Illustrations

[edit]
Suggestions for illustrating the page.

Firmament

[edit]
Diagram of the ancient Hebrew worldview, from the book Astronomy in the Old Testament by Giovanni Schiaparelli. The Bosom of Abraham is indicated by the letter P, and Gehinnom by the letter Q.

Moved here as one illustration on the topic should be enough. BurningLibrary (talk) 12:01, 31 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Bereshit

[edit]
The De Castro Pentateuch With Haftarot (portions from the Prophets) and Five Scrolls

Sourcing

[edit]

Billinghurst: In this edit, you removed the sourcing for a great many translations. What is the rationale for this? There is no edit summary. As it stands now, a lot of quotes have no sourcing at all.

Update. I have reverted your edit. If you believe the quotes do not belong, that is a separate discussion, but simply removing sourcing and leaving behind unsourced quotes is not the way to go. BurningLibrary (talk) 13:46, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

A search link is not a citation as it is not a stable source, please properly cite sources. If you need to learn about proper citation there is plenty of good information on the wikipedias. — billinghurst sDrewth 22:31, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
That is simply the interface of Bible Gateway. Its URLs look like that. For example, if you use the "Bible Book List" menu to navigate to a particular chapter of the Bible, all the URLs are on the same form (e.g., http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Genesis%201&version=KJV for Genesis 1).
For instance, here a link to the King James Version: http://www.biblegateway.com/versions/King-James-Version-KJV-Bible/#booklist. And if you follow any link on that page to any part of the Bible, the URL format is always the same.
Or you can click on the "Share" icon below the "Bible Book List" link, which opens a menu for sharing a particular verse on Twitter, Facebook and e-mail. The URL format is same here as well.
In short, this is simply how the website is designed. There is no other way to link to Bible Gateway. BurningLibrary (talk) 23:09, 1 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
