  • You can't win, Scar!
  • [Rafiki: Who are you?] I'm nobody.
  • My father once told me, "Protect everything the light touches." If I don't fight for it, who will?
  • Run. Run away, Scar. Run away, and never return.
  • I'm Simba, son of Mufasa.
  • Danger? Ha! I laugh in the face of danger. [laughs in determination]

  • Simba, you have to take your place as king. We need you. Come home.
  • Scar has taken over the Pride Lands, this isn't the home I remember.
  • Seeing you again, you don't know what this'll mean to everyone... what this means to me. You have to come home.
  • Pinned ya! You owe me an apology!
  • Well, we don't. Your reign is over, Scar. Simba is the rightful king. If you want to get him, you have to get through us. Are you with me, lions?
  • Simba? Is that really you?

  • Everything the light touches is our kingdom. But a king's time as ruler rises and falls like the sun. One day, Simba, the sun will set on my time here and will rise with you as the new king.
  • Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance.
  • While others search for what they can take, a true king searches for what he can give.
  • Simba, you must take your place in the Circle of Life.
  • [to Simba] Remember who you are.
  • [to Simba, after saving him from the hyenas] You deliberately disobeyed me. You could have been killed. And what's worse, you put Nala in danger!
  • Simba, let me tell you something my father told me... look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars. [Simba: Really?] Yes... so whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be up there to guide you... and so will I.
  • I'm coming, Simba! Hold on! [leaps into the gorge for his attempt in rescuing his son from the wildebeest stampede]
  • [after saving Simba and Nala from Shenzi's clan] If you ever come near my son again...
  • Simba! Jump to me, son! JUMP!
  • [last words before Scar digs his claws into his paws and slaps him off the cliff into the stampede below] Scar! Help me!
  • [to Simba, as a sprit] As king, I am most proud of one thing: having you as my son.

  • [first lines] Life's not fair, is it, my little friend? While some are born to feast, others spend their lives in the dark, begging for scraps. The way I see it, you and I are exactly the same... we both want to find a way out.
  • I was first in line, until the prince arrived.
  • [Simba: I'm gonna be the king of Pride Rock.] Is that so?
  • [digs his claws into Mufasa's paws] Long live... the king! [slaps Mufasa off the cliff]
  • Run. Run away, Simba. Run away, and never return!
  • This is my kingdom! My destiny!
  • Of course you didn't. No one ever means for these things to happen... but the king is dead. And if it weren't for you, he'd still be alive.
  • [arrives "out of breath"] Mufasa. Quick. Stampede. In the gorge. Simba's down there!
  • Now you run along. And remember... it's our little secret, your majesty.
  • [to the hyenas] The way I see it, why eat one meal... when you can be feasting the rest of your lives? Are you hungry?
  • I'll help him, Zazu, you get the pride. Go!
  • Kill him.
  • Mufasa's death is a terrible tragedy, the greatest leader the pride has ever known, to lose a brother such... a... deep... personal... loss. And little Simba who had barely begun to live, a cub whose blood held our future, it's almost too much to endure. I only wish I had gotten to the gorge in time been there to save them. And so it is with a heavy heart... that I must... assume the throne. Mufasa and Simba are gone. Which means I... am your king. But I must admit, I cannot bear this burden alone and I will need some help to ensure... the safety of the pride. [the hyenas congregate the Pride Lands] And so, from the ashes of this tragedy, we shall welcome the dawning of a new era! A great and glorious future!

  • We're here! The backup has arrived!
  • Slimy, yet satisfying!
  • We kneel before you as loyal servants.
  • You thought he was dead? I thought I was dead! I thought you were gonna eat me.
  • [the hyenas are body shaming Pumbaa, causing him to react] I may run from hyenas, but I'll always fight a bully!
  • [regarding Simba's home] Is it behind that terrifying rock?
  • We are at your service, my liege.
  • Hakuna Matata! It means no worries!

