Dialogue
[edit]- Fred: [to Scrooge] It's the only time I know of in the long calendar of the year when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut hearts freely. And therefore, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good; and I say, God bless it!
- Bob: Hear, hear! Hear, hear!
- Scrooge: Mr. Cratchit! Let me hear another word from you, and you will keep Christmas by losing your situation!
- [At the huge Christmas Eve dinner being held for polite society]
- Lord Mayor's Secretary: [to the Lord Mayor] My Lord, shall we proceed with your speech, or shall we let the ladies and gentlemen continue to enjoy themselves?
- Lord Mayor: Call for silence.
- [Scrooge laugh while watching the Cratchits finished eating their goose for Christmas dinner]
- Spirit of Christmas Present: You laugh?
- Ebenezer Scrooge: Laugh? I envy them.
