Liam: [to Scott] Who's the old guy?
Gerard: [laughs] Uh, at the moment, they would call me a necessary evil. But you can call me Gerard.
Scott: [to Argent] What were you thinking?
Argent: That we need him.
Gerard: He's right. If you want to catch a werewolf like the Beast of Gévaudan, you're going to need more than one Argent.
Argent: [sighs] He knows all the stories. All the folklore. Everything written, and everything passed down.

[Argent and Gerard have just showed Scott and Liam the fresco painting with the two beast-like creatures fighting each other]
Argent: The one on the right is the Beast of Gévaudan.
Scott: Do you know what the other one is?
Gerard: The Hellhound. The guardian of supernatural places. They're both creatures of the night. But you may know them as ordinary creatures during the day. And, most likely, neither of them know what they are.

[Gerard has just pulled out a blowtorch as Argent starts to move closer to Parrish]
Gerard: You said you came to Beacon Hills because you felt drawn here. You hid the bodies of the Chimeras. You've got a resistance to fire.
[Argent grabs Parrish by the arms and pins them behind his back as Gerard aims the blowtorch at his face]
Gerard: We were wondering... Just how flame retardant are you, Deputy?
Parrish: What the hell are you doing?

[Parrish has just revealed his Hellhound nature to Gerard and Argent, shocking even himself]
Parrish: Hellhound?
[Argent nods at him. Parrish glares at Gerard]
Parrish: And what if you were wrong? Would you have burned my eye out?
Gerard: [smiles] Yeah.
[Parrish looks at Argent in exasperation]
Parrish: This guy's your father?
Argent: [shrugs] Wasn't my choice.

Desert Wolf: You know, your real name isn't Malia... You don't have a name. Talia Hale took you away from me before I could give you one. What you do have is power. Strength, speed, and the capacity to heal. You know who you stole it from, Malia? You know who you stole it from? Me.

Malia: I killed them because of you! I killed my own family!
Desert Wolf: Your adopted family. I'm your family, sweetheart. But, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't care about them. I was just trying to kill you.

[Theo has just returned to the lab to find Tracy, Corey, and Josh beaten and bloodied. Across the room, Deucalion is sitting, hooked up to the same tank of black-looking fluid through a large IV tube in his arm]
Theo: All this to take down one blind werewolf?
Deucalion: Recently reblinded. Unfortunately, the healing of my eyes by a dark Druid proved only temporary. A parting gift from my time with Scott McCall. Friend of yours?
Theo: We're working through some issues.
Tracy: He knows why he's here. He knows about the Beast.
Deucalion: Hmmm. The Beast of Gévaudan. History's most vicious, most famous werewolf. And you think I'm going to show you how to steal its power?
Theo: I think you're open to negotiation. All you have to do is tell me what you want.
Deucalion: I want his eyes... on the tip of my claws. I want the eyes of Scott McCall.

[The newly-reconnected McCall Pack (excluding Lydia) has just gathered in Scott's kitchen, where they have blueprints of Eichen House, visitor logs, and RFID keycards spread out on the table]
Scott: [determinedly] Now we get Lydia.

Amplification [5.15]

[edit]
[Sheriff Stilinski, Deputy Clarke, and several other deputies are in their cruisers, following eyewitness reports that match the description of the Beast as the dispatcher keeps them updated]
Sheriff: [to Clarke] Unit 5, I need eyes on Parrish. Does anyone have Parrish's 20?
Dispatcher: All units, we have a 911 emergency call reporting a man on fire running into Beacon Memorial...
Sheriff: [sighs] Clarke, disregard.

[Deaton, Stiles, and Scott are at the animal clinic, where Deaton has just pulled out a stack of old Polaroid photos, all of which depict various supernatural creatures with bloody holes drilled into their heads]
Deaton: What I'm about to show you isn't supposed to exist. This is the only surviving evidence of Dr. Valack's time as Chief Medical Officer at Eichen House. To call it human experimentation would be... charitable.
[Stiles' eyes widen at a photo of a woman who is painfully covering her ears with her hands]
Deaton: A Banshee. She died screaming.
Stiles: So, he drilled holes into their heads? All of them?
Deaton: That was the experimentation part. He did it to werewolves, Banshees, wendigos... any creature he could get his hands on. And Valack found that trephination would initially heighten their powers, but to levels that couldn't be contained.
Scott: So, he wants to make Lydia more powerful.
Stiles: Yeah, except she's going to end up like them.
Deaton: Worse, actually. Lydia's abilities were already pretty exceptional to begin with. Putting a hole in her head will be like causing a leak in a nuclear reactor. She'll hear everything-- every death, every dying scream, all at once.
Scott: [worriedly] That's gonna kill her.
Deaton: Not only that... Her own dying scream could be so powerful that it might kill everyone around her.

[Scott, Stiles, Kira, Malia, and Liam are gathered in the McCall House kitchen, where they're outlining their rescue plan]
Stiles: There's four steps-- we get into Eichen, we get into the closed unit, we get Lydia, and get out.
Scott: And, we have to do all of this while getting past orderlies, guards, electric door locks, and a mountain ash barrier.
Malia: [skeptically] You have a plan for all of that?

[Stiles holds up an RFID keycard]
Stiles: I stole this last night off an orderly... But, it's useless, 'cause they reset the codes each night.
Malia: So, why did you take it?
Stiles: I'm getting to that.
Scott: The only way to get Lydia out of Eichen is to make that keycard work again.
Liam: How are you gonna do that?
Stiles: We're getting to that, okay? Just listen. Two weeks ago, there was a brownout, and the security system rebooted. During a reboot, all of the keycards revert back to a default code.
Liam: So, if we trigger a reboot, the card goes back to the default code, it works again!

Kira: How are we gonna cause a brownout?
Scott: That's your part. You're going to draw power from the main line, but only enough to cause the brownout.
Stiles: Not a blackout-- you do that, and you send Eichen into lockdown, which would be bad. Very, very bad. There's an electrical room behind the reception counter. The main power line goes into two breakers that run power to all of Eichen.
Kira: [panicked] Okay, slight problem-- I don't know how to do that.
Scott: That's okay! You have time to practice.

Stiles: And, when we're gone, all anyone's going to think is that there was a reboot of the system caused by a brownout. Uh, any questions?
Liam: How do we get into Eichen House in the first place?
Malia: What's our worst-case scenario?
Kira: What if I can't do it?
Stiles: [overwhelmed] Okay, admittedly, a lot could go wrong...
Liam: [exasperatedly] Everything could go wrong.
Scott: [sighs] Guys, if we don't do this, we lose Lydia. She's going to die in there tonight... and she might take a lot of innocent people with her.

[Malia and Kira are in the chemistry lab, where they've set up a light bulb in an electrical circuit box to help Kira practice siphoning electricity. Malia makes a face at her]
Kira: What?
Malia: Do it. Do your thing.
Kira: [anxiously] What thing? I don't have a thing.
Malia: You did it before. You had to learn how, right?
Kira: Actually, no... It just happened.
Malia: [confused] How'd you learn to fight with a sword?
Kira: That just kind of happened, too...?
Malia: [incredulously] So, you've never worked for anything, and basically you're a cheater?

