Welcome[edit]

Hi Fys. Welcome to English Wikiquote.

Enjoy! ~ Jeff Q (talk) 03:50, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

stop erasing my vandalism. The user I am insulting is a loser 65.31.100.170 00:21, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

User:65.31.100.170 has now been blocked for two weeks for sending belligerent messages after having been previously warned. - InvisibleSun 00:49, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

Fys on Wikiquote[edit]

Your are now Fys on Wikiquote; I recreated your previous username and blocked it to prevent impersonations using your former name. You might wish to clean up your previous signatures on some pages. ~ Kalki 15:41, 6 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for helping, I'll fix the links. Fys. “Ta fys aym” 16:05, 6 October 2006 (UTC)

Diana Gould[edit]

I'm unconvinced that this is properly WQ material. I would also note that it needs to be categorized. 121a0012 04:13, 23 October 2006 (UTC)

You may well be right - I started transcribing it with the intention of getting the key quotes ("It was not sailing away .." etc) but ended up doing the whole thing. Perhaps it should be at Wikisource with the main quotes in Margaret Thatcher. Let me know what you think. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 20:10, 23 October 2006 (UTC)
Well, I'm not really sure what should be done, but this is now the second time I've tripped over it in Special:Uncategorizedpages, so please fix at least that! 121a0012 05:56, 5 November 2006 (UTC)
OK, I've fixed that. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 10:15, 5 November 2006 (UTC)

RFA[edit]

I just wanted to apologize for not having reviewed your RFA self-nomination yet. I've mainly been doing only essential, repetitive maintenance for the past few weeks, and so have been slow to respond to issues that require some thought, like a proper review for an admin candidate. But I will get to it, and I'm sure others will chime in soon as well. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 06:47, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations, you are now an administrator at Wikiquote. ~ Kalki 00:36, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
As Guns N' Roses once said, "Welcome to the jungle!" ~ Jeff Q (talk) 07:15, 31 October 2006 (UTC)
Thanks to you and everyone else who contributed to the RFA. I will bear in mind all the comments made and make sure only to use the new buttons to improve Wikiquote. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 09:24, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

PLease help this vandalized victim[edit]

Can you help me? I'll explain when you answer back. WWE 21:45, 31 October 2006 (UTC)

User:Adi's Breast‎[edit]

Thank you for blocking this user. You must have noticed the vandalisim. I didn't want to break the three-revert-rule, but I expect this is an exception? Thunderhead 22:25, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Alright, thank you. Again, for blocking this user, and for letting me know. Thunderhead 22:29, 2 November 2006 (UTC)

Margaret Thatcher[edit]

As a result of the recent picture replacement on the Margaret Thatcher page, the photo of Thatcher and Reagan now appears twice. Since you've been working a good deal on that page of late, perhaps you'd like to choose another image to put in its place? - InvisibleSun 00:29, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

I was trying to replace a deleted Wikimedia commons image and didn't spot that it was already in the article. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 00:36, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

User:Norman Levitt[edit]

Prowling around to check that all the {{vfd}} templates had been removed I came across this user and user talk page which you gave him a week to clean up as of the date his block ended (which was 15 October). Nothing seems to have happened - is it time for a deletion debate now? Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 10:20, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I've been cutting back on my activity because I don't feel I'm adequately dealing with the many challenges we've got, and am trying to focus on a smaller set while I recharge my batteries, so to speak. This situation is particularly difficult because user page deletions are unusual, even more so when they're not requested by the user but are being done because of policy violations.
When I first read your message, I thought to myself that I didn't want to tackle this one until I addressed another pending user-page issue — that of a user who wants to remove traces of his real identity, but couldn't get us to take action on meta:Right to vanish because no one participating was aware of this policy. (See WQ:AN#User-requested talk page deletions, redux and WQ:AN#Ask to block and desysop LrdChaos for details.) I've been wanting to fix this for 2 months now, but have been dragging my feet on anything more unusual than repetitive maintenance.
I guess what I'm saying is that it may take me a while to get to this, but if someone else wants to jump in, fine. (If no one else is on board with my interpretation of policy, that's fine, too.) ~ Jeff Q (talk) 09:31, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Thanks for editing the citizenship quotes. Have a nice week.--Sir James Paul 16:48, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

wikiquote:Esperanza[edit]

