Guidelines for discussion[edit]

I'm not clear on what level of discussion of new stuff is supposed to appear here. Are there any examples in other WikiMedia projects? (I didn't find a w:Wikipedia:Week in review when I checked just now.) Also, how is this different from Wikiquote:Community Portal, which already reports on current happenings? It seems to me there are already too many places to look for something, and consequently too many places to remember to post information.

It's also instructive to observe that WQ:CP itself is currently and frequently very much out-of-date. Aphaia was the primary maintainer of that page, until she became more involved in other projects. MosheZadka followed with a week of activity related to some bot, Vfd, and image-upload issues, but virtually nothing has been done since, other than to revert vandalism. This is how things go on Wikiquote in its current state, which is why I question the editor availability and involvement for a new effort like this. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 22:18, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sj asked me to make a weekly report, something around three lines or so, of what is going on here. I'm not entirely sure what intent he has for it, but I assume it is for larger Foundation use, but stored locally to make it easier to keep updated. I'm curious — if it's for Foundation use, why doesn't Wikipedia have one? I'm against adding to administrative burdens when the few active folks are already spread so thin. (Has anyone responded to any of your WQ policy initiatives yet?) Sometimes I think that folks working on Foundation-wide efforts assume every project has Wikipedia-like resources. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 03:14, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
We didn't discuss Wikipedia, but I would guess that he'll pull from The Wikipedia Signpost, which is already doing this sort of thing. When I see him, I'll point him this way. Essjay TalkContact 04:23, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