[Stiles has just explained the plan to Parrish and asked for his assistance, handing him a set of keys to an prison transport van. Parrish slides them back]
Parrish: That's the worst plan I've ever heard.
Stiles: [exasperated] Okay, the plan is perfect, and it will work perfectly, especially if you agree to drive the van.
[Stiles slides the keys back to him, and Parrish makes a face]
Parrish: Is the Sheriff on board with this?
Stiles: How do you think I got the keys?
Parrish: [scoffs] I thought you stole them!
Stiles: [shrugs] While that's a perfectly reasonable assumption, I did not steal them. And, we need you because all of the Eichen guards know all of the Sheriff's deputies. We need a real deputy, and one who won't ask questions.
Parrish: [quietly] It's not safe to bring me along. I'm dangerous.
Stiles: ...So is the giant murdering werewolf that's killed over thirty people, but somehow didn't kill you...

Kira: Can I ask you a question?
Malia: [sighs] No.
Kira: Did your mother really try to kill you?
Malia: [rolls her eyes] Did your mother try to leave you in the desert with Skinwalkers?
Kira: Are you really going to try to kill her first?

[Stiles and Scott have just run into Theo in the library and are both scowling at him]
Scott: What are you doing here?
Theo: I still need to graduate.
Stiles: No. No, what you need is to be beaten, severely, with a lead pipe wrapped in barbed wire...
Theo: [sighs] Okay, I admit that mistakes were made--
Stiles: Murders! Murders were made!
Theo: You know how the Soviets helped us win World War II? They knew how to make it through a Russian winter.
Stiles: [sarcastically] That it? Okay. Thank you, Theo. Very informative.

Stiles: [about Theo and Lydia] There's no way he knows what Valack's doing. Why's he so interested in her?
Scott: He probably knows what we're all thinking-- that Lydia's got something bigger to do with this. That maybe she's the only one who can actually save us.

[Kira is discouraged due to her failure at every practice try of siphoning electricity, and Scott gives her a pep talk]
Scott: I know you can do this. [He looks at the others] Anyone here think she can't?
[When no one speaks, Scott gives them a frustrated look, and the others start to give Kira reassuring expressions]
Liam: [quickly] Not me!
Stiles: I was the one who put you in the plan.
[They all look at Malia, who remains silent for a long moment before finally replying]
Malia: What?
Stiles: [whispers] "I believe in you, too, Kira!"
Malia: [anxiously] I'm the one who's going to be locked in an electrical room with her!
[They all give Malia a look, and she sighs and turns to Kira]
Malia: You can do it.
Kira: [shakes her head] You guys are all crazy. We're gonna die.

[Kira is still struggling to cause the brownout at Eichen House]
Malia: Kira, nothing's happening.
Kira: [frustrated] I'm aware of that. I don't want to lose control, because I'm afraid I might fry the entire system.
Malia: [sighs] Stop worrying about what you might do. This isn't about you, or me-- it's about Lydia. We're here to save Lydia. We're here to save our friend.
[Kira takes a deep breath and grabs the wires, and she is able to successfully drain the electricity]

[Hayden has been left keeping watch over Deucalion in the operating theater, where he's still hooked up to the IV of wolfsbane]
Deucalion: Do I make you nervous?
Hayden: [irritably] Shouldn't you already know the answer to that?
Deucalion: [shrugs] Well, I thought it would be more polite to ask. But, yes, a girl your age shouldn't have a resting heart rate of 110 beats per minute. How about you unshackle me from this... thing... and we'll both be a little more at ease?
Hayden: [scoffs] How stupid do you think I am?
Deucalion: Since I highly doubt you want me to answer that question honestly, let me propose an alternative-- you set me free, and I'll tell you a secret about those talons sitting in that jar over there. [Hayden looks at him in shock] I may be blind, but my other senses paint a very detailed picture.

Deucalion: I know the talons were created by the Dread Doctors.
Hayden: So, what?
Deucalion: So, Theo believes he can fit them onto his own claws like a couple of press-on nails? Use them to siphon the power from the Beast? [He chuckles] Good luck with that.
Hayden: What do you mean?
Deucalion: The Dread Doctors would have designed those talons with a specific frequency. For a specific person. As a genetic chimera yourself, I would have thought you'd understand how often the body rejects an organ, especially one from an outside donor.
Hayden: [horrified] If he puts them on, then...
Deucalion: Yes, Hayden. They'll kill him.

[Stiles has just found Lydia in the closed unit and is horrified to see that she has a hole drilled in her skull and her wrists and ankles are bound to her bed. Lydia looks equally horrified to see him as well]
Lydia: Stiles... You can't be here. You're going to die if you stay. All of you. Stiles, he's coming.
Stiles: Lydia, I'm not leaving you here.
Lydia: [anxiously] You have to!

Schrader: Visiting hours are well past over.
Tracy: We're not here to visit.
Theo: We're here for Lydia Martin.

Valack: Stay focused, Lydia.
Lydia: What did you do to me?
Valack: I've amplified your abilities. Something that might just save the lives of your friends.
Lydia: [weakly] Theo and Hayden. They found it. They were looking for Noah, but they found a symbol. A circle inside of another circle, carved into a wall. The symbol of Scott's pack.
Valack: It was more than a symbol, wasn't it? It was a promise to reunite them.
Lydia: Yes.
Valack: But has Scott done it yet? Will he be coming for you?
Lydia: Somebody's coming... but it's not Scott.

Scott: [to Liam] Come on. We're getting Lydia out of here.

Lie Ability [5.16]

[edit]
[Hayden and Liam are talking after having sex in Liam's bedroom]
Liam: Don't go.
Hayden: I have to.
Liam: Stay.
Hayden: [smiles] Stay here? With you?
Liam: Stay with us.

Liam: [about the Beast] If Theo thinks he's gonna be able to take its power, he's crazy. It's gonna rip his head off.
Hayden: But you think Scott can save everyone?
Liam: I know he can. It's different now. I think dying did something to him.
Hayden: [skeptically] It did something to me, too... But none of it was good.
Liam: What if it happened again? What if you got hurt? What would you want me to do? Now that you know everything?

[Hayden is still standing guard over Deucalion, who is still weakened by a wolfsbane IV drip, on Theo's orders while she thinks about her conversation with Liam]
Deucalion: Starting to question where your loyalties lie? Or maybe you're starting to understand your role?
Hayden: What role?
Deucalion: Why would Theo leave you here? Why not leave Josh, or Corey? You're stronger and faster than both. And more fearless.
Hayden: [sighs] I know why I'm stuck here with you... Because when it comes to Liam, I'm a liability.
Deucalion: You could leave. You could go off to help them. No one has to know.
Hayden: [scoffs] Except for you.
Deucalion: Oh, I'm no friend to Theo. You want to help Liam? Worry less about being a liability, and more about your ability to lie.

[Scott has just entered Meredith's mind with his claws, which is allowing him to also enter Lydia's mind through their Banshee connection. Lydia is on her knees on the floor, clutching her head while Scott and Meredith watch worriedly]
Meredith: She doesn't have much time.
Scott: What's happening to her?
Meredith: She's being consumed by her power. Dr. Valack thinks it's worth it if she can answer the question.
Scott: What question?
Meredith: Who is the Beast?