I invite you to become a part of wikiquote:Esperanza. If you join soon you will have a big part in building it. I hope you will become a member. Thanks.--Sir James Paul 19:36, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

As leader I will fix the loopholes found in Esperanza in the regular wikipedia. I will ask members what they think the weaknesses of Esperanza and will make sure we do not have the same problems. I am determined to make this work.--Sir James Paul 02:27, 20 November 2006 (UTC)

Can you make a new deletion review for Esperanza[edit]

I have changed wikiquote:Esperanza a lot since the deletion review began. I have been able to fix it. Also I was not able to try to convince people to vote to keep Esperanza until recently. Please leave me a message on my talk page.--Sir James Paul 16:44, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

The goal of wikiquote Esperanza is to make wikiquote more friendly, Keep major problems with vandalism from happening, and to work to make wikiquote grow. Can you please consider changing your vote. Another thing is that I am just the interm president, I am not a dictator.--Sir James Paul 17:09, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

I am sorry for editing your votes for deletiot. The reason why I did it is because I know james paul and this is really bothering him.--24.147.241.163 22:04, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

Is there a Deletion Review at wikiquote[edit]

Is there a way for me to try to get my article undeleted after it is. --Sir James Paul 22:24, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

There is no established procedure. If you have a good cause for resurrection of a deleted article, raise it either on Wikiquote:Votes for deletion or on Wikiquote:Administrators' noticeboard. However, nothing that you have created has been deleted so far, so I think you may be jumping ahead of yourself somewhat. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 22:32, 21 November 2006 (UTC)
Sir James Paul does raise a good point, however prematurely for his own interests. I had hoped to have a Wikiquote:Deletion review in place by now, but I've been exhausted from the activity of the past few months. I will try to get a draft version working shortly, if someone else doesn't beat me to it. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 00:36, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

Do you think I will be able to gain respect[edit]

Do you think I will be able to gain respect in the wikiquote community? If I become a respected editor do you think I will be able to make a wikiquote Esperanza? I would also like to say I am sorry for vandalizing. I was just desperate. Do you think that will hurt my chances of gaining respect? bye.--Sir James Paul 14:32, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

hey[edit]

i didnt do anything --T t T t YV B 22:24, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

  • You've vandalised several pages, not contributed anything positive, and now Kalki has blocked you for three days. I'd describe that as lenient in the circumstances. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 22:35, 26 November 2006 (UTC)

User: Marcher Lord[edit]

Aah. You are wise. Very good. Very good

I see you are very wise young one.

Deletion cleanup[edit]

First, I want to thank you for assuming a good bit of the load on VfD closures and logging. This is probably the most visible sysop activity here, and I for one really appreciate your stepping up to this plate. That said, I'm afraid I'm going to be a bit of a nudge. I noticed that, when closing the "Wikiquote:Esperanza" and "Wikiquote:Esperanza/Charter" VfDs, you didn't delete the talk page of the first and a redirect from "The Charter of Esperanza" to the second. Could you be sure to catch the talk pages and check "What links here" for stuff like this? It also comes up a lot with vanity articles; e.g., a person article may have links from List of people by name and/or various theme articles in which they added their quotes. This is easy to forget to do (as I can attest from much personal experience!). Thanks for your help on this. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 02:58, 28 November 2006 (UTC)

Thank you[edit]

Thanks for the help with Nacho Libre.

User:Lcarsdata[edit]

Just so you know, I've restored that page and reopened the VFD. Our current "[[WQ:SD#Owner request|Owner request" speedy-deletion case only covers the speedy deletion of user subpages, not the main user or user talk page. —LrdChaos (talk) 21:05, 5 December 2006 (UTC)

lack of some procedures[edit]

Hello, Fys, welcome to the project and sysop team. I am rather inactive here lately, but always it is my pleasure to see the project and community growing sanely.

You mentioned once that we have no desysopping procedure on WQ:RFA. I would like to hear your opinion. We are better to have it now? Personally I am sure we don't need it immediately, on the other hand I see several messes on a bigger project about that at the moment of tention they seem to need it at hand.

