Sub-themes and questions[edit]

This quote may be of relevance to the page on necessity: "Necessity is the final editor." (But I cannot for the life of me discover who said it first.)

  • I can't find it at all. A Google search and a Google Books search both turn up nil for me. BD2412 T 17:49, 3 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • A couple of incidents of "necessity is the final arbiter" appear in some statements, though not in any widely used quotation that I can find, but perhaps a similar remark prompted an incident where "editor" was somehow substituted. ~ Kalki·· 05:02, 4 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
    • Further exploration reveals that though there are some slight variants implying or stating "Necessity" to be the final or supreme arbiter amidst various disputes or contentions, there seem to be far more where some other agency (God, the Supreme Court, et.al.) is specified as the final or supreme arbiter of necessity, or aspects of it. ~ Kalki·· 05:55, 4 October 2013 (UTC) + tweaks[reply]