  • Oh, everyone, calm down. We're here.
  • They're fireflies. Fireflies that got stuck up on that big bluish-black thing.
  • [Simba is singing "Hakuna Matata"] Oh, now he's riffing, Pumbaa! This is a nightmare!
  • Let me make this simple: life is meaningless.
  • Pumbaa, I don't think you're getting eaten.
  • That never gets old!
  • [assessing the barren, skeleton-ridden Pride Rock] Talk about a fixer-upper. I like what you've done with it, although a bit heavy on the carcass.
  • [to Nala] Lady, you've got your lions crossed.
  • Repeat after me, kid. Hakuna Matata.
  • When the world turns its back on you, you turn your back on the world.

  • Everybody is somebody. Even a nobody.
  • Look closer. [he touches the water; as it ripples, Simba's reflection changes to that of Mufasa] You see? He lives in you.
  • And so, I ask again... who are you?
  • Simba is alive! [paints a mane on the smeared lion image, chuckling with delight]

  • Oh, how lovely it is to see the future king with his future queen. I could just molt. [Simba: What do you mean, future queen?] One day, the two of you will be betrothed. Intended. Affianced. [Nala: Simba, you speak bird?] Married. Come on. One day, you will be married... to each other!
  • Simba, you can't escape your destiny.
  • Simba, we are with you until the end.
  • For king and country! Tally-ho!
  • [distracting Scar] Uh, Scar! Uh, wonderful to see you. Uh, sorry to drop in like this! [Scar lunges at him] Ah! Have I ever told you about my brother who thought he was a woodpecker? [Scar and the hyenas chase him away, allowing Nala to escape]

  • Mufasa's far too powerful to challenge.
  • There's only one true thing you ever said, Scar: a hyena's belly is never full!

  • Yeah, stay for dinner. 'Cause you look like a midnight snack!
  • It's perfect, 'cause I'm starving.
  • Works for me.
  • [Zazu pecks Azizi on the head] Gaahh! It's the bird! I got 'im, I got 'im!! He's got me! He's got me!! Get that bird!!
  • Yeah, and you wanted to kill us.

  • Well, look at this. We weren't expecting guests today. Would you two cubs like to stay for dinner?

  • Scar? You told us you didn't get to the gorge in time. [Scar: That's true.] Then how did you see the look in Mufasa's eyes?!
  • And it's time for yours. [gives her struggling cub a bath]
  • [with much disbelief] It's not true. Tell me it's not true!
  • And one more little thing. Zazu will be going with you. [Young Simba and Nala: Zazu?!] Zazu goes, or you don't.

  • [to Simba] Simba, she's having her bath.
  • Nala, stay close.

[First lines]
Scar: [to the mouse] Life's not fair, is it, my little friend? While some are born to feast, others spend their lives in the dark... begging for scraps. The way I see it, you and I are exactly the same. We both want to find a way out.
Zazu: The king approaches! This is not a drill! His Majesty has requested an audience. Upon his entrance you will rise.
Scar: Zazu, you made me lose my lunch.
Zazu: You will answer to Mufasa for missing the ceremony this morning.
Zazu: Scar, Scar? Scar, Scar, Scar, Scar, Scar, no, no. Don't look at me like that.
Scar: Are you hungry, Zazu? Perhaps we could have a bite together. [lunges at Zazu]
Zazu: You can't eat me, it is forbidden to eat a member of the king's court! Please, stop it--!
[Mufasa arrives with impeccable timing]
Mufasa: SCAR?!
Scar: Well, look who's come to mingle with the commoners.
Mufasa: Sarabi and I didn't see you at the presentation of Simba.
Scar: Was that today? Must've slipped my mind... Of course, I meant no disrespect towards his Majesty or Sarabi. As you know, I have tremendous respect for the queen.
Zazu: As the King's brother, you should be first in line.
Scar: I was first in line... that is until the precious prince arrived.
Mufasa: Don't turn your back on me, Scar.
Scar: Oh, no, Mufasa. Perhaps you shouldn't turn your back on me.
[Mufasa roars and leaps in front of Scar]
Mufasa: Is that a challenge!?
Scar: I wouldn't dream of challenging you again.
Zazu: A wise decision. You are no match for his Royal's most--
Scar: Well, as far as brains go, I have the lion's share. But when it comes to brute strength, I'm afraid my big brother will always rule.
Mufasa: Not always, Scar. One day, it will be my son who rules. Simba will be your king.
Scar: Then long live the king. [leaves]
Mufasa: What am I going to do with him?
Zazu: Come on, we both know he should've been expelled from the Pride Lands long ago.
Mufasa: He is my brother, Zazu. This is his home too, and as long as I am king, that'll never change.
Zazu: Well, there is one in every family, sire. I had a cousin who thought he was a woodpecker. He slammed his head into trees and beaks aren't built for it, he was concussed regularly, and, oh, you've gone. Sure. Coming back.

