This template is used to provide links to movie articles on the review website Rotten Tomatoes.com.
Instructions
[edit]To add a link for a movie article in the External links section (or equivalent), follow these steps:
- Go to RottenTomatoes.com and enter the full movie title in its Search field, then press Go.
- If the result is the movie you're interested in, proceed to Step 2.
- If the result is a list of movies with similar titles, click on the one you're interested in.
- If you do not get a result corresponding to your movie, there may not be a Rotten Tomatoes review for your movie.
- The movie's review page should have a URL (shown in your browser's Address bar) like this:
- http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/<ID>/
- where <ID> is Rotten Tomatoes' ID for this movie. For instance:
- http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/1021517-time_travelers/
- is the review page for The Time Travelers (1964). NOTE: Most movies' IDs will simply be their complete title in all-lowercase, without punctuation, and with underscores replacing spaces. For instance:
- http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/2001_a_space_odyssey/
- is the review page for 2001: A Space Odyssey.
- Add the following text to the "External links" section of your movie article:
- * {{rotten-tomatoes|id=<ID>|title=<TITLE>}}
- replacing <ID> with the ID you found, and <TITLE> with the title as you wish it to appear. (The title will automatically be italicized.) For example:
- * {{rotten-tomatoes|id=incredibles|title=The Incredibles}}
- will result in the following appearing in the "External links" section:
