Like You Like An Arsonist [3.01]
[edit]- Nathan: I deleted you. Your messeage
- Haley: Well... Then you deleted this: Um... I was being childish when I walked away from you for the tour. You gave me an ultimatum the night that I left and, uh, I fought back for all the wrong reasons. I was being stubborn... and I can't take that back, I wish that I could. Did I want to go? Yeah. I loved it, I loved every night of it. But I want you to know something Nathan. There was never a night where I loved it more than I loved you.
- ...
- Haley: I understand if you don’t love me anymore. が具時はや府時
- Nathan: Always and forever. That’s what sucks, Haley. I still do love you. I always will. I just can’t trust you.
- Brooke: This is our new post-game party palace. All it needs is a P. Sawyer makeover, a little paint, couple of those creepy nobody-understands-me drawings that you do and a batch of hot boys.
- Priest: May the grace of god be with you.
- Dan: Yeah, OK. I gotta tell you, padre, this isn’t exactly my home court, you know. I never had much use for religion. I guess what you call kindness, I call weakness. But .. no man is bullet-proof. I know that. After all, they crucified your boy, didn’t they?
- Priest: What troubles you, my son?
- Dan: What troubles me -- is how I’ve made mistakes. How I lie awake at night, keeping company with regret, fallibility. I’ve not been the man I intended to be. That troubles me.
- Priest: And you’ve come seeking absolution?
- Dan: Yeah, I suppose I have. Let me ask you something; is it possible to grant forgiveness for sinful acts yet to be committed?
- Priest: I’m afraid I don’t understand.
- Lucas: Look, I know it wasn’t fair, how I told you I wanted to be with you when your cab was just parked right outside. I just saw you slipping away and I guess I panicked.
- Brooke: It’s OK. Really. It is. I actually had the whole summer to think about this and I thought we could totally have a summer-like fling, just in the fall. And non-exclusive.
- Lucas: Non-exclusive. How does that work?
- Brooke: Well, we hang out, we go to movies, we have fun.
- Lucas: Do we kiss?
- Brooke:You bet your ass we kiss.
- Lucas: Do we do more than kiss?
- Brooke: Maybe. But we also date other people.
- Peyton: [voiceover] At this moment there are 6,470,818,671 people in the world. Some are running scared. Some are coming home. Some tell lies to make it through the day. Others are just now facing the truth. Some are evil men, at war with good. And some are good, struggling with evil. Six billion people in the world. Six billion souls. And sometimes -- all you need is one.
From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea [3.02]
[edit]- Lucas: [voiceover] Henry David Thoreau once wrote, "Live each season as it passes. Breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, but resign yourself to the influences of each."
First Day On A Brand New Planet' [3.03]
[edit]- Lucas: [voiceover] Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote: 'All are architects of fate... living in these walls of time.'
- Haley: I'm usually one of those people who likes the first day of school. You know, new pens; new book; new backpack.
- Brooke: A nerd.
- Haley: Exactly!
- Brooke: You know, sometimes people play hard-to-get because they need to know the other person's feelings are real.
- Lucas: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wrote: 'All are architects of fate... so look not mournfully into the past. It comes not back again.'
An Attempt To Tip The Scales [3.04]
[edit]- Lucas: [voiceover] Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, 'There is no privacy that cannot be penetrated. No secret can be kept in the civilized world. Society is a masked ball where everyone hides his real character, then reveals it by hiding.
- Karen: Haley? Are you Okay?
- Haley: Yeah, if okay's, like, heels that are killing me and underwear that's digging into my ribcage and I'm about five minutes from going home and binging on cookie dough.
- Dan: Where is all my stuff, Deb?
- Deb: I gave it away.
- Dan: You what?!
- Deb: I had to. It was all wet and smelly.
- Dan: And how did that happen?
- Deb: The sprinklers came on by accident after I tossed everything out the window. That part was on purpose.
A Multitude Of Casualties [3.05]
[edit]- Brooke: Naked in the backseat? That's so last year it's two years ago.
- Lucas: Brooke, this isn't what it looks like. Anyways, I don't know why you are so upset.
- Brooke: You're kidding, right?
- Lucas: You're the one that wanted to be non-exclusive. I'm just doing what you wanted.
- Brooke: What I wanted? I wanted you to fight for me! I wanted you to say that there was no one else that you could ever be with and that you'd rather be alone than without me. I wanted the Lucas Scott from the beach that night telling the world that he's the one for me.
- Lucas: How was I supposed to know that?
- Brooke: You just are.
- Lucas: If I tell Whitey I have a heart condition, I'm off the team.
- Haley: Yeah, and if you don't tell Whitey about your heart condition, you're off the planet.
- Whitey: [To Dan during the massive brawl started by Lucas and Nathan] Damn your sperm Danny!