Young Simba: Dad! Dad, dad, dad, dad, dad, dad!
Sarabi: [sleepily] Your son is awake.
Mufasa: Before sunrise, he's your son.

Mufasa: Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures; from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope.
Young Simba: But, Dad, don't we eat the antelope?
Mufasa: Yes, Simba, but let me explain. When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so, we are all connected in the great Circle of Life.
Zazu: [lights on a nearby rock] Sire!
Mufasa: Morning, Zazu. Do you have the morning report?
Zazu: Yes, sire! Ten flamingos are taking a stand, two giraffe were caught necking, the buzz from the bees is that the leopards are in a bit of a spot...
Mufasa: [to Simba] Ready for some fun?
Zazu: The birds are tweeting at 4:00 in the morning. I'm like, "Birds, we get it."
Mufasa: [whispering] Stay low to the ground.
Young Simba: [whispering] I got this.
Mufasa: [still whispering] Check the wind, the shadows and wait for the perfect moment to pounce.
Zazu: [continuing immediately] The cheetahs stole the baboons' dinner, and now the baboons are going ape. Of course, as I say, cheetahs never prosper. That's what I say. Do you get... I'll say it again. Cheetahs never-- [Simba pounces Zazu mid-sentence, and Mufasa starts to laugh] Awwwwwk! Come on! It's the news!!
Mufasa: [to Simba] That's very good. HA! HA! HA!
Zazu: [with urgency] Sire! Sire! HYENAS!! In the Pride Lands! They're on the hunt!
Mufasa: [serious now] Where's Sarabi?
Zazu: She's leading the charge!
Mufasa: Zazu, take Simba home.
Young Simba: Dad, let me come! I can help--!
Mufasa: [curtly] No, son. You stay with the other cubs. [heads off at a full gallop]

Scar: If you wish to kill something, you might want to stay downwind.
Young Simba: I know how to hunt, Uncle Scar.
Scar: Then let's hope we're never attacked by a beetle. Go back to your den, Simba. I don't babysit.
Young Simba: Babysit? I'm gonna king of Pride Rock. My dad showed me the whole kingdom. Said I'm going to rule it all.
Scar: Is that so?
Young Simba: Think about it. When I'm king, I'll have to give you orders. Tell you what to do. How weird is that?
Scar: You have no idea.

Zazu: Come along! Keep up! Let's move as a unit! Okay, buddy system...
Young Nala: [to Simba] So, where are we really going?
Young Simba: How'd you know?
Young Nala: You hate the water.
Young Simba: I've heard about this place, Nala, the most incredible, amazing--
Young Nala: Just tell me where.
Young Simba: An elephant graveyard.
Young Nala: Whoaaa. How far is it?
Young Simba: Not far. Just through the shadows. But don't worry, everyone's been there.
Young Nala: We've never been that far before. What if we get lost?
Young Simba: Relax, Nala. I was shown the entire kingdom this morning with my Dad. There's nothing to worry about.
Young Nala: Well, there is one thing...
Zazu: [flying overhead] We have an eminent threat! Something is approaching-- oh, wait, scratch that. That's my own shadow.
Young Nala: How we getting rid of the dodo?
Young Simba: Trust me. I got this. Follow me to freedom!
Zazu: Oh, how lovely it is to see the future king with his future queen! [perches down] I could just molt...
Young Simba: What do you mean, "future queen"?
Zazu: Well, one day, the two of you will be betrothed. Intended. Affianced.
Young Nala: Simba, you speak bird?
Zazu: Married. Come on. One day, you will be married... to each other.
Young Simba: Ugh!
Young Nala: Ewwww!
Young Simba: That's not gonna happen, Zazu.
Young Nala: Never ever.
Young Simba: Nala and I are friends. And besides, she's afraid of rhinos.
Young Nala: And he's never eaten an impala.
Young Simba: I've tried it once.
Young Nala: We're never getting married, Zazu.
Zazu: A monarch who ignores tradition? With an attitude like that, I'm afraid you'll be a pretty pathetic king.
Young Simba: Well, I'm not letting anyone tell me where to go, what to do, and even who to marry. There will never be a king like me.
Zazu: Simba, you can't escape your destiny.

