Unconstructive edit
[edit]Hello. Please stop making unconstructive edits on Amy Lee and other pages. Lapadite (talk) 04:18, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- Well, I haven't created the category Women singers. Amy Lee is a singer, isn't she? So what's the problem?--Poistuuko Manu? (talk) 16:03, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Lapadite: Why? what's wrong with that edit? Ottawahitech (talk) 16:35, 10 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Ottawahitech, Poistuuko Manu?: The women musician category exists, so why remove female musicians from it? Unless there is consensus somewhere stating otherwise, stop moving female musicians from the female musicians category into the female singers category. Musician isn't merely "singer", it is not by definition the same as "singer". Maybe a discussion should be had about merging both categories or defining them separately, if this is an issue. --Lapadite (talk) 04:30, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- @Lapadite: I have created Category:Women singers because it's parent-category, Category:Women musicians, was getting to be too big, so it was time to start diffusing it. Singers are a group of musicians that are usually different than say, composers, pianists, and others.
- @Ottawahitech Why do you determine Category:Women singers to be a parent category of women musicians, and not simply adjacent? Singers as a category should not be above musicians as a category. There are musicians who aren't singers, and singers who aren't musicians. In the aforementioned case, Amy Lee is both a singer and musician/instrumentalist/composer (classically-trained pianist, and multi-instrumentalist). So why, again, are singer-musicians being removed from the musicians category and confined to a singers category? Either keep singers and musicians in both categories or solely in the musician category. --Lapadite (talk) 02:30, 12 November 2022 (UTC)
- Also you may not be aware that the term "female" is offensive to a large proportion of the population? Ottawahitech (talk) 20:02, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
- Yeah, someone who has time (and gets not blocked tens of times by Hasley and Ruslik0) could create subcategories like Women guitarists and so on.--Paloniemen Jaska (talk) 22:46, 11 November 2022 (UTC)