Locked Hearts And Hand Grenades [3.06]
[edit]- Lucas: [voice over]
- Out of the night that covers me,
- Black as the Pit from pole to pole,
- I thank whatever gods may be
- For my unconquerable soul.
- In the fell clutch of circumstance
- I have not winced nor cried aloud.
- Under the bludgeoning of chance
- My head is bloody, but unbowed.
- Beyond this place of wrath and tears
- Looms but the Horror of the shade,
- And yet the menace of the years
- Finds, and shall find me, unafraid.
- It matters not how strait the gate,
- How charged with punishments the scroll
- I am the master of my fate:
- I am the captain of my soul.
- - Invictus, William Ernest Henley
- Haley: Never expected the cheerleading squad to have more drama than the drama club.
- Brooke: Bevin, what the hell was going through your size two brain?!
- Bevin: You said we could trade.
- Brooke: Why is she wearing my necklace?
- Bevin: Because that was part of the trade.
- Brooke: Okay, why would you trade your third pick and my necklace, for Rachel's fifth pick?
- Bevin: Duh! Brooke, five is more than three. Oh, it made total sense when Rachel explained it.
- Brooke: Right
Champagne For My Real Friends, Real Pain For My Sham Friends [3.07]
[edit]- Brooke: It was a fantasy draft Dim, you know like the fantasies you have about Nathan, not real.
- Haley: OK. You know the moment that I left the tour?...We were playing this club in Illinois... and Chris decides to do a cover of an eighties song called, um, 'Missing You'... and everybody starts singing along, the crowds loving it and they turn the house lights up pause and I could see every face out there... and I... fell apart. On stage, in front of three thousand people; I lost it. I couldn't sing, I couldn't hear the music. Nothing. Because... that was the moment that I knew... that none of it could ever be enough without you. All of the celebrity and all of the applause and all the pretty melodies... couldn't fill your void in my heart. So... yeah, I guess you're right; it’s not the life I would've had... 'cause ever since I met you, it has been so much more.
- Lucas: [to Rachel] You know if I ever met the devil, I figured she be hot and holding a basketball.
- Lucas: [voiceover] Blaise Pascal once said: "The heart has reasons that reason cannot know."
The Worst Day Since Yesterday [3.08]
[edit]- Lucas: [voiceover] Robert Louis Stevenson once said, "You cannot run away from a weakness; you must sometimes fight it out or perish. And if that be so, why not now, and where you stand?"
- Nathan: Your game sucks. Fix it.
- Lucas: Your marriage sucks. Fix it.
- Nathan: It's hard to get back into the ring, especially with the one who knocked you out in the first place.
How A Resurrection Really Feels [3.09]
[edit]- Haley: Oh, where did we go so wrong?
- Brooke: Well, I slept with Chris Keller and you went on tour with him.
- Hayley: When did we start letting boys dictate our happiness?
- Brooke: I was 9.
- Brooke: There are 82 letters in here, and they're all addressed to you. I wrote them all this summer. One a day, but I never sent them 'cause I was afraid....I was afraid of getting my heart broken again, like before. 'Cause you hurt me so bad, and I was afraid to be vulnerable. And I was afraid of you and the way that you make me feel. And I know that doesn't matter now after what I did, but I just thought that you should know. This was how I spent my summer Luke, wanting you... I was just too scared to admit it.
- Lucas: Brooke! I'm sorry! What you did with Chris...it's okay.
- Brooke: It's not. It can't be. It's too much to forgive!
- Lucas: Well that's too bad because I forgive you.
- Brooke: You can't.
- Lucas: I just did. So you're gonna just have to deal with it. I'm the guy for you Brooke Davis, and I know I hurt you last time we're together, but...
- Brooke: I love you.
- Lucas: I love you too... pretty girl.
- Nathan: I should've known you can't be honest.
- Chris Keller: I can be honest.
- Nathan: No, you can´t!
- Chris: I kissed Haley...at the masquerade party.
- [Nathan hits him]
- Chris: Ow, man I was trying to help you!
- Nathan: What? [hits him again]
- Chris: See that's why I'm never honest! And stop hitting me!
- Nathan: Stop kissing my wife!
- Chris: I will, when you start kissing her!
- [Nathan hits Chris again]
- Haley: Hi
- Nathan: Hey, thanks for coming.
- Haley: Yeah, thanks for calling me...What's wrong?
- Nathan: Your song is great, Haley. Chris played it for me. It's a long story, but it's really great. I just wanted you to know that.
- Haley: Oh, OK.
- Nathan: My mom left, for good, I think. Oh and apparently my dad's the mayor now. So yeah, today had really sucked ass.
- Haley: Oh, Nathan, I'm so sorry.
- Nathan: You know, for most of my life I would have gone through this alone, then I met you and I finally found someone I could depend on when life got like this. So I guess I called to see if that was still there.