Kamari: [to Simba and Nala] Well, look at this. We weren't expecting guests... today. Would you two cubs like to stay for dinner?
Azizi: [butting in] Yeah, stay for dinner. 'Cause you look like a midnight snack!
Kamari: [annoyed] Can you just give me a little bit of space?
Azizi: I'm helping.
Kamari: We've talked about this before. I come in alone, I'm the lead distraction so everyone can circle.
Azizi: Okay, okay. Sorry.
Kamari: Don't be sorry. Just do it.
Shenzi: Now this is a meal I've been waited my whole life for. What an unexpected treat to meet the son of a king.
Kamari: Wait a second, the king? As in you know who?
Azizi: Who rules you know where?
Shenzi: Mufasa does not rule me.
Young Simba: You can't do anything to me, because I'm the future king.
Shenzi: [chuckles] He's telling me what to do. His father's strength flickering inside. I wonder how all that bravery will taste.
Zazu: [flaps up in front of them] Let them go, Shenzi, they made a mistake! A horrible mistake! But if you do this, you will start a war with Mufasa!
Shenzi: Hyenas and lions have been at war since the beginning of time. But Mufasa's bloodline.... WILL END HERE!! [lunges at Simba and Nala, but they escape]
Zazu: Run!
Shenzi: Don't let them get away!

Kamari: [Simba lets out a small roar, causing Azizi to burst out laughing] Did you hear that? The future king.
Azizi: Do it again.
[Simba roars, but it's actually Mufasa. He charges the hyenas, saving the cubs, and knocks them about until they are cringing at him]
Mufasa: [threateningly] If you ever come near my son again...
Shenzi: [nods her head, weakly] No, Mufasa. Never. Never again.
Mufasa: You've been warned, Shenzi.

Mufasa: Zazu, take Nala back to Pride Rock.
Zazu: Yes, sire. Don't be too hard on him, sire. I remember a cub, a certain headstrong cub who was always getting into scrapes, and he achieved some prominence, did he not, sire?
Mufasa: I have to teach my son a lesson.
Zazu: Nala, come along.

Mufasa: You deliberately disobeyed me.
Young Simba: I know.
Mufasa: You could have been killed. And what's worse, you put Nala in danger. Do you understand what's at stake? You jeopardized the future of our pride.
Young Simba: [bordering on crying] I just wanted to show you I could do it. That I could be brave like you.
Mufasa: I'm only brave when I have to be, when there's no other choice.
Young Simba: But you're not scared of anything.
Mufasa: I was today.
Young Simba: [disbelieving] You were?
Mufasa: Yes... I thought I might lose you.
Young Simba: [lightening slightly] I guess even kings get scared, huh?
Mufasa: More than you could ever know.
Young Simba: But guess what?
Mufasa: What?
Young Simba: I think those hyenas were even scareder.
Mufasa: 'Cause nobody messes with your dad. Come here.
[They nuzzle their heads. Simba and Mufasa tussle playfully for a brief while. They end up with Mufasa and Simba laid down]
Young Simba: Dad?
Mufasa: Uh-huh?
Young Simba: We're pals, right?
Mufasa: [gentle laugh] Right.
Young Simba: And we'll always be together, right?
Mufasa: Simba, let me tell you something my father told me... look at the stars. The great kings of the past look down on us from those stars.
Young Simba: [awed] Really?
Mufasa: Yes... so whenever you feel alone, just remember that those kings will always be up there to guide you... and so will I.
Young Simba: But I can't see them, Dad.
Mufasa: Keep looking, son. Keep looking.