Scott: She can answer that?
Meredith: Not yet. Not until the screams in her head are loud enough to kill her.
Scott: [panicked] How do I get to her?
Meredith: You can't. You won't be able to get past the mountain ash. But... someone else might be able to.
Scott: Who?
Meredith: The Hellhound.
Scott: You mean Parrish?
Meredith: [nods] They're connected. Find the Hellhound... and he'll find the Banshee.

Deucalion: Five texts in two minutes? Someone's trying to get your attention. Maybe you should go. I'm obviously not going anywhere.
Hayden: [irritably] Could you please shut the hell up?
Deucalion: I have a feeling you and I are going to be friends, Hayden. I think we're going to discover a lot of common ground beneath our feet.

[Theo and Stiles are looking for where Valack took Lydia in the tunnels under Eichen House]
Stiles: I thought you had her scent?
Theo: I lost it.
Stiles: [annoyed] So, find it again!
Theo: [irritably] What do you smell down here, Stiles?
Stiles: Chemicals. And fecal matter... Although, I'm pretty sure the fecal matter is you.

Stiles: I'm gonna find her.
Theo: You know you won't, Stiles. You're going to have to trust me.
Stiles: [exasperated] Trust you? The guy who murdered his own sister when he was nine?
Theo: [offended] Yeah, I was nine years old. I also believed a guy in a red suit came down the chimney to deliver presents. So, when three people in leather masks showed up and said that my sister wanted me to have her heart, I believed them, too.
Stiles: So, then, together you gutted and killed her? That's a beautiful story.
Theo: I watched her fall into the water and freeze to death in minutes. Do you think I had any idea what was going on?
Stiles: I think you pushed her. And I think you liked it.

[Scott and Liam have just found Parrish passed out in the stairwell. He's wearing only his tattered and burned cut-off shorts and is covered in soot]
Scott: Parrish? Parrish, hey. Can you hear me?
Parrish: [confused] How did I get here?
Liam: [awkwardly] We don't know. We just followed the burning smell.

[Theo is still trying to catch Lydia's scent in the tunnels, to no avail]
Theo: Nothing.
Stiles: Great. You're just as useless as I am.
Theo: [sighs] I'm trying to help save her life!
Stiles: Would you just drop all the altruistic crap? You want Lydia because she gets you to Parrish. You want Parrish because he gets you to the Beast.
Theo: So, what? I want it dead, too.
Stiles: After you take its power, right? We know why you got the talons, and we know you're looking for Deucalion.
Theo: [smugly] I found Deucalion. You're right. I'm going to help Parrish stop the Beast. I'm going to take its power, and then I'm gonna break its neck. So, maybe I'm not the good guy in your eyes, but I might end up being the guy who saves all your asses.

[Valack is trying to get Lydia to focus as he prepares to put the mask on her down in the basement of Eichen House]
Lydia: What do you want from me?
Valack: I want your help against the Dread Doctors. They ruined me. Destroyed me. They drove me to obsession, consigned me to professional ridicule. People thought I was a monster when I was simply trying to open their eyes.
Lydia: Now you want me to be your eyes.
Valack: [nods] You'll see things, Lydia. Things no one else can see. You may not survive, but you might save the lives of your friends.

Valack: You understand what they've created?
Lydia: The Beast.
Valack: The Beast of Gévaudan. An engineered version of it. But, it's not yet fully grown. It's still bound to its host, the teenage Chimera inside. And, it still requires the Dread Doctors' protection.
Lydia: Damnatio memoriae...
Valack: That's right. The Beast was a man first-- a human killer in the late 1700s. The Dread Doctors are trying to get it to remember itself. To remember the man. When that happens, the teenager is gone.

[Malia, Kira, Josh, and Corey are locked in the morgue of Eichen House and are talking about the McCall Pack's plans]
Corey: Anybody know how we're supposed to get out of here? This place is still in lockdown.
Kira: It's not just locked.
Josh: Yeah, I can feel it, too. What are we supposed to do? Just wait here?
Malia: There's a Plan B. We've got a guy on the outside in case this happens.
Josh: Who?
Kira: Mason.
Corey: [shocked] Mason's going to unlock the lockdown? How's he going to do that?
Kira: He's got the blueprints of the building, and he has the full map of Eichen's electrical system. All he has to do is get into the transformer shed behind the building.
Malia: Don't worry-- Mason knows exactly what he's doing.
[The scene cuts to behind Eichen House, where Mason is holding his cell phone to his ear with one hand and gaping in horror at the blueprints in his other hand while he leaves Liam a voicemail]
Mason: Liam, call me back-- I have no idea what I'm doing.

Valack: This teenager, Lydia, is the last genetic chimera. A young man or young woman, maybe even someone you know. A success where Theo and the others were failures.
Lydia: But we went through the list of genetic chimeras. There's no one else.
Valack: There must be one you missed. Another way they could have two sets of DNA. If you could see the face of this teenager, discover it's identity, then your friends would stand a fighting chance. The mask can help you see.

[Stiles has just finally found Lydia after her scream killed Valack]
Lydia: You came back.
Stiles: We're getting you out of here, okay?
Lydia: [panicked] You can't! It's too dangerous.
Stiles: Lydia, please shut up and let me save your life?

[Mason is trying to psych himself up to end the lockdown by wrecking his car into the transformer]
Mason: Okay, here we go. Gonna ram the wall. Gonna ram it with my car. Just smash through it. Take out the power, and save my friends. Here we go. All right. Just ram it, and destroy my beautiful car, that my parents bought me on my birthday... but I'mma save my friends. Here we go. Ram the wall. All right.
[Mason is about to hit the gas pedal when Hayden suddenly arrives and stops him]
Hayden: What the hell are you doing?
Mason: [sighs in relief] Oh, thank God! Can we use your car?

[Stiles is trying to support Lydia as they rush through the tunnels as quickly as Lydia can move]
Stiles: Okay, you gotta try to stay on your feet. The plan didn't work out too well, so I'm gonna need your help, okay?
Lydia: [surprised] You had a plan?
Stiles: Yeah. It was good on paper. Not too much in reality.

Natalie Martin: Could somebody please get my daughter out of this hellhole?

A Credible Threat [5.17]

[edit]
[Parrish is sleeping fitfully on his couch while Argent stands guard over him. Parrish narrates his conversation with Argent in voiceover as he goes into a Hellhound-trance and leaves, causing Argent to follow after him]
Parrish: [voiceover] It happens every night. I don't know when, and I don't know what triggers it, but at some point every night, I leave. When I come back, I find burned clothes and blood. If I didn't know certain things, I'd call it "sleepwalking." But I'm not just wandering out the door. I'm heading out with purpose. I'm searching for something. That's why I need you to follow me. I need to know where I'm going and what I'm doing. If people are getting hurt because of me... If I'm adding to the body count... I have to know. When I wake up at night, when it takes over, I want you to follow me. And, if you have to... I want you to stop me.

[The Beast has just revealed itself in a school bus full of slaughtered teenagers. Argent, Scott, Stiles, and Liam stare in horror as Hellhound-Parrish and the Beast run away]
Stiles: [horrified] That's big. No one said it was that big!
Liam: [exasperated] I did!

