Talk:The Matrix Revolutions
Add topicThis article falls within a proposed limits on quotations policy.
The subject of this article is a film, and as a result, the proposal would set a limitation of five quotes per hour (about one quote every 12 minutes). If you would like to add another quote to the page, you should consider whether to remove one that is already there in order to keep within the bounds of fair use of copyright material. |
Times
[edit]These quotes need times, they are haphazardly arranged, I can hardly tell which quote is from where... 67.167.255.36 23:40, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
Misquoted
[edit]The quote "Cookies need love like everything does" is from the Oracle not Smith. In the movie Smith quoted the Oracle to lett her show he had absorbed a friend of hers.81.204.132.35 02:27, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Cleanup
[edit]I am in the process of cleaning up this article (01 Aug 09). According to Wikipedia, this movie is approximately 130 minutes (just over 2 hours). As per WQ:Limits, that allows this article approximately 10 quotes. I will be as charitable as possible in trying to choose appropriate quotes based on the limits and all the Wikipolicies I have read. I'm also bolding significant quotes: quotes that were either especially significant to the movie, somewhat notable in the real world due to the movie, or are particularly quotable on their own.
- As of now there are 11 remaining quote "units" (i.e., quotes plus chunks of dialogue), not including taglines, as they don't fall under the same provisions for copyright. I estimated that 10 was fair for this article. Anyone, however, who wants to add a quote: be careful when adding quotes, and consider their importance to the film, their quotability outside the film, and their context (eg., does another one of the quotes basically say the same thing). Also, if you add quotes, you must strongly consider appropriately removing another quote. Be especially careful with the dialogue section; I have only included sections of dialogue where the interplay of conversation is concise, meaningful, understandable and relevant--especially not dialogue wherein one of the lines should be a lone quote. Too often on Wikiquote there is dialogue of a mundane conversation (full of speech fillers, like uh-huh, yeah, ummm, etc.) with one line which is quotable. I removed all dialogue which was redundant (i.e., having one quotable line within the dialogue was already quoted in this article). Peace and Passion ("I'm listening....") 03:49, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- PS For those interested, the most applicable guidelines are Wikiquote:Limits on quotations and Wikiquote:Quotability
Images
[edit]Nearly all the images on this page are not related to the movie. The "city" image is just a photo of New York. The "Everything that has a beginning has an end" image is just an unrelated ornament. The Merovingian image is a CPU. The "Trinity" image depicts a different thing that just happens to be called "Trinity". The "It ends tonight" image is just a fuzzy image of a night sky.
These images are not even very good as illustrations.
I removed the images and explained it in the edit summary. I'm much more experienced on Wikipedia and Wikisource than on Wikiquote, but Wikiquote's Image use policy says: "An image that is not a literal representation of the subject of the page may be removed by any editor who believes it to be inappropriate. Thereafter, it should not be re-added without first obtaining consensus on the article talk page."
And yet, @UDScott reverted my removal of these images without an explanation.
The only image that is actually related to the movie is the mannequins. It doesn't look that good (I also suspect that it's a copyright violation, despite a valid license tag). But fine, it's at least related to the movie (though not to the quote), so maybe it can stay. I'd still remove it.
But all the other images should definitely go. Or am I missing anything? Amir E. Aharoni (talk) 14:38, 10 January 2024 (UTC)