Azizi: Mufasa is strong, like way stronger than us.
Kamari: [Azizi sits too close to him] Please give me some space.
Azizi: What?
Kamari: You can lay anywhere in this cave.
Azizi: What do you want me to--
Kamari: [pushes him] I need some personal space.
Azizi: OK, OK. But you were great, but he is... ooof.
Kamari: [irritated] See, now I know you're doing this on purpose.
Azizi: And brave too, tough, good energy.
Kamari: Now you're just being spiteful.
Azizi: Good posture.
Kamari: [finally fed up] The next time I see Mufasa, I'm gonna teach him a lesson he will never forget.
Azizi: [notices Scar behind him, mistaking him for Mufasa] Well, you're in luck, he's right behind you.
Kamari: [turns around] Mufasa?
Shenzi: That's not the king.

Scar: You fools have stripped your land of every living thing, and yet I send two little cubs your way. Why eat one meal when you can be feasting the rest of your lives? A place where you can fill your bellies.
Shenzi: What could you possibly offer us?
Scar: Where everything the light touches is yours.

Young Simba: My dad was pretty upset with me.
Scar: That's why we're here, Simba. I think I know a way for you to make it up to him. A gift that will make him forget it ever happened.
Young Simba: But he's the king, what could I give him?
Scar: Your roar.
Young Simba: My roar?
Scar: Yes! [his voice echoes] Did you hear that? This gorge is where all lions come to find their roar.
Young Simba: All lions, even my dad?
Scar: Even Mufasa came here when he was your age, refused to leave until his roar could be heard above the rim.
Young Simba: All the way up there?
Scar: That's when you know you've found it. With a little practice, you'll never be called a cub again.
Young Simba: Watch this. [does a small roar]
Scar: You'll get it, Simba, just takes time. I'll check on you later.
Young Simba: Dad will be so proud, won't he?
Scar: It's a gift he'll never forget. [walks away]

[Mufasa can't climb on the gorge's ledge due to the steepness as he sees Scar above him]
Mufasa: Scar! Help me!
Scar: [digs his claws into Mufasa's paws, giving him to roar out in pain] Long... live... the KING!!
[Scar slaps Mufasa in the face and he free-falls, back first into the wildebeest stampede below]
Young Simba: [cries out] NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Shenzi: [Simba has fallen over a high cliff] Go down, and make sure he's dead. [leaves]
Kamari: [Azizi gets to close to him; annoyed] Seriously?
Azizi: Oh, I'm sorry. [backs up a bit]
Kamari: That's a good distance right there.
Azizi: Okay.
Kamari: [they both look down the cliff] No little cub could survive that fall. Listen, we're gonna tell her we went down there, and we ate him.
Azizi: [misunderstanding] Uh-huh, that's perfect, 'cuz I am starving.
Kamari: [annoyed] We're not gonna eat him. Simba is dead, that's all she ever has to know. [leaves]
Azizi: Works for me. [leaves]