[Melissa is leaving Malia and Braeden at the McCall House]
Melissa: I'm leaving for my shift. You guys think you'll be okay for the night?
[Braeden cocks her shotgun in answer]
Malia: Do we really need to do this? Deaton said the Desert Wolf can't get her power back unless she comes for me on a full moon.
Braeden: Just because there are rules to taking power doesn't mean she plans to follow them.
Melissa: Yeah, well, I've come up with a rule of my own--
[She pours a line of mountain ash across the threshold of the back door to complete the barrier built into the house]
Melissa: --Never be too careful.

[Corey has just showed Mason the burns from where Parrish set him on fire]
Corey: This is life in Beacon Hills. This is what happens. It doesn't hurt, it's just taking forever to heal.
Mason: But you are healing. Maybe it's taking longer because of how bad you were hurt, but it's happening. I mean, look at you. You can make yourself invisible. You're fast. You're strong. People like me need people like you to save our asses. I need you.
Corey: No, you don't. You're too smart to need anyone, and it's the smart ones who always survive.
Mason: Then survive with me.

Mason: Look, Scott's going to have a plan. They always do. A couple of weeks ago, he brought Hayden in here with cell phone jammers to block the frequency of the Dread Doctors--
[Suddenly, Mason has a dawning realization and gasps in shock]
Mason: Follow me. It's frequency-- every time the Beast shows up. Liam and Hayden saw it at the cell transmission towers. The attack downtown happened right near the Radio-Astronomy Observatory. Uh, Deaton was attacked by the Beast at an Army base which has huge radar arrays...
Corey: Still not getting it.
Mason: The Beast always shows up near a transmission source. What if that's how the Dread Doctors are doing it? By broadcasting a high-frequency transmission?
Corey: So, we should be looking for some kind of transmission?
Mason: We don't have to look. The local news always covers the game. There could be two, maybe three vans-- all of them transmitting.
Corey: [horrified] Are you saying that thing's going to be out there tonight?
Mason: I'm saying... People are going to die. A lot of people.

Sheriff Stilinski: Stiles, I'm... I'm not so sure I actually have that authority.
Stiles: [incredulously] You're the County Sheriff! You can't cancel a high school lacrosse game?
Sheriff Stilinski: It's a charity game, which generates tens of thousands of dollars. I'd have to go to the school board with evidence of a credible threat.
Stiles: A giant werewolf might rampage across the field killing people! That's an incredible threat!

[Scott and Stiles have just showed up to the rehab center to visit Coach Finstock and convince him to coach the charity game]
Coach: So, why don't you guys get the hell out of here? I hate charity games. They're meaningless.
Stiles: I don't think the charities would agree...
Coach: [sighs] What's it for this year?
Scott: ...Cancer.
Coach: For or against?
Stiles: [exasperated] Against, Coach! Deeply against!
Coach: Yeah? Okay, well, I'm deeply not interested.

[Argent and Gerard have just suggested that they lower Parrish's body temperature to talk to the Hellhound inside of him]
Argent: Well, the Beast is not just getting smarter. Imagine it this way: each night, the teenage Chimera--
Lydia: The success?
Argent: [nods] This teenager goes out into the night and transforms. Whether it's a young man or young woman, they become a werewolf. A very large, very powerful werewolf the people of Gévaudan called the Beast. Every night it transforms, it remembers a little more of who it used to be.
Gerard: It yearns for its identity. Its name. Not just the Beast of Gévaudan, but the man.
Argent: The Man of Gévaudan, who wants to live, too. He wants to exist. So, imagine that one night, the teenager goes out and transforms again. But when the Beast transforms back, the Man of Gévaudan stands there instead.
Gerard: Fully realized. Alive once again.

Lydia: That's what Valack meant. He said when the Beast remembers, the teenager would be gone.
Parrish: Gone? Like, no longer exists? How's that even possible?
[Argent, Gerard and Lydia all give him a look, and he rolls his eyes]
Parrish: Forget I asked.

[Scott, Kira, Stiles, Malia, Liam, and Mason are all going over their plan for the evening]
Malia: Just out of curiosity, what if it doesn't work? What if we have to go up against this thing? I mean, I hate to bring up bad memories, but Scott's still healing from what Theo did to him.
Kira: No, he's not.
Scott: [smiles] She's right. [He lifts his shirt and reveals that his wounds have healed] It happened the night we got Lydia out of Eichen House. I healed... when we were all together again. When we were a pack.
Liam: The Beast doesn't have a pack.
Scott: Not like us. We can do this, guys. No one dies tonight.

[After Parrish's body temperature is lowered, Argent and Gerard gesture to Lydia]
Argent: This part is for you, Lydia. You're the one who can reach him.
Lydia: [to Parrish] Jordan?
Parrish: [monotone voice] No.
Lydia: Okay... Who am I talking to?
Parrish: Cerberus. Garmr. Black Shuck. I've had many names.
Lydia: How about Jordan Parrish? [Parrish remains silent] Do you know who I am?
Parrish: The Banshee.
Lydia: What about Jordan Parrish?
Parrish: Jordan Parrish died. There is no Jordan Parrish.

[Malia has jumped from one news broadcast van to the other to cut their frequency cables, only for the Desert Wolf to appear and grab her by the ankle, causing her to fall onto the ground with a hard thud. She groans in pain and annoyance as she flips over onto her back]
Malia: [angrily] Bitch!
Desert Wolf: [smirks] I prefer "Mom."

Malia: To be honest, I'm totally up for killing you right now, but I've got other priorities.
Desert Wolf: I can see that. Got something against the local news? Somebody run a broadcast you didn't like?
Malia: Somebody's about to, and since I know you're not going to try to kill me until there's a full moon, get out of my way.
[Malia tries to shove past her, but the Desert Wolf blocks her way, and she sighs in annoyance]
Malia: People are going to die.
Desert Wolf: [scoffs] People die every day, sweetheart.
Malia: [frustrated] Stop calling me that! You don't get to call me sweetheart.
Desert Wolf: All right. What if there's a compromise? What if you come with me? We can try to solve our little predicament, and maybe I start calling you "daughter?"

Malia: I'm going to kill you.
Desert Wolf: [chuckles] You're definitely my daughter.

Liam: We need more time. You've gotta stop scoring.
Brett: [frustrated] You don't think I'm trying? You guys suck. You suck so bad it's impossible to lose against you.
Liam: So what are we supposed to do?
Brett: Try not sucking!

[Hayden has just walked up to the bench to talk to Liam after overhearing his earlier conversation with Scott]
Hayden: Hey.
Liam: Hey.
Hayden: I'm with you.
Liam: [confused] What?
Hayden: I'm with you. All of you.
Liam: ...Why?
Hayden: Because you're right about Scott. Whatever happens next... I want to be with you.

[Lydia continues to talk to the Hellhound spirit within Parrish's body]
Lydia: What are you talking about? How is Parrish dead?
Parrish: He's a body. A means to an end. I am beyond life and death. I am infinite. I have no use for your Deputy.
Lydia: But we do. We need him!
Parrish: Your Deputy won't kill the Beast.
Lydia: Neither will you! I'm a Harbinger of Death, too. I know people are going to die. And if you do not let Parrish in, he will die, too. You'll die! You have a chance with Parrish. You need him.

