Cleanup needed

[edit]

I was surprised to see a posting on the user talk page of the creator of this page about Lia Wälti which criticized the page saying that it needed cleanup. I personally thought the page was looking quite good for a new page just created: Lia Wälti has an enwp article, several quotes are included and even some categories. The only important thing missing is the "living person" category.

Opinions? Ottawahitech (talk) 15:29, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Go back and read the post again - I wrote that I had already cleaned it up and suggested using it as a model for cleaning up other pages that the user had created. This user (and others) have been creating a lot of pages as part of the SheSaid movement - which is great - but most of them require some level of cleanup. There's just too many to keep up with, so I've been tagging most of them as needing cleanup. But, as I said, I pointed to this page as an example of what is needed. ~ UDScott (talk) 15:55, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
@UDScott Thank you for keeping an eye not only on pages in the wq:mainspace, but also on wq:talkpages and other wq pages. I am sorry to burden you with a question:
(One of?) the change(s) you made to the Quotes section was to move the sourcing part to a heading, which I do not agree with, and don't believe that this is an agreed upon practice at wq. My question is why do you feel newbies should follow this practice? Ottawahitech (talk) 00:45, 1 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
I'm not sure exactly which edit you are referring to, but if I had to guess I have been gathering multiple quotes from a single source into subsections - the alternative would be to list the source under each quote, but I think the subsections look better. In doing so, I usually just put the headline and the year in the subsection heading, then list the full source under the heading. Is this what you are questioning? If not, can you provide a specific example? ~ UDScott (talk) 03:26, 5 December 2023 (UTC)Reply
