update on this sockpuppeteer Wiki-star and Taracka

I have just received an e-mail by another one of his sockpuppets, Prince Zarbon. He said he will keep making accounts to impersonate me. Just look at the Prince Zarbon userpage and you will see a porn site at the bottom. He told me this in the e-mail. I have deleted it. I must warn you that if one of the 24.123... ips, 149.54... ips and 219.344... ips say that they are Zarbon and Recoome please dont listen to that trash. It is clear that they are sockpuppets of Wiki-star and Taracka. I just remembered, User:Poetic Decay was mentioned in the e-mail and this sockpuppteer Wiki-star says that he has something to tell Jeffq about us three. Zarbon 03:58, 1 July 2007

The above post actually came from NoUcan't. You can safely ignore this troll. Whether or not he's actually Zarbon, I've indefinitely blocked him not only for sockpuppetry but also trolling and harrassment (not to mention another Zarbon-like appropriation of my name to cudgel other editors). ~ Jeff Q (talk) 14:37, 1 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Sweet tartersauce! Please listen to me.

Okay, I will confess. Its me Zarbon. I admit to making several wiki-star sockpuppets, but only because I wanted him banned. This sock war, anime bloodbath, etc. is over. I am a person of their words and I don't fib. Please cancel all this CheckUser nonsense. I have just got an e-mail by Taracka saying he will stop. I hope it is true and not a lie. Poetic Decay is a sockpuppet of someone. Just look at his contributions. If he doesnt stop then you may ban him, ONLY HIM. Now I ask for the last time unblock User:Zarbon and User:Recoome and leave everything else blocked. Dont ban this account. Ban Poetic too for being a meatpuppet at least. There you have my confession. Jeffq if you ignore this and ban this account, I will seriously seek revenge. I have been trying to edit the sopranos and dbz pages for weeks and almost every time I get banned! Enough is enough jeffq. This is your last warning. I am using another one of my friends computers in New Zealand not New York. Get rid of the CheckUser and forget everything, or I will create 50 sockpuppets to attack you, like Taraka just told me in the email. I have had enough of you arrogating sysop actions. Now you heard my advice, take it or leave it. It is you who will suffer the consequences! Uglyguy2006 14:41, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Why do you keep deleting Joe Ocampo??

What is the required interest count for a post to stay on the site? Does it have to be a famous person? I've added a quote that I thought all software developers who have had a manager might enjoy and you keep removing it. May I ask why? I know your reason states "Not significant". Define significant please. From the definition of WikiQuote: "...whether the authors are famous or infamous,.." You just left me a message on my page stating you deleted the page because it doesn't meet the notability requirements. Where are these requirements? JMeridth 20:27, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please refer to Wikiquote:Wikiquote, where it explains that quotes should be from notable people or works. As I said before, feel free to use the quote on your user page, but we try to limit things on here to quotes from notable people. ~ UDScott 20:40, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply
I stand corrected. Thank you for the update. I'll admit, you're the man when it comes to monitoring this site. ~ JMeridth 21:12, 3 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

helpful

This small tag on the jaws discussion page will prove very helpful thanks --McNoddy 15:07, 6 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you! :)

Thanks a lot, dear Scott! :) In fact, I was planning to message you asap, because through your careful doublecheck and corrections to my modest contributuons, I have learned much about WQ formatting and style. I'll proceed to add all the new entries to that list, as you suggest - once again, thank you for your help :) Have a beautiful day! Love, Phaedriel - 20:05, 16 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

A tiny request for your input

Hi there! :) In the last couple of days, I've worked on several authors who were/are noted essayists; and seeing we currently have categories for authors who have dedicated themselves to other literary styles (i.e. Novelists, Short story writers, or Poets), I've been thinking about creating Category:Essayists. I know, be bold and all that ;) but being a relative newcomer to WQ, I thought it'd be better to ask an experienced user like you before taking steps in this direction. Thank you, dear Scott! :) Phaedriel - 23:13, 18 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I think it is a great idea - and one that I have fleetingly considered whenever I have come across an essayist (but of course never put into place). I'll keep my eye out for people to add to that category. Thanks again for your recent prolific work. Great job! ~ UDScott 11:50, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