Argent: Lydia, tell him to remember.
Lydia: What?
Gerard: Tell him to remember the moment Parrish died.
Lydia: [to Parrish] When did he die?
Parrish: When I was born.
[Suddenly, he's overwhelmed with flashbacks cutting between Parrish being blown up by a bomb in Afghanistan and Scott, Allison and Stiles going into the ice baths for the surrogate sacrifice ritual in Season 3's "Alpha Pact"]

Maid of Gévaudan [5.18]

[edit]
[In flashbacks to the mid-1700s, Sebastien Valet writes a letter to his sister while hiding under a tree in the rain]
Sebastien: [voiceover] Dear Marie-Jeanne, I wish I had better news to report. But, even with the support of our Indian allies, we are losing this war to the British. We have heard news that Montreal has fallen. Marcel and I have both suffered injuries. All that keeps us alive is the hope of seeing our home again, and of seeing you, my sister.

[Sebastien and Marcel have just taken cover inside of a small cabin with candles in the window, where they are confronted by a woman]
Colette: You can't be here. You don't understand-- you've come to the wrong place to hide.
Marcel: Quiet!
Colette: There's something out there. Something other than the British soldiers.
Sebastien: What do you mean, "other?"
Colette: A creature of the night.
Marcel: Don't listen to her.
Colette: A shapeshifter. A demon.
Sebastien: What kind?
Marcel: Sebastien...
Sebastien: What kind of demon?
Colette: [fearfully] A Demon Wolf.

[Gerard is telling the story of Sebastien and Marie-Jeanne to Argent, Lydia, and Parrish]
Gerard: That letter would eventually find its way into the hands of a young woman. A skilled hunter who would later face the Beast, armed with nothing but a steel-tipped pike. She would be known by history as "The Maid of Gévaudan," but her real name was Marie-Jeanne.

Parrish: [about Marie-Jeanne] Maybe someone should resurrect her.
Lydia: Don't leave--
Parrish; My dreams aren't like yours, Lydia. I'm not just a Harbinger of Death-- I'm the cause of it.
[Parrish leaves, and Lydia attempts to chase after him, only to be stopped by Gerard and Argent]
Gerard: Let him go.
Lydia: Why?
Argent: Because as much as we believe Parrish could take on the Beast... Neither of us think he's our only hope at stopping it.
Lydia: What do you mean?
Argent: We think there's another. You.

[Stiles and Hayden have just brought a seriously-injured Liam into an empty classroom. Both Hayden and Stiles are horrified when they lay him on a desk and peel away his tattered jersey to reveal his chest and abdomen have been shredded open]
Hayden: Okay. Okay. What do you guys usually do when this happens?
Stiles: [woozily] Uh, I usually pass out... And I think I might still do that...

[Hayden has just taken Liam's pain by kissing him, causing her to use her werewolf ability to siphon the pain through her darkened blood vessels. Stiles looks impressed when Liam finally starts to relax and heal]
Stiles: Okay. Next time, I'll kiss him!

Gerard: Marie-Jeanne was a lot like you, Lydia. Skeptical of her own abilities, and, once, actually just as skeptical of the supernatural.

[In flashback, Monsieur Tolbert and other members of the Gévaudan community are discussing the Beast]
Bernard: Her name was Agnes. She was eleven years old. Eleven. Torn limb from limb. There wasn't enough of her left for a proper burial.
Tolbert: I am well aware. I'm also aware that every new report conflicts with the last! Some say it is part-hyena, part-wolf. It has red fur, black fur, cloven hooves, a stripe down its back!
Bernard: We know it kills at night. It targets the head and neck. This, we know for sure. It won't stop. Where the wolf finds a lamb, there he seeks another. But it never eats its victims. It kills for sport.
Tolbert: [scoffs] No animal kills for sport!
Bernard: This is no animal.
Tolbert: Tell that to the King. I have word he may send a contingent of his own professional hunters. Until then, we can use volunteers for a hunting party, especially someone to lead it.
[Just then, Sebastien and Marcel appear in the doorway of the tavern]
Sebastien: Why ask for a volunteer? We all know who the best hunter is in Gévaudan-- Marie-Jeanne, my sister.

[Marie-Jeanne, Henri, Marcel, and Sebastien are preparing the hunting party to search the woods for the Beast]
Marie-Jeanne: [to Sebastien] You believe it? I never knew you were so superstitious.
Sebastien: I don't need to believe something I saw with my own eyes.
Marie-Jeanne: And I've been through every inch of these woods and hunted just about every creature under the sun.
Henri: But not the moon...
Marie-Jeanne: Are you trying to frighten me?
Sebastien: I'm trying to warn you. You're going to need more than ordinary steal to stop the Beast.

[Malia has just called Braeden after the Beast showed up at the high school]
Malia: Braeden, it's me. I'm at the school, and we need you. Bring your shotgun. [She pauses for a moment] Bring all your shotguns.

Gerard: You should hear the rest of the story.
Lydia: [rolls her eyes] Why should I be listening to you?
Argent: He knows it better than any of us.
Lydia: [sighs] Everything I've read says that the Beast was killed by Jean Chastel.
Gerard: [scoffs] Who told you that? The Internet? If that's your most reliable source of information, then you might as well go.

[Henri has brought Marie-Jeanne to his home, surrounded by rowan trees, after nearly being attacked by the Beast. Marie-Jeanne looks at all of the bowls and bottles of ingredients on his table while he binds her wounded leg]
Marie-Jeanne: What is this?
Henri: Mountain ash.
Marie-Jeanne: And that?
Henri: Mistletoe. Please, put that down.
Marie-Jeanne: Why do you have all of this?
Henri: [sighs] To protect myself. I have spent half a lifetime gathering the implements and skills to survive a werewolf. I can teach you... if you want to know.
Marie-Jeanne: [stands] I do not care about surviving one. I want to know how to kill one.

[Marie-Jeanne has just confronted Sebastien after learning that he is the Beast, and that Marcel has been covering for him]
Marie-Jeanne: You have killed children.
Sebastien: [shrugs] I kill whatever dares to cross my path.
Marie-Jeanne: [horrified] Why?
Sebastien: It's what I am. What I've become. You've heard the old story of what happens when you drink rainwater from the pawprint of a wolf. You become the Demon Wolf.
[Marie-Jeanne looks around the room, debating whether or not to expose him]
Sebastien: Go. Go ahead. Tell them it's me. Then, watch me tear them apart in a matter of moments. Every last soul in this place.
Marie-Jeanne: You're a monster.
Sebastien: Beast, Marie-Jeanne. The Beast. You won't catch me. And you won't kill me. We're family, Marie-Jeanne. We're family.

[Braeden, Malia, and Liam arrive to help Scott fight the Beast in the library. Braeden's shotgun shells eventually cause it to run off, and Liam and Malia help Scott stand to his feet]
Braeden: You didn't seriously think you were gonna have a chance against that thing, did you?
Scott: [shakes his head] No. But I got its scent.