[Back in the Pride Lands, things had taken a turn for the worse, as Scar's reign over Pride Rock transformed the once lush veldt into a desolate wasteland]
Sarafina: Nala... come here. Sit with us.
[Zazu, flying overhead, watches the event, and perches down]
Nala: Zazu, where have you been?
Zazu: I'm sorry, Nala. I came as soon as I could.
Sarabi: The morning report, Zazu.
Zazu: Your Majesty, the Pride Lands are in imminent danger. The hyenas are chasing off the last of the herds.
[Azizi and Kamari approach, menacing on the hornbill]
Azizi: The bird's back!
Kamari: Get him!! [they chase off Zazu in pursuit] Don't come here again, unless you want to be eaten.
Nala: We have to do something, Sarabi. We have to fight.
Sarabi: Nala, Scar is the king.
Nala: But you are our queen. We should leave before it's too late.
Sarabi: We must all stay together and protect the Pride Lands. This is our home. We must never abandon it.
Nala: This isn't the home I remembered.
Sarabi: Our time will come, Nala. Be patient.
Shenzi: Sarabi, the king wishes to see you.
Nala: Don't go.
Sarabi: I'm not afraid of him.
[Sarabi ascends calmly to Scar, eating a gazelle leftover]
Scar: Won't you join me, Sarabi? There's plenty to go around.
Sarabi: You're overhunting, Scar.
Scar: I've simply perfected the kill with the help of my army.
Sarabi: You're killing everything.
Scar: Don't you see? There is nobody to challenge me. We can finally take whatever we want.
Sarabi: [confused] We?
Scar: Long ago, you chose Mufasa over me. But now there is a new king. So stop being so selfish.
Sarabi: You're the selfish one.
Scar: The other lions look to you. As long as you resist, they will reject me. Take your place by my side, and we will rule together.
Sarabi: [disgusted] I will never be your queen!
Scar: From now on, the lions will eat after the hyenas, and they don't leave much behind.
[The hyenas promptly surround and eat the gazelle]

Zazu: [Nala is leaving the Pride Lands at night to find Simba] Just what do you think you are doing, young lady?
Nala: Go away, Zazu. I'm going to find help.
Zazu: I will very much not go away! I am sworn to protect you, and must order you back to bed!
Nala: I don't need protecting anymore.

Pumbaa: [stargazing] Hey, Timon. Do you ever look up there and wonder what those sparkly dots are?
Timon: [also stargazing] Oh, Pumbaa. I don't wonder. I know.
Pumbaa: Really? What are they?
Timon: They're fireflies. Fireflies that got stuck on that big, bluish-black thing.
Pumbaa: Oh. I guess that makes sense. I always thought they were balls of gas burning billions of miles away.
Timon: Oh, Pumbaa, why is everything always gas with you?

Simba: Nala, you're gonna love it here! This place is amazing! It's everything you could ever want.
Nala: Simba, we need to leave. Scar has taken over with the hyenas. You have to take your place as king.
Timon: King? Simba?
Pumbaa: We kneel before you as loyal servants. [starts laughing with Timon]
Simba: Pumbaa, relax. She's wrong.
Timon: Lady, you've got your lions crossed.
Pumbaa: Nice.
Nala: Seeing you again? You don't know what this will mean to everyone. What this means to me. You have to come home.
Simba: This is my home. Please stay. This place is incredible. [nudges Nala's head] I know you love it.
Nala: [chuckles] I can't.
Simba: Come on! At least let me show you around.
Nala: Where are you going? [laughs]
[Camera pans down to Simba showing Nala the jungle]
Nala: Simba, it's so beautiful.
Timon: [starts singing] I can see what's happening.
Pumbaa: I can't, what?
Timon: And they don't have a clue.
Pumbaa: Who's "they"?
Timon: They'll fall in love, and here's the bottom line. Our trio's down to two.
Pumbaa: Oh, I get it.
Timon: The sweet caress of twilight.
Pumbaa: Yeah.
Timon: There's magic everywhere.
Pumbaa: It's everywhere.
Timon: And with all this romantic atmosphere, disaster's in the air.

Simba: I told you... isn't it great here? You know, maybe it will be like this forever.
Nala: It's amazing. But there's something I don't understand. If you've been alive all this time, why haven't you come back home? We really needed you.
Simba: They're fine, all right? Nobody needs me.
Nala: You're the king.
Simba: Nala, Scar is the king.
Nala: Simba, he's decimated the Pride Lands. There's no food. No water.
Simba: There's nothing I can do.
Nala: What about your mother? This is your responsibility. You need to challenge Scar.
Simba: I can't go back ever.
Nala: [louder] Why? Because of what happened in the gorge? Scar told us--
Simba: You wouldn't understand. None of it matters. Hakuna Matata.
Nala: [confused] What?
Simba: [irritated] It's something I learned out here, okay? See, sometimes bad things happen and there's nothing you can do about it. So why worry?
Nala: Why worry? What happened to you? You're not the Simba I remember.
Simba: And I never will be. Are you satisfied?
Nala: No, I'm disappointed.
Simba: You know, now you're starting to sound like my father.
Nala: Good. I'm glad one of us does.
[Simba is obviously cut by the comment about his father, and he loses his patience, tearing into Nala with his words]
Simba: You have no idea what I've been through!
Nala: I came here looking for help. I guess I've made a mistake. Goodbye, Simba. [storms off]

