I think it's more appropriate (and more accurate) to put the opening quotes under their respective episode headings, as they often relate to the content. I'm sure we can still have a sub-page where they are all collected in the same spot, but until that's formalized I'm going to divide them up and organize them. Please note any objections. --Slac 02:00, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Opening Quote Formatting

[edit]

I originally set out to format the opening quotes as closely as possible to their presentation on screen, since even the different capitalizations, line-breaks, etc. added to their flavor. But after reading the Wikiquote Manual of Style, I saw my first attempts at formatting were egregious. For example:

T HE RABID DOGS OF GALLAPHRON
CAN BE TRAINED TO DROOL
AT THE RING OF A BELL .
D OESN'T STOP THEM FROM BITING .

KARLOS EL GREETA-STIRRA,
"REFLECTIONS OF RIM-SALT", CY 4389

I've removed this type of complex formatting from the article, but kept a sample here in case anyone would like to discuss it further. Perhaps in the future we might find a better alternative to achieve similar ambitions. What do you think of doing, say, a screenshot for each selection? I understand that they would have be legal. --Slac 00:14, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Introductory phrases

[edit]

Is it a bit too encyclopedic? Just impression. (No aggressive intent). --Aphaia 16:57, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

I tried to make everything in the introduction pertinent to the quotes themselves and how they are used in the show. Do you think it's unnecessary or doesn't add very much to your understanding or appreciation of the quotations that follow? So far, many of the quotes were copied and pasted from other sites, and are not necessarily ones I would choose. But look at sections like this one and this one, which I have written, and tell me if the introduction helps you. Oh, and no need to worry about aggressive intent - I realize no one owns Wiki pages. ありがとう --Slac 23:43, 14 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Poetry

[edit]

Despite any rules the style manual presses on us, we cannot allow poetry to be manupulated in terms of line breakage. It's simply unnacceptable as at least in English, the lines a poem forms on the page are distinct and deliberate on the part of the author and simply dictate the tone of the work. To that end I have reviewed my coy of Andromeda's first season and formatted the text accordingly with line break language. I apologize if the action seems 'rash,' but it was necessary.