- Haley: Nathan, you can always call me. Always and Forever... I wanna ask you something. The night of the masquerade party, did we...Did you kiss me?
- Nathan: Of course i did [they kiss]
- Haley: Oh no you didn't. That kiss wasn't half as good as this one...I love you for lying to me...thanks for calling. [kisses him on the cheek and walks towards the door]
- Nathan: Haley.
- Haley: Yeah.
- Nathan: Stay with me tonight.
- Haley: Oh, I was hoping you would say that.
- Dan: They said we were beaten! They said we were dead! But they should know by now: you can’t kill Dan Scott!
- Peyton's subconcious: (In the dream, Peyton is seen putting a flower on someone's grave and Peyton felt guilty about losing someone. When she gets up, a mysterious figure in her halloween costume is behind her) You better make room. (Peyton turns around to see someone that looks like her) Your other mom should be dead soon.
- Peyton: (Peyton wakes up from a horrible dream and discovers someone) Okay, this is crap.
- Peyton's subconcious: What's that?
- Peyton: You, being here. cause one thing in my dream is I'm awake now.
- Peyton's subconcious: You sure about that? (Puts her bowl on the table) Besides guilt never sleeps.
- Peyton: Guilt? Oh, oh so that's it you're what... my subconcious?
- Peyton's subconcious: No no, I'm just like the little voice inside your head... only if I'm not part of the inside now.
- Peyton: Fine! I'm talking to myself. Sure, I'll play along, hey, what are you doing here?
- Peyton's subconcious: Well, I'm busy having a snack and see it was kind of great actually. I eat and you get fat! Oh, hey! I fix this for you. (She shows Peyton her own drawing and changed some of the words from People always Leave to People always Grieve)
- Peyton: (Peyton saw the words changed up by accident) People alway Grieve? You spelled it wrong.
- Peyton's subconcious: Yeah well if I spelled it wrong then... so have you.
- Peyton: Who knew my subconcious could be such a bitch.
- Peyton's subconcious: No no, we're a bitch, try to keep up, Okay? Oh, hey! Check it out! (Shows Peyton to her very own closet) Closet full of anxiety, get it?
- Peyton: Listen, Ghost of christmas goth, what'll I have to do or say to get rid of you?
- Peyton's subconcious: That's easy... Where's your bracelet?
Brave New World [3.10]
[edit]- Lucas: Ida Scott Taylor once wrote: Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone. And do not trouble about the future for it is yet to come. Live in the present and make it so beautiful, that it will be worth remembering.
- Brooke: Mouth, you didn't exactly break any speed records driving over here, you know.
- Mouth: You called me 17 minutes ago and I drive a bicycle, Brooke.
- Deb: I'm so sorry Nathan,I am, but the fire at the dealership - it wasn't an accident. We were going to get out, remember. But your father wouldn't have that. It was me. I tried to kill him. [Nathan shrugs off Deb's hands] I was so miserable that day because of your father. I hadn't been out of rehab long and it had been a difficult day. I had to find some strength, some courage, to find a way out, and that's when I found one. There were just four things left to do. The first was to type the card. The second was to deliver it. The third was to light it. The fourth was to ask God to take me far away from this person I'd become. I'm sorry Nathan, I did it for both of us, to free us.
- Nathan: No. [Starts to walk away]
- Deb: Please Nathan, wait.
- Nathan: No. You didn't have the courage to leave him, but you had the courage to kill him.
- Peyton: Look, I hate to ask, OK? But over the summer you kinda promised that if I ever wanted to go and find Ellie you would come with me.
- Lucas: Yeah, I remember. Did you find her?
- Peyton: [nods] And I think I wanna go see her.
- Lucas: Today?
- Peyton: Right now actually, cause if I don't go I never will and I need to. Will you go?
- Lucas: Sure. A promise is a promise.
- Lucas: [at the river court] This is my world Brooke. Or at least it used to be.
- Brooke: I have been here before you know.
- Lucas: I know but I just never told you what this place is to me. It's not just a court, it's where I came from it's where I belong. It's my world.
- Brooke: So do I get to be part of this world?
- Lucas: The biggest part.
Return Of The Future [3.11]
[edit]- Lucas: H.L. Mencken wrote: 'Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit upon his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin slitting throats.'
- Brooke: What are you doing?
- Nathan: Oh, I was just, looking for band-aids.
- Brooke: Well buddy, you found my birth control patches. Those fix a whole other problem. Next cabinet.
- Nathan: Haley, what if something happened? That would have changed our lives forever!
- Haley: Like what, marriage?!
- Brooke: Ooh, she's good.
- Haley: And if you're so worried, then why didn't you stop us? It's just as much your responsibility as it is mine.
- Nathan: You're right. It is my responsibility, let me see the pills.
- Haley: I can not believe you still don't believe me. I can't believe it. Here take them. I don't need them anymore.
