This is a container category?

[edit]

This category has been designated as a container category by an admin of the Englsh wikiquote, I assume, but it is obviously a category with 2 items that are not categories, namely Women in South Korea and Women in Tonga. I believe this designation should be removed, but don't want to do anythig that is frowned upon on this wiki.

What should I do? Ottawahitech (talk) 15:38, 24 November 2024 (UTC)Reply

I would argue that neither of those pages belong in this category anyway - the category is for women that are sorted by their country of origin. These two pages do not fit that, as they are about how women in these two countries are treated. I would instead place them into Category:South Korea and Category:Tonga. ~ UDScott (talk) 00:57, 25 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
I completely disagree with placing those 2 categories in low level country categories. To me a page about women in a certain country should be available side by side with other like pages for comparison purposes. No? Ottawahitech (talk) 15:54, 25 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
But that's the point - the other subcategories within this category are not "like pages". This category is for merely sorting women by their country of origin. Those two pages are about those particular countries' treatment of women. The reason for the container category tag is to advise users to not just place pages within the top-level category, but rather sort them by their country - so that we don't end up with a page for an individual woman in the top-level category. One other thought: in addition to adding these subcategories as I suggested above, maybe add them to Category:Women as well. ~ UDScott (talk) 16:37, 25 November 2024 (UTC)Reply