Gerard: [voiceover] Marie-Jeanne hunted Sebastien for three years until she finally cornered him in 1767.
[Marie-Jeanne runs toward a snow bank in the woods, grabs a large wooden pike with the steel blade forged in the shape of a fleur-de-lis, which impales Sebastien/the Beast through the chest and forces him to shift back into human]
Sebastien: You think this minor injury will stop me? I'm the famous and feared Beast of Gévaudan! And when I'm done killing, everyone will know. I will have done such horrors that all of history will remember my name!
Marie-Jeanne: No one will remember.
Sebastien: [horrified] Damnatio memoriae? You would have them take my name? Our name?
[He starts to cough up black blood]
Sebastien: What? What is this?
Marie-Jeanne: No ordinary steel. Wolfsbane and mountain ash, forged with our blood under the light of a full moon. History might remember you, Sebastien... but only as a Beast.

Lydia: Damnatio memoriae.
Argent: They erased every detail of him. Everything he signed, everything he owned.
Gerard: They burned it all. The name Sebastien Valet has been forgotten for over 150 years, but when it's remembered...
Argent: When the Beast remembers, the teenager inside is forgotten.
Gerard: Gone. Forever.

Lydia: But Marie-Jeanne didn't do it alone. She was never alone. She had help from Henri, the Magistrate, the town... even Marcel. We need Parrish. I'm going to go find him.
Argent: Lydia, he's dangerous. He's still a shapeshifter. And one who's just beginning to understand his power.
Lydia: And I'm not?
Argent: You're not the same. You access the supernatural. It works through you.
Gerard: But it doesn't control you.
Lydia: [scoffs] How would you know? Why do you care? Why are you suddenly on our side?
Gerard: Because it's my name as well. Marie-Jeanne never left Henri after the death of her brother. And their relationship became more than a partnership. They married, and she took his name.
Lydia: Argent...
Gerard: Our name will be remembered as well, Lydia-- for killing the Beast.
Lydia: But I'm not an Argent. And I'm not Allison.

The Beast of Beacon Hills [5.19]

[edit]
[Mason and Corey have just awakened in the sewer after the revelation that Mason is the Beast]
Mason: Okay, hold on. It's not me. I'm not even a genetic chimera...
Corey: You sure about that? It was on the bus, after I made us disappear... I felt something. I don't know how to describe it, but it felt wrong. Completely and totally wrong. And trust me, every other second I'm with you, it's completely and totally right.

[Josh, Tracy, and Theo are arguing over who should wear the Dread Doctor helmet while Deucalion watches]
Tracy: [to Josh] Are you not getting that it could kill us? You're the one with the power.
Deucalion: They want you to wear it, Josh, because the properties of the mask are based in electromagnetism. Pick it up, and you'll see.

Josh: [about the mask] What is this thing?
Deucalion: The product of genius and madness-- two traits too often found in the same mind. The man who created the first was known only as "The Surgeon." Using practices in the farthest edges of pseudoscience, he harnessed electromagnetic fields in the masks, infusing them with a unique and deadly power.

[Sheriff and Lydia have just confronted Parrish on his way to leave town]
Parrish: [frustrated] You're both out of your minds! You know that?
Lydia: You can't leave.
Parrish: I can't stay! I'm a Hellhound. I have the word "Hell" in my name. Hell!

Parrish: You guys don't get it. The bodies I see in my dreams are because of me. And there's gonna be more-- a lot more.
Lydia: I've been predicting death longer than you. The things I've seen and felt... They don't always happen.
Sheriff Stilinski: What if those people die because you didn't stay?
Lydia: Because you weren't there to protect them? You said you were drawn to Beacon Hills. I think you're here for a reason.

[Braeden and Malia are talking to Stiles at the McCall House]
Malia: You know how my mother wants to kill me? I think she might want to kill you, too.
Stiles: Okay. Uh, that's disconcerting. I should probably have a gun...
[Braeden scoffs and makes a face]
Braeden: I'm not giving you a gun!
Stiles: You have a gun. The Desert Wolf-- who is trying to kill me-- has a gun. I think I should probably have a gun!
[Malia gives Braeden a look, and Braeden sighs before removing the clip from one of her handguns and tossing it to Stiles, who hilariously fumbles with it helplessly until he drops it on the floor. Braeden gives him a "I told you so" look, and Stiles looks embarrassed]
Stiles: I probably shouldn't have a gun...

[Tracy, Josh, and Theo are still talking about the Beast in the Dread Doctors' lair while Deucalion watches. Tracy holds out the jar with Belasko's talons]
Tracy: What about this?
Theo: They're useless if we don't know who it is.
Deucalion: Actually, they're just useless. Didn't Hayden mention that? Where is she, by the way? I hope her moment of dissent didn't turn into actual desertion. [He inhales deeply] What about the other one? Corey? None of us can see him, blind or otherwise, so I'm guessing he's not here either.
Josh: [annoyed] I'm leaving.
Deucalion: Oh, there goes another. [He looks at Theo] Your circle of trust is narrowing.

Deucalion: Tell me, Tracy-- just how powerless were you before this all happened? In my experience, it's the truly powerless who are all too eager to demonstrate their new-found strength. So, allow me to demonstrate something more helpful to our cause.
[He easily stands up and pulls the wolfsbane IV out of his arm]
Deucalion: Trust. I told you I wanted Scott McCall's eyes. That's why I let you take me. Why I've been a willing guest this entire time.

[Kira is trying to convince her father to put her sword back together]
Ken: As your father, I'm obliged to warn you this is dangerous.
Kira: As my father, I was hoping you wouldn't tell my mother.
Ken: [smiles] That's dangerous, too.
Kira: [sighs] I get it, Dad. I need to learn balance. I can't learn balance with the sword-- the sword brings out the Fox.
Ken: You know it's more complicated than that. Learning balance is critical to controlling the Fox.
Kira: What if the sword is critical to saving my friends?
Ken: It's just a weapon, Kira. You're the critical part.
Kira: I've got eight hundred years to learn balance. We need to help Mason right now. I need my sword.
Ken: [sighs] It was forged with a unique power. It takes a certain power to put it back together again. You're going to need help.

Theo: [sighs] Okay. What now?
Deucalion: I teach you what you're so desperate to learn.
[Deucalion lunges for him and breaks Theo's arm]
Deucalion: Feel that, Theo? That's the secret to taking power. Pain.
[Deucalion starts to take Theo's pain]
Deucalion: Take their pain, take their life, take their power. It's all or nothing. You take until there's nothing more to give. That's where you'll find the spark of power. And then, you take that as well. Pain, life, power. In that order and only that order.

[Theo has just killed Josh and has absorbed his powers]
Theo: I can feel it.
Deucalion: [rolls his eyes] Good. 'Cause you just cost yourself one member of a small and inexperienced pack.
Theo: [to Tracy] What do you think?
Tracy: I think he was small and inexperienced. And, if you've got his power now, you can put on the mask.

Deucalion: This kind of power requires risk, Theo. Do it. Put on the mask. Discover the Beast's identity and guarantee your place as an Alpha. As a real werewolf.

Liam: How stupid are we to be doing this?
Scott: We're not stupid-- we're desperate.
Liam: How desperate?
Scott: [sighs] Incredibly desperate.