- Nathan: Haley..
- Haley: Your future as a basketball player is totally secure. Your future as my husband, not so much.
- Lucas: [to Karen] If you're always looking for reasons not to be with somebody, well you'll always find them, and I guess at some point you should let go and give your heart what it deserves.
I've Got Dreams To Remember [3.12]
[edit]- Keith: I asked your mom out on a date. Hope that's okay with you.
- Lucas: I think it's great. What'd she say?
- Keith: Funny. I guess you had to ask the question I mean my track record with your mom is about as bad as the Raven's.
- Lucas: Ah.
- Keith: So do me a favor, win tomorrow night. I was gonna say score but I didn't think that was appropriate.
- Lucas: Ugh.
- Guidance Counselor: So, you're interested in fashion design.
- Brooke: Yes, but I'm interested in a lot of things.
- Guidance Counselor: Such as?
- Brooke: I'm student council president, captain of the cheerleaders, founder of 'DW not I' and girlfriend of Raven's star shooting guard, Lucas Scott.
- Brooke: The truth is, I don't really like to think about college 'cause that means high school's over. After graduation everyone will probably go play basketball, or sing, or start record labels. And I'll have to start all over - alone.
The Wind That Blew My Heart Away [3.13]
[edit]- Haley: Nathan, when I look back at the tour I'm not like proud of it because I know you weren't proud of me.
- Nathan: Is that what you think? That I wasn't proud of you?
- [Haley nods]
- Nathan:I'll show you something. It's in my car. (He stands up and goes to his car outside)
- Haley: Nathan, it's crazy out there!
- [Nathan in the rain going to his car]
- Haley: Nathan, what are you doing?!
- [Nathan is holding a box filled with newspaper and magazine clippings from Haley's tour. They fly all over the place because of the strong wind.]
- Nathan: I was hurt Haley. But I was proud of you. Everyday.
- [Haley kisses Nathan]
- Nathan: Wait, they're all getting ruined.
- Haley: You don't need all that stuff, you've got me.
- [They kiss again and Nathan lifts Haley up then lays her down in front of the car]
- Peyton: Say hi to my mom... Mom
- Lucas: The truth is, I care about Peyton.
- Brooke: Then what is the difference?
- Lucas: The difference? The difference is I love you Brooke. I wanna be with you, not Peyton.
- Brooke: But why? I need to know why.
- Lucas: Because, you kink your eyebrow when you're trying to be cute. Because you quote Camus even though I've never actually seen you read. Because you miss your parents, but you'll never admit that. And because I've given exactly two of these embarrassing speeches in my life, and they've both been with you. I mean, that's gotta mean something right? And because we're both gonna get pneumonia, but if you need to hear why I love you, I can go on all night.
- w:Brooke Davis: You did pretty good. [they kiss]
- Ellie: Every song has a CODA, a final movement. Whether it fades out or crashes away. Every song ends. Is that any reason not to enjoy the music? The truth is, there is nothing to be afraid of. It's just life.
- Mouth: But I'm not that guy, Rachel, and I don't want to be. So maybe the elite girls just aren't for me. But one of these days, I'm gonna meet a girl who really loves me. Maybe she won't be what you call hot, but I'll think she's beautiful and I'll tell her so. I won't be mean to her because I don't have to play games with her. I'll just be the guy she can always count on and that'll be enough. And she'll be elite to me.
All Tomorrow's Parties [3.14]
[edit]- Lucas: Most of our lives are a series of images. They pass us by like towns on the highway. But sometimes, a moment stuns us as it happens, and we know that this instant is more than just a fleeting image. We know that this moment, every part of it, will live on forever.
- Peyton: [to Lucas] I feel like you're always saving me...also like there's a giant elephant on my head.
- Peyton: You never worked so hard for anything in your life, except your fake ID!
- Nathan: Yeah, very funny Lucas. Your ass is still sleeping on the floor.
- Haley: Surprise. I switched rooms with Lucas, I don't have to sleep on the floor do I?
- Nathan: How'd you manage to switch rooms?
- Haley: Well believe it or not Bevin "mastermind" Mirskey arranged the whole thing.
- Nathan: Come here. You have any room in there for me?
- Haley: I thought you'd never ask.
- Lucas:: [voiceover] Most of our life is a series of images. They pass us by like towns on the highway. But sometimes, a moment stuns us as it happens. And we know that this instant is more than just a fleeting image. We know that this moment, every part of it, will live on forever.
Just Watch The Fireworks [3.15]
[edit]- Haley: What'd you say to Hooter girl when she made her topless debut?
- Lucas: I told her she looked beautiful.
- Nathan: Do you ever think we can have a function in this town that doesn't end up in a brawl?
- Lucas: Why? Getting a little too 'Outsiders' for you?
- Nathan: I never saw it.