Thoughts?--Aphaia 07:09, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

Wikiquote Simple English[edit]

Why don't you join wikiquote esperanza? There is a lot of articles that need to be made there.--Sir James Paul 00:19, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I presume you mean Wikiquote Simple English rather than Esperanza. I did not know that there was a Wikiquote Simple English, and it seems a bit odd to have one. It is the subjects who make the quotes who decide whether they are in simple English or more complicated English. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 00:44, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

Ted Ginn, Jr. VfD[edit]

Thank you for your vote on the VfD. I am new to Wikiquote, with experience on Wikipedia, so I am trying to contribute in a helpful way. Rkevins82 17:29, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

WQ:GOOD[edit]

Thank you for your nomination of Tony Blair to WQ:GOOD. I am happy to find we have such a well-cited article. Your participation to the ongoing discussion of its talk will be also welcome :) --Aphaia 06:13, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Thanks[edit]

Your good wishes are appreciated.--Poetlister 22:50, 31 March 2007 (UTC)

Re Article for deletion[edit]

I have added some referenced material, I feel a bit cheeky doing it at the eleventh hour, I hope it is enough. Kind Regards --Domer48 11:51, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

Dennis Fakes[edit]

Thank you for closing that! It was a little late, but I couldn't close it due to the conflict of interest! Thanks again, and happy editing! Cbrown1023 talk 13:27, 22 April 2007 (UTC)

Thx![edit]

It is nice to have you around! --Aphaia 10:18, 15 May 2007 (UTC)

Vandal[edit]

Hi - heads up - check RC - there has been some nasty vandal attacks over the past 30 mins or so. Sorted by a steward but just so you know - cheers --Herby talk thyme 11:34, 25 May 2007 (UTC)

Moving pages[edit]

Why cant we as normal users move pages anymore? Who decided that only admins can? Uglyguy2006

Thank you so much for protecting it http://en.wikiquote.org/w/index.php?title=Wiki-star&action=edit Why haven't you answered my other question yet?
Please answer the question? Uglyguy2006 15:24, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
Newly-created accounts are not allowed to move pages as a guard against mass page-move vandalism. Once an account is established, it is able to move pages. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 16:04, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
What is with you people?! Wikiquote is not censored. Here is the policy, Wikiquote is not censored for lttle kids, deal with it, I do not mean that in a harsh way. Why must you keep removing my 6th grade quote if wikiquote is not censored? Uglyguy2006 16:05, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
I have explained on your user talk. Fys. “Ta fys aym”. 16:23, 2 July 2007 (UTC)

Tony Benn[edit]

I see you making a few edits to the article on Tony Benn, I've commented on the article talk as we've just interviewed him for Wikinews. I think the interview is a "gold mine" for quotes to add to his article here, have a listen and tell me what you think. Tony Benn interview. --Brian McNeil / talk 11:21, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank You[edit]

Thank you for your participation in my Rfa. --CZac 23:09, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

For your information[edit]

As a member of this community you may wish to take a look at the Requests for Checkuser rights for Cato here. My apologies if you would prefer not to have received this but there is a requirement for 25 affirmative votes for the rights to be granted. If you have any queries feel free to ask me.--Poetlister 13:07, 19 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikiquote interlanguage communication[edit]

Hi, I'm Nemo from the Italian language Wikiquote and I'm writing you (via a bot) because you're an administrator of Wikiquote in this language; please excuse me if you've received this message more than once.
The simple thing that I want you to know is that Wikiquote has an official mailing list, Wikiquote-l, which can be used to communicate and discuss matters which interest all Wikiquotes. This mailing list was last "advertised" about three or four years ago, before many of us joined Wikiquote, and is currently almost not participated at all by Wikiquote users and very low-traffic. I ask you to subscribe, to participate in discussions and to write about your Wikiquote.
I love Wikiquote, as you probably do, and I think that we should be proud of what we do here, share our experiences and good practices to make Wikiquote better and raise awareness of it.
I remind you that Meta-Wiki is the best place for Wikimedia projects coordination, and it contains several pages about Wikiquote, and specifically this talk page which can be used to discuss about Wikiquote if you don't like mailing lists.
I hope that this message has been useful for you. Cheers, Nemo (write me) 10:11, 14 December 2010 (UTC)
