Now there are two sorts of Theologians in this category: Christian theologians and Jewish. Someday we will have Islamic theologians too ... and somehow other religions' ... they should be in one category or better to subcategorized? Categories with few items would be inconvinient so it might be a future problem, not the current one. Just thought. --Aphaia 6 July 2005 05:37 (UTC)

Let's subdivide when we no longer have room for all the theologists. I am unsure by religion is the best division, also [perhaps by period is better?] ~ MosheZadka (Talk) 6 July 2005 05:41 (UTC)
As for when we should begin, I agree with you. Yep, category by religion might be problematic ... but in most cases theologians were (and are) concious on which religion they are talking. So it would be less controversial than "religious leaders". --Aphaia 6 July 2005 05:53 (UTC)
I am unsure that the religious categorization would be trivial. Some of the extreme theologists, for example, were cast out by their religion. E.g., Gnostic theologists considered themselves Christians, but other Christians did not. Likewise, things like whether the LDS Church should be considered Christian, or even if Catholics are considered Christians, is debated by some. Jews might have problems with Chabad-oriented theologists, and I somehow doubt the Shi'ite Muslims and the Sunite Muslims would be more tolerant of each other. On the other hand, period-based categorization is simple and unambiguous -- there is wide agreement on when the Renneisance begun, when the Industrial revolution started, and so on. ~ MosheZadka (Talk) 6 July 2005 06:54 (UTC)
Ah okay, you are right. French Wikiquote has categories by centuries for people. Such division might be helpful for us too. --Aphaia 6 July 2005 07:02 (UTC)
