Format for dates[edit]

Please see this link, especially the paragraph beginning "Preference-based date formatting," for information on the uses of dates in articles. In the last few years we have begun, rather gradually and randomly, to format dates so that they link to Quote of the Day pages. This is being done so as to provide a chronological link for potential Quotes of the Day. Although such formatting is not mandatory, it would merely be counterproductive to delete it where it already exists.
