Trolls World Tour is a 2020 American animated jukebox musical comedy film, produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is the sequel to the first Trolls film back in 2016. The film's plot follows Poppy and Branch embarking on a daring mission to unite the trolls and save the diverse melodies from becoming extinct. It was released in the United States in limited theaters on April 10, 2020. Due to the 2020 pandemic in the United States, the film was also released for digital rental on the same day. It set several streaming records, including becoming Universal's most successful day-one rental.

Directed by Walt Dohrn. Written by Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, Elizabeth Tippet, Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky.

Poppy

Poppy: In the beginning, we were divided. Our ancestors thought we were just too different to get along. It turns out they were wrong. Very, very WRONG. (Ancestor Troll: We're sorry.)
Poppy: You have to be able to listen to other voices, even when they don't agree with you. They make us stronger, more creative, more inspired. So whether your song is sad and heartfelt, loud and defiant, or warm and funky, or even if you're a little bit of each, [all these sounds and all our differences that make the world a richer place. Because you can't harmonize alone(She and Branch shake hands, in love. When suddenly a child from the Country tribe, the Clampers Dawn of Niece of Delta Dawn, bites a Scratchbook). Clampers! Dialogue

[Poppy and Branch have just evacuated from the Funk Trolls’s spaceship as Queen Barb and her army start their assault on it. They watch the battle helplessly from their bubble.]
Poppy: No! [grunts as she pushes their bubble] We have to get back down there! There's still hope we can still fix this!
Branch: Poppy, enough! I've listened to you and I've done it your way, and now it's your turn to listen. It’s time to get back home.
Poppy: I'm not like you. I can't just give up.
Branch: Give up? I want to protect our friends and family!
Poppy: I can't go home until I’ve proven myself as a good queen!
Branch: So that's what this is really all about?
Poppy: Why are you so upset?
Branch: Because your dad was right, and Biggie was right & Queen Essence was right. And I've been backing you up even when you ignored them! [sadly turns away from Poppy and sighs] But you never listen to me.
Poppy: Branch, what are you talking about?
Branch: You want to be a good queen? Good queens actually listen. Know what I heard back there? Differences do matter, like... you and me. We're too different to get along, just like all the other Trolls.
[Their bubble lands and pops gently on the ground as they look at each other with disappointment for a moment. Then, Branch starts walking away from Poppy.]
Poppy: We are really different.
Branch: So different.
Poppy: Completely out of harmony.
Branch: Completely!
Poppy: I don't even know why we're friends!
Branch: Neither do I!
[Branch continues to walk off, but then he stops and hesitates for a moment.]
Branch: So… why do I care about you more than anyone else in the world? [turns around to Poppy for a response, but she never answered him back] Weird... right? [finally proceeds to walk away into the woods, leaving Poppy heartbroken at his words.]
Guy Diamond: [auto-tuned scream while sitting on a mushroom] Poppy, come quick! It's an emergency!
Poppy: Guy Diamond, what's wrong?
Guy Diamond: I'm having a... baby! [Everyone screams in shock, except Poppy who screams with a smile on her face]
Satine and Chenille: [they sew a small knitted outfit] We're on jumpsuit duty.
Cooper: I get to be a role model.
Smidge: [angry] I don't want to be a big sister!! [Suddenly, a silver egg with silver hair on top pops out of Guy Diamond's hair, which immediately bursts open, and a baby emerges, which is a miniature version of Guy]
Chorus: ♪Oh, sparkly baby♪.
Guy Diamond: [to Poppy] What should I name him?
Poppy: Hmm, how about... Tiny Diamond?
[Cooper enters the clearing, still searching for Trolls like himself. Suddenly, he spots a someone behind the leaves with legs similar to his own]
Cooper: [happily] Trolls that look Like me! [he looks at his legs] Yes! [He runs through the vines, only to discover with surprise that the "Troll" is actually 2 bipedal, bizarre yellow creatures. One of them approaches Cooper] Hello there? [The creatures make sounds similar to saxophones. Then 1 and 2 more long-necked creatures appear. One of them half-swallows Cooper, but immediately spits him out, confusing the other. Cooper is so terrified by this that he excretes a 3-tier cake, then candles and fire; he hesitantly picks up the cake, smiling nervously] Happy Birthday?
[Flat fishes appear on the screen to the left, swimming into the depths of the water. A pixelated heart appears from below. Which, as it turns out, is located on chest of an underwater, mermaid-like humanoid of the Techno Troll species, who is swimming somewhere. Suddenly, more Techno Trolls appear, also swimming somewhere. Techno music plays in the background. The camera zooms in on the coral reef, where hundreds of Techno Trolls, which move like waves can be seen. The camera zooms in on the DJ booth, where their ruler, King Trollex, is stationed]
King Trollex: ♪One More Time One more time, one more time♪ What's up, my Techno Trolls?!
Techno Trolls: Yeah!
[Green Techno Trolls with surname Blush are dancing, and their son, Coral, is enthusiastically waving his arms]
King Trollex: ♪ We're gonna celebrate Oh, yeah, all right, don't stop the dancing ♪ [A dark blue Techno Troll is blowing a heart-shiped bubble from its mouth, when Coral plays with his parents. A young Techno Troll takes an interest in a bubble that stops in front of King Trollex and then bursts] Tonight is about family, [points to his heart on his chest with his fingers] loved and music! [Coral looks with a smile at the heart on his chest as his parents embrace her. Then, the Blush family joins hands and begins to dance to the music]


Barb: Oh Okay, All Right, You're Feisty I Respect That, Strong Woman To Strong Woman [hits her chest three times and then crosses her arms], Am I Right, But You Know Who Else Was Feisty? Pop Village.
Poppy: [Gasps] Oh No, No!
[The scene changes to show Biggie ran as Fast as he could back to Pop Village with Mr. Dinkles in his arms].
Biggie: [Announced Once There] Everyone! Everyone! We're Back! [gasps in horror at the Village] Oh No.
[After Poppy destroys the guitar, rendering the strings destroyed and the colors vanishing, all the Trolls who became Rock zombies have been turned back to normal]
Poppy: [notices Branch is okay] Branch! [drops the smashed guitar and runs to Branch]
Barb: [shocked] No...
[Barb walks over to her destroyed guitar and snapped strings]
Barb: My strings... [picks up some of the snapped strings which disintegrates; to Poppy] What have you done? You destroyed music! [to everyone] Give it up, everybody! Thanks to the Queen of Pop, we've all lost our music! History repeats itself. Pop has ruined everything. [scowls]
[Cooper uses the microphone to make everyone listen to his heartbeat from his glowing heart, and Prince D joins in by beatboxing to the melody]
Queen Essence: Those are my sons... making music.


[In Post-credits scene, King Gristle and Bridget (now Queen of Bergen) come to the Pop Trolls's village and then turn around in confusion]
Bridget: [disappointed] Aw, Grissy, I guess we're late to the party.
King Gristle: [irritated; he throws the crown to the ground] Aw, balls!
Bridget: [embarrassed] Grissy!
King Gristle: [picks up the dish] But who's gonna eat my cheese balls, babe?