Theo: I told you we'd end up on the same side.
Liam: [smirks] How about I punch you in the balls to remind you we're not?
Theo: [laughs] I love this kid.
Tracy: [scoffs] I don't.

Stiles: Still nothing from Scott and Liam.
Lydia: Are we really sure this is a good idea?
Stiles: Uh, no. No one thinks this is a good idea.
Sheriff Stilinski: But you're trusting Theo anyway?
Stiles: We're not trusting him, we're using him.
Lydia: What if he's using us?
Stiles: ...That's probably a given.

[Theo is talking about the body in the tank that the Dread Doctors keep in their laboratory with Scott and Liam]
Theo: They called him Der Soldat. That's German for "The Soldier." I'm pretty sure he fought in World War II.
Scott: And he was a Nazi?
Theo: And an Alpha werewolf. The Dread Doctors were using him to prolong their lives. They've been doing it for decades. Actually, probably longer.
Liam: How old are these guys?
Theo: Who knows? But wherever they go, he goes, too.

[Theo, Scott, and Liam are walking through the woods to find where the Dread Doctors are keeping Mason]
Scott: Where is he?
Theo: [plays dumb] I thought we were looking for him?
Scott: You know who I'm talking about.
Theo: Deucalion?
Scott: You shouldn't trust him.
Theo: And you're the one who let him live.
Scott: I'm not a murderer.
Theo: [laughs] You still think you're gonna get through all this without killing anyone?
Scott: [sighs] I didn't say that.

[Kira has called Scott and gotten his voicemail]
Kira: [on voicemail] Hey, it's me. Oh, God, I wish you had just picked up, I hate leaving messages. I always ramble. I always say stupid things. And then, when I finally get to the super-important thing that I'm supposed to say, the voicemail cuts me off, and...
[The voicemail beeps and cuts off her message, and Kira sighs before calling him back to leave a second message]
Kira: [awkwardly] Me again. I have to leave. But, I'm coming back to help, I promise. Because you're right, Scott-- if anyone is going to save Mason, it's you. It's us.

Lydia: You okay?
Stiles: Yeah, I'm still thinking... Still trying to figure out, why Mason? I mean, he wasn't even on the genetic chimera list...
[Melissa arrives with a medical file in her hands, which she immediately opens and lays on the desk]
Melissa: He is now. Mason was born with twin embolization syndrome.
Lydia: [shocked] You mean fetal resorption?
Melissa: Mmhmm.
Lydia: He had a vanishing twin in utero?
Melissa: [nods] Which accounts for two sets of DNA.
Stiles: Can someone please say it with words that have less than three syllables?
Melissa: [shortly] He ate his twin.
Stiles: Oh, God!

[The Dread Doctors have just arrived while Scott, Liam, and Theo are trying to free Mason from the medical device plugged into his skull]
Theo: He's coming with us.
The Surgeon: Failure. Theo Raeken.
Theo: I'm not a failure.
The Surgeon: Not a complete failure. We learned from you.
Scott: Theo, he's trying to get to you. This is what they want, don't give it to them. We can't beat them.
The Surgeon: The mark of a true failure-- repeating the same mistake again and again.
[Theo wolfs-out]
Theo: We're taking Mason. Then, I'm taking what's mine.

Gerard: Mason?
Argent: Mason Hewitt. He's a sophomore. Liam's best friend.
Gerard: And a mass murderer.
Argent: We're going to need to tell Scott the rest.
Gerard: Not necessarily.
Argent: If there's a way to save him...
Gerard: The pike won't save him. It'll kill him. Mason Hewitt is gone.
Argent: But you still can't tell me where it is. How do we know it's not a steel cup gathering dust in someone's antique collection?
Gerard: Oh, I think it's closer to us than that. We'll find the pike, whatever shape its in.

Theo: Let him go.
The Surgeon: You have the entitlement and narcissism typical of your generation. In that, you are a profound success. But your failure taught us one thing-- the banality of evil. That you were and would always be an ordinary evil.
Theo: [offended] You think I'm ordinary?
The Surgeon: We believed that to resurrect the perfect killer, we had to start with the perfect evil. From you, we learned true evil only comes by corrupting something truly good.
Scott: [horrified] Not something.
Liam: [about Mason] Someone.

[Mason has just started to transform into the Beast]
Liam: Mason!
Mason: That's not... my name.

[Kira has just arrived at Shiprock, New Mexico and stands in the middle of the desert]
Kira: I know you can hear me. I need your help. Maybe I failed your test. Maybe I don't have control yet. But, I'll do whatever I have to. Whatever it takes. Please-- tell me how to save my friends.
[The three Skinwalkers appear out of the shadows and surround her]
Skinwalker 2: Kira!
[Skinwalker 2 looks at the rest of her sisters]
Skinwalker 2: We can help her!
Skinwalker 1: But it comes with a price.
Skinwalker 3: Everything has its price.

[The Beast has just transformed back into human form, only now it is Sebastien Valet instead of Mason. Gerard, Argent, Scott, and Liam watch in horror and confusion]
Gerard: La Bête du Gévaudan! I know your name. Do you remember mine?
Sebastien: [sneers] Argent.

Scott: Who the hell was that?
Gerard: You've seen the Beast of Gévaudan-- that was the Man.
Argent: Sebastien Valet.

Apotheosis [5.20]

[edit]
[Gerard and Argent have finally found Marie-Jeanne's pike, which is now in the form of The Surgeon's sword-cane]
Argent: [skeptically] You knew, didn't you?
Gerard: I wasn't certain, but I suspected. Although, it makes sense that Marie-Jeanne's pike would be reforged into something that could appear as innocuous as a cane.
Argent: But, will it kill him?
Gerard: You're damn right it will.

[Theo has been badly injured in his fight against the Dread Doctors, but when Tracy brings him back to the lair, he starts to make out with her. He only stops when he is overcome by pain, which worries Tracy]
Tracy: Maybe we should stop... Or figure out another plan. Just take a couple more days to think about it.
Theo: [appalled] Days? You want to wait days?
Tracy: You're hurt. You need time to heal. And I'm not like the others-- I can't take your pain.
Theo: I know. And that's okay, because you can do something else for me... You can give me your power.
[Theo kills Tracy and takes her powers. Deucalion walks in and sighs]
Deucalion: And then there were none.

[Scott and Liam have brought the injured Surgeon to the animal clinic for Deaton]
Scott: Can you keep him alive?
Deaton: I'm not sure he technically is alive.
Liam: [scoffs] Screw keeping him alive! How do we get him to talk?
Stiles: Personally, I don't think we utilize torture nearly enough...

[Sebastian has taken off The Surgeon's mask to reveal it's Marcel underneath, who is dying as he coughs up blood]
Sebastien: Marcel... If this is what immortality looks like, I think you might have been misled.
Marcel: For you. All for you.

Scott: Maybe there's something in here. Something about how he was a genetic chimera.
Deaton: Mason had a vanishing twin.
Stiles: Now we've got a vanishing Mason.
Liam: What does that have to do with him turning into a 250-year-old French guy? How does that even happen?