- Lucas: Well, you would have been one of the bad guys.
- Brooke: Ahem
- Peyton: Hey, Brooke
- Brooke: Don't 'hey, Brooke' me. What is up with you and Hottie McHottie?
- Peyton: Who? McWhat?
- Brooke: Don't even try it. Please, the Fall Out Boy? I can spot him hitting - on - you from a mile away, and you were definitely returning fire.
- Peyton: We talked for like 10 seconds.
- Brooke: So you move fast. You should ask him to check you for lumps.
- Peyton: Okay, not funny.
- Brooke: What? he's a musician. He's got to have good hands.
- Mouth: I've got to find my friend.
- Rachel: Why?
- Mouth : Because he's my friend.
- Rachel : You know Mouth, that guy is either gonna stand on his own two feet or he's gonna fall, but he has to do it on his own. That's the scary truth, Mouth. We're all alone.
- Mouth : Not if we have friends.
- Whitey: I've come to the conclusion that if having things turn out the way you wanted them to is a measure of a successful life, then some would say I'm a failure. The important thing is not to be bitter over life's disappointments. Learn to let go of the past and recognize that every day won't be sunny. And when you find yourself lost in the darkness and despair, remember that it's only in the black of night that you see the stars. And those stars will lead you back home. So don't be afraid to make mistakes, to stumble and fall, because most of the time, the greatest rewards come from doing the things that scare you the most. Maybe you'll get everything you wished for. Maybe you'll get more than you ever could have imagined. Who knows where life will take you? The road is long, and in the end, the journey is the destination.
With Tired Eyes, Tired Minds, Tired Souls, We Slept [3.16]
[edit]- Jimmy: You're Abby Brown. What's my name?
- Abby: Jim?
- Jimmy: My full name.
- Abby: I don't know!
- Haley: Jimmy Edwards. You're Jimmy Edwards and you're a good guy. Holding seven kids hostage in the tutor center Jimmy? That's not like you!
- Jimmy: What's that in your pocket?
- Haley: [dialing 911 on her cell phone] Nothing.
- Jimmy: What is it?!
- Nathan: OK just stop pointing the gun at her, all right?
- Jimmy: Give me your cell phone. [sees that its connected to 911] Aw, Haley, I used to like you. Hello, 911? If anyone comes near the school, we start shooting kids.
- Mouth: It wasn't supposed to be this way. The artists, and the scientists, and the poets...none of them fit in at seventeen. You're supposed to get past it. Adults, they see kids killing kids and they know its a tragedy because they used to be those kids. The bullies and the beaten and the loners. You're supposed to get past it. You're supposed to live long enough to take it back. Just take it all back.
- Lucas: [voiceover] Does this darkness have a name? This cruelty, this hatred? How did it find us? Did it steal into our lives or did we seek it out and embrace it? What happened to us, that we now send our children out into the world like we send young men to war, hoping for their safe return but knowing that some will be lost along the way? When did we lose our way? Consumed by the shadows, swallowed whole by the darkness. Does this darkness have a name? Is it your name?
- Peyton: [After Lucas finds her, sobbing] Ow, my leg! I got cut by some glass. Lucas, I lost Brooke, I'm sorry.
- Lucas: She's fine, but- you're not. We gotta get you out of here.
- Peyton Sawyer: No- no I can't walk, I tried.
- Lucas Scott: Okay. [gets up]
- Peyton Sawyer: No! Don't leave me please, please!
- Lucas Scott: I'm just gonna go block the entrance, we'll just- just hide out, okay? Hey. I'm not leaving you Peyton.
- Peyton: You're always saving me.
- Lucas: Somebody has got to.
- Peyton: If I say "I love you," right now, will you hold it against me? 'Cause I've lost a lot of blood...come here.
- [they kiss]
Who Will Survive, and What Will Be Left of Them [3.17]
[edit]- Nathan: You know, my mom's coming home, she called.
- Haley: Well at least now you won't have to live alone in this big, giant house.
- Nathan: No, but she will. I want us to live together. I want to be your husband again Haley.
- Haley: That sounds so good to me. But I have a roommate named Brooke.
- Nathan: That doesn't matter.
- Haley: And our dream schools are 3,000 miles away.
- Nathan: Doesn't matter.
- Haley: And neither of us have jobs.
- Nathan: Doesn't matter. You know how long it took me to realize that? In the amount of time it takes to pull a trigger. I love you, Haley James, and that's all I need know. It doesn't mean its not gonna be hard. It doesn't mean its not going to be confusing. but whatever it is we'll face it together.
- Haley: You're quite charming. You know that.
- Nathan: You haven't even seen my A game
- Haley: Oh, Lord help me if that's true....Its Scott by the way... You called me Haley James. Haley James-Scott. And it always will be.
- Haley: Too bad it's not raining.
- Nathan: I think I can sort that out.
