Add topicElectronic games
[edit]Question: I started the section on Garrett, the guy from the Thief video game series. but i also have some quotes from the video game itself, as in from mission movies. they're not really said by anyone. well, they are, but there are about 20 quotes and 10 'authors', and i'd rather put them all on one page if possible, but there isn't a video game section, so i don't really know where to put them. example:
- "Reliance upon others
Is weakness for the strong
But strength for the weak." -Chronicle of the Metal Age
- I have started a slot for "Electronic Games" on the List of categories page that might be an appropriate place to list any Video games which have any interesting or amusing quotes. I personally would recommend not starting seperate pages for characters within such games. The one that you created could be moved to a page entitled "Thief", or "Thief (game)" if that is the actual title of the game in question, and seperate sections could then be added for the different characters. —Kalki 06:28, 22 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- I can see what you mean, but he's the main character in the game, and really the only one worth quoting. but that could be different for other games. as for moving, i have no idea how to, but that would be fine by me. i could do thief under electrionic games, then sections in it for garrett and misc, i guess. -sasha-
- If Thief is the name of the Game or Game series you want to create a page for I can move the Garret page to either Thief, Thief (game) or Thief (games), whichever you think would be the best. — Kalki 19:41, 22 Feb 2004 (UTC)
- fine by me. will do. -sasha-
Getting an admin's attention
[edit]sorry but i don't know how else to get an admin's attention. i've tried other ways but i'm hoping at least this method works. what am i supposed to do if i come accross a page that doesn't seem to belong (ie, no quotes, just rubbish, etc.)? examples would be Edgar Rice Burroughs and Peter M. Senge (recently created). then there is the "Latin proverbs/" page that isn't part of the other Latin proverbs... those are just a few that i've noticed recently. -sasha, 20050320 @ 0307 UTC
You could always leave a message on an admin's talk page for immediate attention—we won't bite (usually)—or the Village Pump (where sometimes, I admit, it might get overlooked fror a while).
About your questions— there is no official policy or recommendations that have been developed here yet. There are a number of options that people have used:
Some have marked them for deletion with {{delete}} tags, which can be appropriate when an article page is clearly vandalism, or a page for a non famous person; marked them with {{vfd}} "votes for deletion" which might be more appropriate when it seems possible that there could be a legitimate case made for retaining a page; or marked them with {{stub}} notices.
I think a page with quotes but no further info or links is what clearly qualifies as a stub on Wikiquote, and a page with info and/or links, and no quotes, or no significant info at all, as a sub-stub.
If I have some time available and encounter a page like Edgar Rice Burroughs, I prefer to seek out legitimate quotes, doing a google search for Edgar Rice Burroughs quotes for a "quick fix" of quotes available, sort through them, organize them, and then go to the Wikipedia article for legitimate summary info for the header, (and sometimes for a few quotes, and external links as well). It is obvious that I wouldn't normally like encountering too many of these stub or sub-stub pages. They can easily take anywhere from 15 minutes, to several hours to work on (with the distractions that can easily arise as you trace down information, quotes, and consider the options available).
I would recommend doing a google search in the case of someone unfamiliar, and in the case of Peter M. Senge, who I was not familiar with, it seems his fame is legitimately established as an author and lecturer, and significant quotes by him could prbably be sought. I might have some time to do a bit of searching for quotes by him today, and I might not. I will put him on my list of things to attend to soon though. As I have noted elsewhere, I generally prefer to develop a potentially legitimate page, rather than delete it. ~ Kalki
- About the "Latin proverbs" someone else had recently pointed out that problem, and I will probably deal with it by merging any significant quotes to the correct page, and deleting the incorrect page today. ~ Kalki 18:03, 20 Mar 2005 (UTC)
- I was cleaning up some articles, and I noticed your addition to the Peter Senge article. I've added some structure, moved it to this new title to correspond with the Wikipedia article, and removed it from the speedy-deletion list. ("Peter M. Senge" now redirects there, so there won't be any problem finding him.)
- As far as getting admins' attention, Kalki has been carrying most of the maintenance burden solo for a while now, but we've just added three admins. We're busily trying to catch up on the backlog, so hopefully we will be able to respond more quickly to notes posted on Village Pump or on our Talk pages. — Jeff Q (talk) 04:43, 4 Apr 2005 (UTC)
Sasha, do you mind me to diswikify your link to "[[Latin proverbs/]]" ? It was created again by an anon and have a link to your user talk ... --Aphaia 19:45, 2 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Um, not sure what you mean, but if you meant remove the link from my user talk, i'll do it. if it's something else, go for it. -sasha, 20050604 @ 0150 UTC

Hugh Hewitt
[edit]I have added a "{{prod}}" template to the article Hugh Hewitt, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but it may not satisfy Wikiquote's criteria for inclusion, for the reasons given in the deletion notice (see also "What Wikiquote is not" and Wikiquote's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Votes for deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Your account will be renamed
[edit]Hello,
The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.
Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Sasha. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Sasha~enwikiquote that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.
Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
Yours,
Keegan Peterzell