Deaton: Hold on-- Scott might have something. Mason's twin wasn't entirely gone. That's what made him a genetic chimera. The DNA was still there. Metaphorically speaking, the DNA of Mason could still be inside Sebastien as well.
Stiles: How?
Deaton: Life is energy. Energy doesn't just disappear. The Dread Doctors may have found a way to break the rules of the supernatural, but there are some rules that simply won't break.
Liam: So, Mason can't just be gone?
Deaton: Somewhere in Sebastien, he has to still exist in some form. A spark of energy, a flicker of memory...
Stiles: Hang on... Liam, you said Mason said something right before he turned.
Liam: He said, "That's not my name."
Scott: He finally remembered his name. Damnatio memoriae.
Deaton: That's what they wanted. They wanted Sebastien to remember his name. Scott, do you know the myth of what happens when you call a werewolf by its given name?
Scott: [shocked] It turns back to human...
Liam: What does that mean? Someone can just walk up to the Beast, yell Mason's name, and turn him back?
Stiles: Not someone... Lydia.

[Seastien has just showed up at the Sheriff's station, looking for Gerard and Argent]
Sebastien: You seem to know who I am. That means you know what I'm capable of.
[Sheriff puts his sidearm on the table]
Sheriff: I've got some experience.
Sebastien: Your weapons may be more sophisticated than the arrows and the bullets of my time, but they still won't kill me.
Sheriff: I'm pretty sure a 9mm Beretta will do more damage than an 18th century musket.
Sebastien: Are you certain? I can walk out of this place with my hands clean... Or, I can walk out with them drenched in blood. Your choice.

Desert Wolf: I'm not going to stop, Malia. I'm taking back what you stole from me.
Malia: I didn't steal anything.
Desert Wolf: But you did. And I don't care if you're a willing participant or not. Talia Hale spent nine months trying to convince me of the miracle of childbirth. You know what it really felt like? A parasite. Talia said it was a gift, that the coyote passes down part of her power to her daughter. She called it "beautiful." I call it "theft."

[Theo has just used his new electrokinetic powers to shock Deucalion]
Deucalion: You know, Theo, sometimes your willingness to stab anyone and everyone in the back will turn out to be your downfall.

Parrish: Lydia's been hurt. Badly.
Argent: It doesn't change anything.
Parrish: What if she's dying?
Argent: If we don't stop Sebastien, she will die. He's not just coming for the pike. He's coming for anything that stands in his way. Right now, that's all of us.
[Argent gets into a defensive position as the Beast approaches]
Parrish: What are you doing?
Argent: You saved my life once. Now, I'm going to save yours.

Parrish: I'm not sure I'm getting the strategy, here.
Argent: You're the strategy, Parrish. You're the one in the fresco. Put there as a reminder that the Beast isn't unstoppable. Whoever painted it... They didn't see a guy with a gun facing down the Beast. They saw you. They saw a Hellhound.

[Scott has just handed Stiles a wrapped up package containing Belasko's claws]
Stiles: What is this?
Scott: Something I've been working on for a while. Just make sure Malia gets it.
Stiles: Is it Plan B?
Scott: It was Plan A...
Stiles: Plan A never works.
Scott: [determinedly] This one will.

[Hayden has just stumbled into the animal clinic, where Deaton is surprised to see her. Her abdomen is bleeding from where Sebastien attacked her]
Hayden: They said that you can help us when we get hurt... Well, I think I'm pretty hurt...

[Theo has just incapacitated Scott and Liam with his new powers as the Beast approaches them]
Theo: You hear that? That's the sound of real power.
Sebastien: Another arrogant youth. A contender to steal my name? You think you can take it from me?
Theo: I just want your power.

[Sebastien has just easily defeated Theo after his electrokinesis and kanima venom failed to incapacitate him in Beast form. Afterward, Deucalion walks up to where Theo is collapsed, and when Scott comes up behind him, Theo realizes he's been played]
Theo: You lied to me. You and Scott...
Deucalion: That's right, Theo. The whole time.
Theo: It would've never worked...
Deucalion: [shrugs] It could have worked... with Belasko's talons.

[Gerard and Argent have just arrived and the former is holding Deucalion, Scott, and Liam at gunpoint]
Gerard: This is a surprising alliance, Scott. You and Deucalion? How long have you been planning this clever little double cross?
[Argent pulls his gun on Gerard after tossing Scott the pike]
Argent: About as long as he and I have been planning this one.
Gerard: What are you doing?
Argent: I knew when I brought you back, it would never be about saving lives-- only about immortalizing your own.

[The Desert Wolf has just stabbed Malia in the stomach with her claws]
Desert Wolf: I want my power back.
[Malia, with Belasko's talons on her claws, stabs the Desert Wolf in the stomach with them]
Malia: I want my family back.
[Malia absorbs the rest of her mother's powers, and her eyes glow bright blue. After Braeden knocks the Desert Wolf out, Stiles, who has been injured, calls out to them]
Stiles: Can someone please come and take this gigantic shard of glass out of my chest? Please?

Sebastien: That belongs to me. It's a family heirloom. I'd like it back, please.
Scott: It's all yours. Just give us Mason.
Sebastien: Unfortunately, I would not know where to begin. And, while I've benefited from his memories, I don't have much use for an alter-ego.
[Liam and Scott wolf-out and snarl at him]
Scott: You want it? Come and get it.

Sebastien: [to Scott] You're strong, there's no doubt in that. But neither of you fight with a killer instinct. Let me show you how to go for the throat.

[Sebastien has Scott in a choke-hold, and Liam has just picked up the pike to kill him]
Scott: Liam, wait! We can still save Mason.
Liam: Who's going to save you?
Sebastien: [confused] What kind of werewolves are you?

Kira: The Skinwalkers have a message for you, Theo. Your sister wants to see you.
[Kira stabs the ground with her katana, and Theo's sister crawls out of the earth before dragging Theo to hell]

Deaton: Hayden, I've managed to stabilize the injury. But, considering you're a Chimera, I don't know how, or if, you'll heal.
Scott: We can still take you to the hospital.
Hayden: I already died there once.
Scott: It's your choice.
Hayden: I know.
[Scott wolfs-out and gives Hayden the bite to save her life]

[Scott is dropping Kira off at Shiprock to stay with the Skinwalkers]
Scott: You don't have to do this.
Kira: I made a deal with them. And I need to. It's not for my parents. It's not for you. It's for me.
Scott: How long is it going to take?
Kira: [sighs] As long as it takes.
[Kira takes out her obsidian tail and gives it to Scott]
Kira: Keep it for me. Keep it safe.

Lydia: [about Kira] But she'll be back. She still has to graduate.
Stiles: That's the thing, though. I don't know... When we started this school year, I was so stressed about everyone ending up in the same place after we graduate. But I don't think it matters. We always seem to find each other anyway. Even Allison.
[Lydia stops walking and looks at him in confusion]
Stiles: He didn't tell you? It was in the tunnels, when Sebastien had his hands around Scott's throat. The guy probably didn't even know what he was doing. His claws got into Scott's neck. He was going to kill him... But then he stopped and said a name-- Marie-Jeanne.
Lydia: [gasps] He saw Scott's memories.
Stiles: He saw Allison.
Lydia: They must have looked like each other. I mean, maybe exactly like each other.
Stiles: It gave Scott a chance to break free. She saved him. Allison saved his life.