- [Nathan and Haley sitting in the middle of a football field. Sprinklers come on]
- Haley: Oh oh [giggles]
- Nathan: Well, you wanted rain.
- Haley: It is not possible to be this in love.
- [they kiss]
- Rachel: Nobody has all the answers, but we all have our why's. Like, why did this happen? Why didn't we see it coming? And why do people watch American Idol?
- Lucas: Do you think there's a heaven Skills?
- Skills: Do I think there's a heaven?
- Lucas: Ya, you know pearly gates, angels..
- Skills: I dunno about all that, maybe some chrome gates and some freaky angels. Naw, but I do think there's somethin' else out there, and I do think whatever we do in this world matters in the next.
- Lucas: You know before you came in I was thinking about Edwards, and how we could take Keith's life.
- Skills: Look he wasn't right dawg, Jimmy was sick.
- Lucas: So if that's true, is heaven the kind of place that'll hold that against someone? 'Cause if not Jimmy's a victim and right now, in your world beyond this one, Jimmy and Keith are in the same place, and I can't figure out what kind of place that would be.
- Skills: It's a place you and I wouldn't understand.
- Lucas: Or a place that doesn't exist.
- Lucas: Coach...
- Whitey: I know you want some answers, but what is the right answer? Because there is no answer, its just life.
When It Isn't Like It Should Be [3.18]
[edit]- Brooke: We're all gonna get our hope back Luke. It's just gonna take some of us longer than others, you know?
- [Playing I Never]
- Pete: I never had a cool weekend in the woods.
- Rachel: That's lame.
- Brooke: And that's rude.
- Rachel: Well I never got caught Brooking myself in the bedroom today.
- [Bevin takes a sip]
- Skills: Do you even know what that means?
- Bevin: Oh yeah, I Brooke myself all the time.
- Skills: She keeps talking like that, I might have to Brooke myself.
- Peyton: [Quoting a Fall Out Boy song to Pete] My pen is the barrel of a gun. Remind me which side you should be on.
I Slept With Someone In Fall Out Boy And All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me [3.19]
[edit]- Lucas: Coach, basketball has always been a huge part of who I am, and I've been thinking a lot about it; but, unless somebody can tell me why this game matters right now, I don’t think I can play.
- Whitey: You know, every time you take this court we come in under that old faded banner up there says, 'Home of the Monarchs.' Anyone know who the Monarchs were?
- Ravens player: The Monarchs were the best basketball team in the state, back in the fifties.
- Whitey: Yea, some people say they were. But, they were never in the record books because the Monarchs were an all black team. Back in those days, when I was your age, blacks and whites weren't allowed to play this game together. I was on the best team in the state, but we all knew there was another one, the Monarchs. One night both teams snuck in here, locked the doors, and squared off. They were good, oh they were damn good. We played four games. They got their shots, we got ours. Then, something magical happened. Something, that none of us could have anticipated. Something that had never happened in this state before. We decided to mix the teams. Their captain and our captain started picking players. As it turned out I was the next to the last one picked. And, their captain looked me in the eye and said 'I'll take Whitey.’' And, it stuck, that's how I got my nickname. That night changed all our lives. We were no longer black players or white players, we were just players. We shut out the world and played, together. We played a game that we loved and that night, that game changed everything. I haven't been the same since. You want me to tell you that this game matters. I promise you son, it does matter. Let the game heal you Lucas. Come back to us son.
- Cooper: For the drivers three weeks, for me it doesn't... I lost my ride.
- Lucas: What happened?
- Cooper: Well, for one thing I let my nephew crash a racecar into a wall. Then things got a little dark from there. You know, when they told me I couldn't drive, I thought my life was over. Racing was all that I had and was who I was. Then the next day, the sun came up and the world kept turning and I was gonna to be okay. It took me a while, but I finally realized that even if I never get to race again, I know I can be happy. Nathan told me about the game.
- Lucas: I'll get it back.
- Cooper: I hope you do. But, if for some reason you don't, it'll be okay. It's not what you do in life that matters Luke, it's about who you are.
- Whitey: Karen I know what you're going through. I lost the love of my life too.
- Karen: Yea, you had Camilla for a lifetime; I had Keith for a few weeks.
- Whitey: Whose fault was that? (Karen slaps him) I'm glad to see you’re still in there. Now, you listen to me. I said that because I know the guilt that you're caring around. And you’re wrong to feel it. Feeling guilty is not gonna bring Keith back.
- Karen: Don't I have a right to feel bad?
- Whitey: You know Lucas was so broken up he couldn't play the last game? No, I didn't think so. Look Karen, you gave Keith the thing that he loved most in all the world, Lucas. He was never happier than when he was talking about you and that boy. You gave him a son for a lifetime and you let him matter to Lucas. I know how that feels. Karen, you couldn’t have given him much more. Let the guilt fall away, let it go.