[Simba sees his father's spirit in the clouds]
Mufasa: Simba. You must take your place in the circle of life.
Simba: I can't.
Mufasa: You must remember who you are. The one true king.
Simba: I'm sorry. I don't know how to be like you.
Mufasa: As king, I was most proud of one thing. Having you as my son.
Simba: That was a long time ago.
Mufasa: No, Simba. That is forever.
Simba: Please. Don't leave me again.
Mufasa: I never left you. And never will. Remember who you are. Remember.

[Simba is charging through the desert in returning to the Pride Lands and is reunited with Nala]
Nala: Simba?
Simba: C'mon! What're you waitin' for? Let's go home!

Pumbaa: [notices Zazu] Hey, hey, look. A bird!
Simba: Timon. Pumbaa. This is Zazu.
Timon: Oh, wow! It's a puffin.
Zazu: Charming. Simba, we are with you until the end.
Pumbaa: We are at your service, my liege.
Simba: Follow me.

[Simba, Pumbaa, Timon, Zazu, and Nala make it to the Pride Lands]
Timon: [about the hyenas] What's your plan for getting us past the slobbering guards?
Simba: Live bait. [he, Nala, and Zazu look at Pumbaa]
Pumbaa: That's a great idea. Those guys could never resist fresh meat! So all we need to do is find something that's like big, plump, and juicy... maybe like a gnu?
[They all continue to stare blankly at Pumbaa]
Pumbaa: Why's everyone looking at me?
[Shenzi's clan of hyenas are paying attention to Timon. Pumbaa is set up like a roast pig]
Timon: O chère, mademoiselle. It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we proudly present your dinner! Be... our-- GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!
[Timon and Pumbaa flee before the clan of hunger-mad hyenas]

Scar: Sarabi, why put yourself through this? All you have to do is be my queen. You're suffering from what a memory of a life you once knew, a king you once loved. I tried to make you understand what a true king can be.
Sarabi: [patiently] Scar, a true king's power is his compassion.
Sarabi: [finally having enough of Scar] You are nothing compared to Mufasa!!
[Scar and Sarabi fight each other]
Scar: [notices Simba's roar] Mufasa? That can't be.
Simba: Get away from my mother!
Sarabi: [delighted] Simba? You're alive? [confused] How can that be?
Simba: I'm here, mother; I'm home.
Scar: Simba... I'm so happy to see you... [to Azizi and Kamari] ...alive.
Simba: Give me one good reason why I shouldn't rip you apart.
Scar: I can give you more than one. You see... [gestures to the hyenas] ...they think I'm king.
Nala: Well, we don't. Your reign is over, Scar. Simba is the rightful king. If you want to get him, you have to get through us. Are you with me, lions? [the lionesses roar in reply]
Simba: The choice is yours, Scar. Step down or fight.
Scar: Must it all end in violence? I'd hate to be responsible for the death of a family member. To feel ashamed of knowing I took the life of someone I love.
Simba: I've put all that behind me.
Scar: But have they put it behind them? Do your faithful subjects know what you've done?
Nala: What is he talking about?
Scar: So you haven't told them your little secret? Well, Simba, now is your chance to confess. Tell them who is responsible for Mufasa's death.
Simba: ... It was me.
Sarabi: It's not true. Tell me it's not true.
Simba: It's true, I'm sorry.
Scar: He admits it! Murderer!
Simba: No, it was an accident.
Scar: If it weren't for you, the king would be alive! It's your fault he's dead! Do you deny it?
Simba: I'm not a murderer.
Scar: We should believe a son who takes the life of a father? We should believe a son who takes the life of a king? A son who abandons his mother!
Simba: No, I'm--
Scar: You're what? Say it! Are you the king!?!
Simba: No, no. I--
Simba: [falls into despair all over again] No, I'm...
Scar: You're what?! Say it!!
Simba: [whimpering near the ledge] I'm nothing.
Scar: Then bow to your king!
[Simba falls and hangs over the ledge of Pride Rock]
Nala: SIMBA!
[Lightning strikes below, igniting a fire]
Scar: Now, this looks familiar. Where have I seen this before? ...Oh, yes. I remember! This is the way Mufasa looked before he died. I looked down, and saw the fear in his eyes. [claws Simba's paws] And here's my little secret. [whispers into Simba's ear] I killed Mufasa.
[In shock, Simba has a flashback in slow motion and realizes that it was Scar that killed Mufasa at the gorge]
Young Simba: [cries out] NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! [echoes]
[Simba's eyes wide open and his shock turns into fury as he bites Scar's mane and gets back up, resuming the confrontation]
Simba: My father, your own brother! HOW COULD YOU?!
Scar: [to the hyenas and lionesses] FIRST HE KILLS MUFASA, AND NOW HE WANTS TO KILL ME!!
Simba: YOU killed him! Tell them the truth!
Sarabi: Scar... you told us you didn't get to the gorge in time...
Scar: That's true!
[Scar growls, realizing he's been exposed]
Scar: [viciously, to the hyenas] KILL THEM ALL!!!!!
[The hyenas attack Simba in a wall of teeth]
Nala: Lions! Attack!
[The lionesses join in]

