Note

[edit]

New page, created. :) Text from lede taken from beginning part of intro at en.wikipedia page, w:American Dialect Society. Started with 20 sourced quotes: 10 sourced quotes in the Quotes sect, and 10 sourced quotes in the About sect. Cheers, -- Cirt (talk) 05:56, 4 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Quoted text in lede needs to have a ref

[edit]

Quoted text in lede needs to have a ref. We can't just remove the cite, and then remove the quote marks around the quoted text, that would be copyvio or plagiarism. As such, I've added the quote marks back, and added a direct cite to the organization's website. -- Cirt (talk) 04:31, 5 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Attempt at compromise

[edit]

Good faith attempt at compromise, add back further reading sect, but I reduced size of sect by half. -- Cirt (talk) 18:04, 10 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Removed "Further reading" sect

[edit]

I've gone ahead and voluntarily removed the "Further reading" sect, myself, from the page, per community consensus as expressed at Wikiquote:Village Pump. Cheers, -- Cirt (talk) 23:54, 14 October 2013 (UTC)Reply

Removed Cleveland Evans quote

[edit]

Evans is not and has never been the president of the American Dialect Society. He has, however, been the president of the American Name Society.
