x-an actresses or actresses from-Y

I recently asked User:Saroj Uprety why they moved items from 'Category:Mexican actresses into Category:Actresses from Mexico. SU replied that here was a discussion about this at : Wikiquote:Village_pump_archive_57#About_categories.

Looking at the 2020 discussion on the Village Pump (VP), it appears that at that time both x-an and from-Y subcategories existed at category-actresses-by-country. Admin UDScott expressed their opinion that the format from-Y should be adopted for all. Admin GMG does not seem to agree with this philosophy since I see they have moved many from-Y-sub-cats to a x-an-sub-cat name. User:Ferien has also done some moving in this respect recently, and I am sure many other WQers.

This seems like an endless procecess to me, so I thought we should try to iron out this problem. Anyone have views, observations, speculations on this topic? Note that this discussion will probably stay open for a long time until a community consensus can be reached. Ottawahitech (talk) 17:26, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