Timon: Pumbaa, I think we lost them.
Pumbaa: That was terrifying. [Shenzi's clan of hyenas peer close, emerging behind them] Do you hear a low growl?
Hyena: Looks like we'll be having pig for dinner... plump and chubby.
Pumbaa: [offended] "Chubby?" Did he just call me "chubby?"
Timon: Uh-oh. [runs behind a rock]
Pumbaa: It sounded a lot like he just said "chubby." Which would be a mistake, because I will not be made to feel ashamed of who I am!
Timon: Oh, boy.
Pumbaa: I MAY RUN FROM HYENAS, BUT I WILL ALWAYS FIGHT A BULLY!!!! [charges and drives the hyenas off]
Timon: Do you feel better, Pumbaa?
Pumbaa: I do.
Timon: You got that out of your system?
Pumbaa: I did.

[Nala is squaring off against Shenzi]
Shenzi: Now, this is a meal I have waited my whole life for.
Nala: I've been waiting, too. And I'm not a cub ANYMORE!! [they proceed to fight]

Simba: It's over, Scar!
Scar: Have mercy, I beg you.
Simba: Mercy? After what you did?!
Scar: It was the hyenas. Those revolting scavengers made me do it. I was planning on killing them all!
[Shenzi, Kamari, and Azizi overhear and growl at Scar's betrayal]
Simba: You fooled the hyenas! Just like you fooled me!
Scar: Simba, you wouldn't kill your only uncle?
Simba: No, Scar. I'm not like you.
Scar: Oh, Simba. You are truly noble, and I will make it up to you. Just tell me how I can prove myself. Tell me what you want me to do.
Simba: Run... run away, Scar. Run away, and never return!
Scar: Yes. Of course. [slowly slinks away, noticing a pile of hot coals] As you wish, your MAJESTY. [throws the embers at Simba's face and they proceed to fight]
Simba: You can't win, Scar.

Scar: [notices the hyenas] My friends, it will take some time, but together, we will build our army.
Kamari: "Friends", huh? I thought you said we were "revolting scavengers"?
Azizi: Yeah. And you wanted to kill us!
Scar: No, no. Let me explain! I was trying to fool him. We will rule together!
Shenzi: [emerges from the smoke] There's only one true thing you ever said, Scar.... a hyena's belly is never full!
Scar: NOOOOOOO!!!!
[Realizing the hyenas have turned against him, Scar tries to fight off the hyenas but they all quickly overwhelm him and maul him to death]
