Improving access date[edit]

At least for our purposes here in WQ, I think the "access date" in this template would be better presented more like {{Cite news}} (in smaller type, without linking the date). Not linking the date helps to keep "What links here" on the date pages useful, since the access date of a Web citation is not going to be relevant for QotD purposes. 121a0012 06:25, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'd go along with the smaller type, but I'd prefer to keep the date links. Their primary purpose is to provide preference-based date formatting. Yes, the dates show up in "What links here", but frankly, we don't exactly have many sources in articles at this point for them to be more than a minor inconvenience. I expect we'll have year articles to provide blue links long before we have more than a desultory collection of properly cited web pages, and we're not likely ever to feel the "What links here" problem as much as Wikipedia, which nevertheless uses the date links. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 07:24, 23 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
