This article falls within a proposed limits on quotations policy. The subject of this article is a film, and as a result, the proposal would set a limitation of five quotes per hour (about one quote every 12 minutes). If you would like to add another quote to the page, you should consider whether to remove one that is already there in order to keep within the bounds of fair use of copyright material. For reference, the length of this work is: 132 minutes.

Trimming

Shouldn't this page be trimmed already? I can't remove the Checkcopyright template if this page is not trimmed.(StarWarsFanBoy 22:06, 28 November 2009 (UTC))

Because if I trim the page I might trim it into having no notable or Memorial Quotes on the page. Besides I don't know what quote is notable or Memorial.(StarWarsFanBoy 00:20, 29 November 2009 (UTC))

Seriously? You added the NOOOO part?

I've removed the spurious 'NOOOO' from the dialogue, because it wasn't present in the 1983 film from which this wikiquote page purports to show quotes. I double checked on my own VHS copy of Return of the Jedi, and there isn't any 'noooo' in that scene. Instead, it appears only in an alternative ending released by George Lucas some decades after the original film.

This film is a classic, and has TONS of great and memorable quotes

"If a page is considered by an editor to have an unusually large number of memorable quotes (e.g., some movie classics), an appeal can be made to the community to allow an exception to the guidelines. A forum will be created for editors to make the case for a quote or an article which exceeds the limits for number or length of quotations. Each discussion will be limited to a standard time and will be decided by community consensus. Articles will be tagged to inform readers when a discussion is taking place." - A forum will be created? Has this already happened?

"The standard for good quotations is that they are memorable, significant, well-expressed and concise. See Wikiquote:Quotability for a guideline to the selection of quotations." - There are MANY quotations/sections of dialogue from this film that fit this description.

Here are some quotability factors applicable to the film, from "Wikiquote: Quotability": "Is the quote particularly witty, pithy, wise, eloquent, or poignant?" - Yes! "Is the quote independently well known (as with proverbs and certain well-reported comments)?" - Yes!

I think the Star Wars movies' Wikiquote pages should resemble those of Monty Python and the Holy Grail and The Princess Bride (film) in terms of quotable portions of the film with great renown. Just my $0.02.

I previously wrote in an edit summary: How has "It's a trap!" not been on this list?! and how are there no other single-character quotes worth grouping together outside of key dialogue?

Eaglestorm, I think you should loosen the reins a bit on the "11 quotes only for 132 minutes" stance.

Oh and do with this the same horseshit you pressed on with one of the movies you mentioned? I'm sorry that's not the way we do things around here, inspite of your rather emotionally charged rant that only shows your inability to understand copyvio. refer to the above headers. If you can't hack the rules, get out. You do not want to push the issue, or those articles you painstakingly bloated under the guise of longwinded edit summaries will be nuked for LOQ as well. I don't know how I missed your gem of a reply, but good grief...take a moment to acknowledge my specific claim and maybe don't be so rude? "It's a trap!" is a classic quote, especially because people who state it often do so in an Ackbar voice!

I'll let you have the last word, because I think you probably prefer it that way. But maybe go easy on loquacious-in-edit-summaries-and-talk-pages editors like me? It's not like I dropped all this in the quote page itself. I was just trying to defend the "It's a trap!" entry, and you launched into a "don't like it, get out" rant that I say minimizes the worthy exception to the guidelines that the OT Star Wars films merit.

Content dispute

@DawgDeputy: @Koavf: DawgDeputy, I think the IT’S A TRAP line is one of the most famous lines in Star Wars. The LOQ page explicitly states exceptions can be made for films with many iconic quotes.