- Nathan: Father, can I ask you a question? When you decided you wanted to be a priest how did you know it was the right thing to do?
- Priest: I had a devout believe in God.
- Nathan: Can you prove that to us, with some sort of a test I mean?
- Priest: Of course not.
- Nathan: Just like you can't prove love with a test. I mean, this is just a score on a sheet of paper. Sure, Haley and I have our differences, but this test doesn't show how hard we’ve worked to keep this relationship together, or that I can’t stand it when we're apart, or that every time I look at her I know that I'm gonna be with her for the rest of my life. We love each other father, no test is going to show that.
- Larry Sawyer: [to Peyton] Just promise me one thing, promise me that when you pick the boy you're really going to be with, that he'll be someone who respects you and treats you well. And, it's someone who makes your heart race and that he's someone you love because of what he is, not what he does. Because, that's how I felt about your mother, and that’s how I want you to feel one day. Use your head and follow your heart.
Every Day is A Sunday Evening [3.20]
[edit]- Nathan: [voiceover] Life's funny sometimes and can push pretty hard, like when you fall in love with someone, but they forget to love you back. Like when your best friend and your boyfriend leave you alone. Like when you pull the trigger or light the flame and can't take it back.
- Nathan: [voiceover] Every once in a while people step up, they rise above themselves. Sometimes they surprise you, and sometimes they fall short. Life is funny sometimes, it can push pretty hard, but if you look close enough you find hope in the words of children, in the bars of a song and in the eyes of someone you love. And if you're lucky, and if you're the luckiest person on this entire planet, the person you love decides to love you back.
- Nathan: You know it's been said that we just don't recognize the significant moments of our lives while they are happening. We grow complacent with ideas, or things or people and we take them for granted and it's usually not until that thing is about to be taken away from you that you've realized how wrong you've been that you realized how much you need it, how much you love it. God, I love this game.
- Nathan: Stepping up. It's a simple concept. It basically means to rise above yourself; to do a little more, to show you're something special. Something like this.... Lucas is gone but that doesn't mean the season is over. As a matter of fact, I say it's just beginning. You might want to stay out of my way for a while.... Life's funny sometimes; can push pretty hard like when you fall in love with someone but they forget to love you back like when your best friend and your boyfriend leave you alone like when you pull the trigger or light the flame and you can't take it back. Like I said, in sports they call this 'stepping up'. In life, I call it pushing back.
- Brooke: [to Mouth] Welcome to the dark side my friend, deception for lunch, payback for dinner, and pie for breakfast.
Over The Hills And Far Away [3.21]
[edit]- Peyton: I love you Jake, I do, and you know that I love Jenny; so maybe that’s enough.
- Jake: I think that only in fairy tales that’s enough Peyton.
- Peyton: You know, someone told me once that there's nothing wrong with fairy tales, because everybody lives happily ever after.
- Jake: Okay, listen to me, you can't just fly into Savannah and then get into my head all over again, tell me you want to stay and then ask me to marry you.
- Peyton: Well, why not?
- Jake: Because, I might just say yes.
- Karen: You know, this trip wasn't just about finding you a school. It was about finding a way back.
- Lucas: To what?
- Karen: To a place where it's okay to dream again. You know, you walked away from basketball so that you could live a long life. What are you gonna do with that life. What's your next dream, Lucas?
- Lucas: Literature, you asked me about my future; if I could go to any college it would be to UNC to study literature.
- Karen: My son, the next great American author.
- Lucas: I don't know about that, ma.
- Karen: And, UNC would be your dream school?
- Lucas: Yea, sure, I mean if we had the money.
- Karen: Okay, listen to me. Before we left the lawyer who drew up the adoption papers called. He told me that ever since you were born Keith has been saving a fund for you for college. I didn't know about it myself. He dreamed your dream with you Lucas. And, if this is something that you really want then you have the grades, then you can have it. Because, Keith left it for you.
- Lucas: God, I miss him so much.
- Karen: He's always with you, always. You make him proud.
- Lucas: I will.
- Brooke: [intro to Naley Re-enactment] Once upon a time in a kingdom far, far away a girl and a boy fell in love. And then another girl, supposedly a friend, secretly taped how they fell in love and decided use it against them. So tonight I give you an authentic and very unauthorized reenactment of Nathan and Haley, a fairy tale.
- Brooke: Before we end the night I just want to say a few words about Nathan and Haley. I told them once, not too long ago to be happy because someday they'd make us all believe in true love. And, they do. In a few days they’re going to renew that love for all of us to see. But, in a way we see it every day. The only difference is that Haley will look fabulous in her dress by Clothes over Bros; which is kind of odd seeing as how she's marrying a bro. But, that's not the point, sorry. One rainy day Nathan Scott proposed to Haley James and the rest is a fairy tale, This is the last scene of the night...
