Spring
[edit]- Benni: [Narrating]
- Thowra: Greetings, noble Father.
- Yarraman: My son.
To Catch a Brumby
[edit]- Benni: [Narrating] The creatures of the High Country look after their own. When Thowra found the young foal Yooralla separated from his mother and quite lost he took him into his herd and treated him like a son or a younger brother. As did Boon Boon and the other of the herd accepted him as one of them. Yooralla admired and love Thowra very much and was keen to learn from him the ways of the High Country. So Thowra taught the foal how to read the wind how listen to the advice of the bush. How to avoid danger and how to leave no trace. Of course it's not easy to pick everything up at once.
- Charlie: The Silver Brumby!
- Thowra: Boon Boon!
- Benni: [Narrating] But not only had Boon Boon been caught by man. She had also been taken a long way from her beloved High Country. Thowra had been quick to respond to his best friend's right but saving Boon Boon was not going to be a simple task.
Swimming to Safety
[edit]- Benni: [Narrating] Safety cannot be taken for granted in the High Country as Boon Boon and Yooralla found out. When he heard of Boon Boon's capture Thowra wasted no time in trying to find her. His search led him down to the plains and after finding Boon Boon and scaring the living daylights out of young Charlie who was convinced he had just seen the ghost horse's grandfather the Old Prospector had spoken of.
- Charlie: The Silver Brumby!
- Benni: [Narrating] Thowra wisely retreated to a nearby stand of trees to await the coming of night before he decided on a rescue plan.
- Thowra: Boon Boon, let's go!
- [Boon Boon gulping off and Thowra gulping off as Charlie and Don looks the two brumbies off back to the mountains]
- Currawong: Hey! Wait for me!
- Charlie: But I had to she was so lonely she’s a wild brumby, Dad.
- Don: [angrily] I’m sick of this, Charlie. No more discussion you’ve lost us a lot of money.
- Charlie: It was worth it. You’ll see.
- Don: No I won’t, Charlie. They’re long gone and with no chance of finding them. You can go to bed without any supper. Now!
- Eee and Mu: [gasps] Thowra and Boon Boon! We must tell everyone!
- Benni: [Narrating] So Arrow finally came good and showed he could be brave. Even if he had to be forced into it. As for Boon Boon it would take her some time to get over her experiences with Charlie's father. But the whole adventure made Thowra more convinced that the herd had to find a safer home but where.
A Leap into Legend
[edit]- Thowra: Boon Boon, are you all right?
- Boon Boon: Yes I'm all right.
- Benni: [Narrating] It's strange how even things you are used to can scare you. When you're in the mood to be scared. And after what Boon Boon had gone through when captured by Charlie's father she was still very wey.
- Thowra: It's okay, Boon Boon. It's okay. Nothing to worry about.
- Benni: [Narrating] If you don't confront your fears or find a way of beating them they can stay with you for a long time. Thowra knew this which was why he was so worried about Boon Boon and why he was searching for a safe haven like anywhere the High Country was full of things that could frighten you if you let them.
- The Man: Why would he do that? Why jump it's certain death.
- Benni: [Narrating] So Thowra and the others had found their secret valley and they had their new secret. That ghost horse was not really a ghost it was their secret their protection they would not tell a soul. But the time would soon come that there were others who had to be let in on the secret.
Charlie Heads for the Mountains
[edit]- Benni: [Narrating] It's funny thing about doing something good or something kind. You do it because it feels right. If it's proper. It's not so much what's expected but what you what to do.
- Charlie: Snowy, come back! Oh, no.
- Don: Charlie! You've done a good job, son. Charlie? Charlie? Charlie! Charlie! Stupid kid. No sign of Snowy you're no sign of him. Prizes for guessing where he's gone. That damn grandfather of his is a bad influence. Well he didn't think he get away with it I told him not to go, I catch up with him. [but then Snowy came back] Snowy! What happened, Snowy? Where is he? Something spooked you. Did you throw him? Is he hurt? Damn kid.
- Prospector: Charlie! Is that you? Are you alright?
- Charlie: Oh, Granddad, you found me. Hurry please I don’t think I can hang on mush longer.
- Prospector: It’s okay, Charlie. Don’t panic. We’ll get you out of this mess.
- Charlie: Thanks, Granddad.
- Prospector: Oh don't thank me, Charlie. Thanked for that Silver Brumby.
- [Inside the Prospector's hut Charlie sitting on the chair and the Prospector puts a bandage on his hand]
- Don: I so worried, Charlie. When Snowy came back...
- Prospector: Yeah, yeah, now let the boy alone. And don't bother ticking him off about coming up here he knows it was stupid and he said punishment enough.
- Don: But I wasn't going...
- Prospector: Maybe not. But I reckon he's learn more by himself today then you and I have told him since he was born and in my case... That's quite a lot. Sugar.
- Don: [sighs] Don't you go spoiling him while he's up here. And he has to be back in seven days right. We've still got firewood to cut. And to make sure I'll come and get him and teach him the proper way to come next time.
- Benni: [Narrating] So Charlie's good deed was returned by the creatures of the High Country. But as it often is with good friends it would not be long before Charlie was to help out again. The nice thing about favors is that you can keep doing.
