Rebuilding the page

[edit]

This page suffers from a number of issues, one being that it is extremely violent. Another is that the "Quotes about …" section is rather sparse and could benefit from the inclusion of more perspectives.

Here follows an attempt to rebuild the page. As always, the task is to go about it in a systematic way, documenting one's changes in the process.

To begin with, all quotes and images have been moved to the talk page so that previous work is not lost.

The number of categories have been trimmed by only considering categories that can be cross-referenced with existing Wikiquote and Wikipedia pages. As for the quotes themselves, preference is given to passages that use the original term (e.g., "tree of Zaqqum" over "cursed tree").

The problem of violence is difficult since the topic is what it is, but an attempt has been made to list less violent passages first. It may also prove helpful to move difficult subjects to their own pages.

The task of illustrating the page is similarly challenging, and it would be well to look for gentler images if possible. For the time being, all illustrations have been moved to the talk page.

On a final note, it would be good to have more quotes in the "Quotes about …" section, but collecting quality quotes takes time. This, then, has to be considered a work in progress. BurningLibrary (talk) 14:18, 9 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
