Trolls World Tour is a 2020 American computer-animated jukebox musical film, produced by DreamWorks Animation and distributed by Universal Pictures. It is the sequel to the first Trolls film back in 2016. The film's plot follows Poppy and Branch embarking on a daring mission to unite the trolls and save the diverse melodies from becoming extinct. It was released in the United States in limited theaters on April 10, 2020. Due to the 2020 pandemic in the United States, the film was also released for digital rental on the same day. It set several streaming records, including becoming Universal's most successful day-one rental.

Directed by Walt Dohrn. Written by Jonathan Aibel, Glenn Berger, Elizabeth Tippet, Maya Forbes and Wallace Wolodarsky.

Poppy[edit]

  • In the beginning, we were divided. Our ancestors thought we were just too different to get along. It turns out they were wrong. Very, very wrong.
  • A world where everyone looks the same and even sounds the same? That's not harmony!
  • A good queen listens. Real harmony takes lots of voices! DIFFERENT voices! [smashes Barb's guitar, causing all of the Trolls' colors to disappear]

Dialogue[edit]

[Poppy and Branch have just evacuated from the Funk Trolls’ spaceship as Queen Barb and her army start their assault on it. They watch the battle helplessly from their bubble.]
Poppy: No! [grunts as she pushes their bubble] We have to get back down there! There's still hope we can still fix this!
Branch: Poppy, enough! I've listened to you and I've done it your way, and now it's your turn to listen. It’s time to get back home.
Poppy: I'm not like you. I can't just give up.
Branch: Give up? I want to protect our friends and family!
Poppy: I can't go home until I’ve proven myself as a good queen!
Branch: So that's what this is really all about?
Poppy: Why are you so upset?
Branch: Because your dad was right, and Biggie was right and Queen Essence was right. And I've been backing you up even when you ignored them! [sadly turns away from Poppy and sighs] But you never listen to me.
Poppy: Branch, what are you talking about?
Branch: You want to be a good queen? Good queens actually listen. Know what I heard back there? Differences do matter, like... you and me. We're too different to get along, just like all the other Trolls.
[Their bubble lands and pops gently on the ground as they look at each other with disappointment for a moment. Then, Branch starts walking away from Poppy.]
Poppy: We are really different.
Branch: So different.
Poppy: Completely out of harmony.
Branch: Completely!
Poppy: I don't even know why we're friends!
Branch: Neither do I!
[Branch continues to walk off, but then he stops and hesitates for a moment.]
Branch: So… why do I care about you more than anyone else in the world? [turns around to Poppy for a response, but she never answered him back] Weird... right? [finally proceeds to walk away into the woods, leaving Poppy heartbroken at his words.]
[After Poppy destroys the guitar, rendering the strings destroyed and the colors vanishing, all the Trolls who became Rock zombies have been turned back to normal]
Poppy: [notices Branch is okay] Branch! [drops the smashed guitar and runs to Branch]
Barb: [shocked] No...
[Barb walks over to her destroyed guitar and snapped strings]
Barb: My strings... [picks up some of the snapped strings which disintegrates; to Poppy] What have you done? You destroyed music! [to everyone] Give it up, everybody! Thanks to the Queen of Pop, we've all lost our music! History repeats itself. Pop has ruined everything. [scowls]
[Cooper uses the microphone to make everyone listen to his heartbeat from his glowing heart, and Prince D joins in by beatboxing to the melody]
Queen Essence: Those are my sons... making music.