- [Lucas as Nathan & Brooke as Haley]
- Lucas: I decided to go for a run and I ended up here, boy is it raining out.
- Brooke: I'm still mad at you Nathan Scott.
- Lucas: Haley please listen to me, I know I'm a porn freak.
- Brooke: Nathan, it's okay, I like my porn too. And, I Haley myself from time to time but I still need to know that you love me.
- Lucas: Someday I'm gonna marry you Haley James, someday.
The Show Must Go On [3.22]
[edit]- Lucas: [voiceover] At this moment there are six billion, five hundred and two million, eight hundred and sixty seven thousand, one hundred and twenty people in the world, give or take a few and sometimes all you need is one. For better or for worse.
- Nathan: [at the River Court] How long you been out here?
- Lucas: A couple of hours. Sometimes I come out here when I can't sleep.
- Nathan: Do you miss it?
- Lucas: Everyday! So what's up?
- Nathan: I had this messed up dream last night. Haley was drowning and I couldn't save her. Of course, leave it to Haley to insist that we don't see each other till the wedding, even though we're married. Maybe I should just go see her.
- Lucas: I'll tell you what, I'll go check on her how's that?
- Nathan: Tell her to stay away from the water, no swimming today.
- Lucas: Nathan, it's your wedding day, again, it's gonna be a great day.
- Lucas: Oh, I'm sorry Princess, I was looking for my friend Haley. [looks at tables filled with beauty and hair products] Wow, did it really take all this stuff to make you look like this?
- Haley: No, everybody got ready in here. Including Rachel and Brooke, for some reason.
- Lucas: Wow! You look, whew, really beautiful. So, your parents really aren't coming.
- Haley: No, they, I invited them and they said, 'Sorry honey we've been to your wedding once before and it was a little boring.' Anyway, I'll just, I'll just give myself away. It's fine.
- Lucas: Or I could do it. If you'll have me.
- Haley: Really? Luke that would be perfect. Thank you.
- Lucas: But, you know what, I got to be honest with you. Um, I could never officially give you away. You know that? I could never give away my best friend.
- Brooke: (To Peyton) I had a horrible dream last night where my best friend told me that she had feelings for my boyfriend. But; that wasn't a dream, wasn't it?
- Peyton: Brooke!
- Brooke: Why now, Peyton? Why would you tell me that you have feelings for Lucas now, when I have so much going on in my life? Stuff you don't even know about!
- Peyton: Well, so do I. Okay, trust me. But, I didn't wish for this alright, I wished for Jake.
- Brooke: Oh, right. You wished for Jake. After you wished for Pete, and then Lucas! I cannot believe this is happening again.
- Peyton: It's not okay, okay? It's not! The last time...
- Brooke: The last time! Do you hear yourself right now? The last time you tried to steal my boyfriend! He's on the door Peyton! He's on the DAMN DOOR UNDER ME!
- Peyton: I don't wanna steal him, okay?
- Brooke: But you like him.
- Peyton: Brooke, I'm not gonna do anything about it. I'll just bury it. Okay?
- Brooke: You can't, okay! It's out, it's like the time capsule! And, you could have buried it and not said anything to me about it. So, what is that about?
- Peyton: I don't- I just wanted to be honest with you, all right! I didn't wanna make the same mistake as I did last time. And, you even said last night at TRIC that you really didn't miss him.
- Brooke: ( With that said, Brooke flies off the handle and slaps Peyton in the face) Don't you dare! Don't you dare twist my words around to make yourself feel like you are not a back-stabbing two faced bitch, Peyton, because you are and you know it.
- Peyton: Fine. So, this is how it ends. A ten year friendship that survived two dead moms, three absentee parents, shoplifting, jail time and we can’t survive one boy.
- Brooke: Not one boy. My boy!
- ...
- Brooke: I want you to understand something, as far as I'm concerned this friendship is over. And, if we never speak again for the rest of our lives, that'll be fine. I gave you a second chance Peyton and you blew it.
- Lucas: I need you to trust me and believe me when I tell you that my heart is with you. Part of me feels like ever since we got back together you’ve been waiting, waiting to push me away.
- Brooke: Oh great, so you kiss Peyton, again, and I'm pushing you away!?
- Lucas: I love you Brooke, I don't know how else to say it.
- Brooke: How about how you show it? I'm not pushing you away Lucas. I am holding on for dear life, but I need you to need me back. Okay, why wouldn't you tell me about the kiss and why didn't you call me while you were away and why won't you ever just let me all the way in? We have to go give our toasts now, about love.
- Lucas: [voiceover] William Shakespeare wrote: "Love is not love which alters when it alteration finds. It is an ever-fixed mark that looks on tempests and is never shaken. Love alters not with time's brief hours and weeks, but bears it out, even to the edge of doom."
