Abū al-Faḍl ‘Abd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Bakr ibn Muḥammad Jalāl al-Dīn al-Khuḍayrī al-Suyūṭī, an Egyptian of Persian origin. As an historian, biographer, jurist, teacher, and scholar of Islamic theology, he was one of the most prolific writers of the Middle Ages.
