There are many passages about Heaven in the Quran. The Islamic term for Heaven is Jannah (Arabic: جَنّة).

This page quotes from the most prominent passages about Heaven in the Quran. The translation used is The Clear Quran by Dr. Mustafa Khattab, and the links go to Quran.com, which provides additional translations. For more information, refer to the Wikipedia article on Jannah.

Quotes[edit]

  • Give good news ˹O Prophet˺ to those who believe and do good that they will have Gardens under which rivers flow. Whenever provided with fruit, they will say, "This is what we were given before," for they will be served fruit that looks similar ˹but tastes different˺. They will have pure spouses, and they will be there forever.
  • As for those who believe and do good—We never require of any soul more than what it can afford—it is they who will be the residents of Paradise. They will be there forever. We will remove whatever bitterness they had in their hearts. Rivers will flow under their feet. And they will say, "Praise be to Allah for guiding us to this. We would have never been guided if Allah had not guided us. The messengers of our Lord had certainly come with the truth." It will be announced to them, "This is Paradise awarded to you for what you used to do."
  • The residents of Paradise will call out to the residents of the Fire, "We have certainly found our Lord's promise to be true. Have you too found your Lord's promise to be true?" They will reply, "Yes, we have!"
  • Indeed, the righteous will be amid Gardens and springs. ˹It will be said to them,˺ "Enter in peace and security." We will remove whatever bitterness they had in their hearts. In a friendly manner, they will be on thrones, facing one another. No fatigue will touch them there, nor will they ever be asked to leave.
  • ˹But˺ Allah will surely admit those who believe and do good into Gardens, under which rivers flow, where they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their clothing will be silk, for they have been guided to the best of speech, and they have been guided to the Commendable Path.
  • Indeed, on that Day the residents of Paradise will be busy enjoying themselves. They and their spouses will be in ˹cool˺ shade, reclining on ˹canopied˺ couches. There they will have fruits and whatever they desire. And "Peace!" will be ˹their˺ greeting from the Merciful Lord.
  • They will have a known provision: fruits ˹of every type˺. And they will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss, facing each other on thrones. A drink ˹of pure wine˺ will be passed around to them from a flowing stream: crystal-white, delicious to drink. It will neither harm ˹them˺, nor will they be intoxicated by it. And with them will be maidens of modest gaze and gorgeous eyes, as if they were pristine pearls.
  • And the righteous will certainly have an honourable destination: the Gardens of Eternity, whose gates will be open for them. There they will recline, calling for abundant fruit and drink. And with them will be maidens of modest gaze and equal age. This is what you are promised for the Day of Reckoning. This is indeed Our provision that will never end.
  • Indeed, the righteous will be in a secure place, amid Gardens and springs, dressed in fine silk and rich brocade, facing one another. So it will be. And We will pair them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. There they will call for every fruit in serenity. There they will never taste death, beyond the first death.
  • Indeed, the righteous will be in Gardens and bliss, enjoying whatever their Lord will have granted them. And their Lord will have protected them from the torment of the Hellfire. ˹They will be told,˺ "Eat and drink happily for what you used to do." They will be reclining on thrones, ˹neatly˺ lined up ˹facing each other˺. And We will pair them to maidens with gorgeous eyes.

  • And whoever is in awe of standing before their Lord will have two Gardens. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? ˹Both will be˺ with lush branches. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? In each ˹Garden˺ will be two flowing springs. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? In each will be two types of every fruit. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? Those ˹believers˺ will recline on furnishings lined with rich brocade. And the fruit of both Gardens will hang within reach. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? In both ˹Gardens˺ will be maidens of modest gaze, who no human or jinn has ever touched before. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? Those ˹maidens˺ will be ˹as elegant˺ as rubies and coral. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? Is there any reward for goodness except goodness? Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny?
  • And below these two ˹Gardens˺ will be two others. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? Both will be dark green. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? In each will be two gushing springs. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? In both will be fruit, palm trees, and pomegranates. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? In all Gardens will be noble, pleasant mates. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? ˹They will be˺ maidens with gorgeous eyes, reserved in pavilions. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? No human or jinn has ever touched these ˹maidens˺ before. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? All ˹believers˺ will be reclining on green cushions and splendid carpets. Then which of your Lord's favours will you both deny? Blessed is the Name of your Lord, full of Majesty and Honour.
  • The foremost ˹in faith˺ will be the foremost ˹in Paradise˺. They are the ones nearest ˹to Allah˺, in the Gardens of Bliss. ˹They will be˺ a multitude from earlier generations and a few from later generations. ˹All will be˺ on jewelled thrones, reclining face to face. They will be waited on by eternal youths with cups, pitchers, and a drink ˹of pure wine˺ from a flowing stream, that will cause them neither headache nor intoxication. ˹They will also be served˺ any fruit they choose and meat from any bird they desire. And ˹they will have˺ maidens with gorgeous eyes, like pristine pearls, ˹all˺ as a reward for what they used to do.
  • There they will never hear any idle or sinful talk—only good and virtuous speech. And the people of the right—how ˹blessed˺ will they be! ˹They will be˺ amid thornless lote trees, clusters of bananas, extended shade, flowing water, abundant fruit—never out of season nor forbidden—and elevated furnishings. Indeed, We will have perfectly created their mates, making them virgins, loving and of equal age, for the people of the right, ˹who will be˺ a multitude from earlier generations and a multitude from later generations.
  • Indeed, the righteous will have salvation—gardens, vineyards, and full-bosomed maidens of equal age, and full cups ˹of pure wine˺, never to hear any idle talk or lying therein—a ˹fitting˺ reward as a generous gift from your Lord, the Lord of the heavens and the earth and everything in between, the Most Compassionate.
