Talk:Keshia Chante

Lets discuss this issue, as in other celebrity wikiquote pages, like Beyonce Knowles, Sean Combs, Marilyn Monroe, they all have an unsourced section. The quotations from Chante have been made on her twitter page and musician facebook page. Although wikipedia doesn't value those website as appriorpriate reference points, it still doesn't take away from the fact that they are in fact Chante's official pages and have been said by her. The same way Beyonce, Sean or Marilyn have made statements that may have not been said via print media, but maybe in an interview found through youtube, or from their websites etc,. Tyty06

Take a look at WQ:LOQ where it explains why unsourced quotes will be moved to the Talk page. This should be done for the other pages you cite, such as Marilyn Monroe, as well. The quotes you reference are not truly sourced. ~ UDScott 19:51, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And in fact, I have now moved Marilyn's unsourced quotes to her talk page, and nominated the pages for Beyonce Knowles and Sean Combs for proposed deletion because there are no sourced quotes by them. ~ UDScott 19:57, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just read this now. Okay understood. My concern is the reference. These are in fact quotes by Keshia. They come from her official record label pages. She puts out quotes to her fanbase to inspire them, I feel that those quotes are awesome, and would like for them to be extended to her wikiquote page. I started her wikiquote page for that reason. What can I do? Tyty06

What needs to happen is to find valid sources for them - then they can be included on her page. ~ UDScott 20:14, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
That's actually the reason why we move such unsourced quotes here, instead of just removing them. This gives people an opportunity to try to find sources for quotes, rather than just having them disappear. ~ UDScott 20:15, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Her official website is not a valid source? Tyty06

Take a look here for more information on sourcing: Wikiquote:Sourcing. What is needed is a clear way for people to verify the quote - think of this way: if a quote from Moby-Dick was just listed as coming from that book, but not where in the book (e.g. chapter), it would be difficult to verify. Similarly, if one is just directed to a website, it is difficult to validate a quote. Look at some other current figures (like Barack Obama) to see examples of how quotes from websites are sourced. ~ UDScott 20:20, 30 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Wow. Thank you! Your are very helpful. I will do that right now and try my best to keep her page up to wikipedia standards. Ill search for proper sources for everything, my only concern is alot of people really love her inspiration quotes and I felt it would be a positive thing to add to her wikiquote page. I just am not sure how to make that happen and still follow policy. If you think of any ways, please let me know. thank you for your time Tyty06
