Usage

[edit]

{{subst:Prod|REASON}}

Replace "REASON" with a brief statement of the reason you believe the page should be deleted. If necessary, give a longer explanation on the article's talk page. If the reason include an equal sign (=) use {{subst:Prod|1=REASON}} instead. Other special characters and tags can be included using {{subst:Prod|<nowiki>REASON</nowiki>}}.

If the {{prod}} is removed for any reason short of outright vandalism, do not restore it! A contested prod can either be sent to Votes for Deletion or left alone. Prodding is only for uncontested deletions.

Template:Prod is only for articles, not for templates, user pages, and other namespaces. To mark erroneously created pages only edited by one author and requested for deletion by the same author use Template:Delete.

Error with display

[edit]

I added the template to a page for the first time, and I noticed a display problem. I end up with a portion of the prod description reading as:

"If this template is removed, it should not be replaced. {{#if: 24 |The article may be deleted if this message remains in place for seven days. This template was added 2007-09-24 16:13; seven days from then is 2007-10-01 16:13. |The article may be deleted if this message remains in place for seven days. Please check the history to see when this template was added."

Notice that {{#if appears in there, and some text seems duplicated. I also noticed this with another page prod'd today. —LrdChaos (talk) 16:16, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

@LrdChaos: Hopefully fixed in this revision, but since these templates are heavily imported from Wikipedia, they're likely to be riddled with bugs specific to this wiki's functioning that I haven't found yet. As to fixing the rest of them, they're not very high on my to-do list, I'm afraid, but feel free to report any more errors you might find to either here or Village pump.