No problemo! :)

No problem at all, dear Scott :) I edit conflicted with, as a matter of fact! :) Still, I added more categories and external links to it; I've also located several more quotes that I'll add in shortly. Great job! :)
Btw, thanks for the kind words regarding the idea fo creating taht Category; I'll get to work on it asap, and please feel free to add it to any entries you come accross. Thank you! :) Have a beautiful day, Phaedriel - 12:30, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Will do, dear! :) I guess I just typed the all manually in haste... *tsk tsk* ;) Love, Phaedriel - 12:35, 19 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Gosh, you're fast!

Wow, you're so fast, dear Scott! :) I was just about to correct my omission - but you beat me to it... again! ;) Hope you're having a beautiful Summer over there. :) Love, Phaedriel - 20:06, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

I thought you would probably fix it, but I was there so I went ahead. :-) Thanks again for your continuing high level of additions. You've added a lot of new good pages lately. My summer is going quite well - hope yours is as well. ~ UDScott 20:12, 26 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Stephen Fry Page Clean-Up

Hi! After I made changes to the Stephen Fry page I noticed you added a clean-up notice. I'm relatively new to Wikiquote so I wasn't as familiar with the page standards. I've made more changes, and I tried to make it conform to the template for quotes from people as much as possible. I still left up the clean-up notice in case I didn't catch everything. If you have time, could you check the page and let me know if it's in correct form, or if I need to make more changes? Like I said, I'm pretty new to this, and your help would be really appreciated.
Soylamorsa 22:37, 28 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

You were actually quite close with it. I made a couple of minor adjustments (moving the material from his autobiography as a sub section of 'Sourced', adding a couple of categories and the DEFAULTSORT). I've removed the cleanup tag and I think the page looks good now. Thanks for your work. ~ UDScott 13:28, 30 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Well done. We ought to have barnstars. really it's amazing he didn't have an article already; I'm making a search for other major omissions.--Poetlister 16:44, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Short vacation

I will be away from my computer for the next 10 days, so any editing I am able to perform will be spotty at best. ~ UDScott 21:26, 3 August 2007 (UTC)Reply
I'm back online after a nice restful week off and ready to resume work on WQ. ~ UDScott 15:00, 13 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

DVD commentaries

Hi. New here. I’ve been looking for an answer to this and maybe it’s a new thing. But if a quote comes from a DVD commentary where should it go? On the movie or TV page or the person who actually said it? At which point it would be a bit out of context. I’m thinking of the 48 hours of Lord of the Rings commentaries with lots of good stuff. Would it be possible to create some sort of sub category for commentaries?

Oops, sorry

No need to be sorry. I'm glad not to have to nominate another of his pages for deletion. I fixed his Harry Dean Stanton page the same way. As for his "learning", I have the feeling he's not reading our helpful notes. He may not even be noticing the fate of his pages. --Ubiquity 15:45, 18 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Dear Scott

How are you, dear Scott? It's great to see you again, after our breaks (tho mine was quite longer! :) Love, Phaedriel - 00:29, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thank you, Phaedriel - I am well, although a bit more tired these days after welcoming my son into the world. It's good to see you active again as well! Welcome back as well. ~ UDScott 13:38, 19 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

0waldo, the supreme alien vandal inscribes

Ewe Dee: you are a miniscule runt that reads comic books. Moreover, you have no claim to fame whatsoever other than being a pizzop here at ickyquote; I hate to disappoint you bud but that ain’t even enough to rumble guts about. EwDee: Oh! I’m going to ban him and delete that page! Look! He did it again! “hello operator, I have a vandal engauged in voting fraud on the line; even as we speak he is spraying my hard-drive with letters and symbols; his ip address is bla.bla.blib.blab….” and our policy here is not to discriminate because we are a 501(c)3 organization but we are discriminating... I’m going to ban him ad infinitum, better yet; I’ll just block his IP address, I’ll show him. Nice try UouDee; block the ip address – one simply powers off the cable modem, waits a bit for DHCP to renew and refresh, then boom! A fresh hot burr for your saddle, aka a new IP address. Seriously: u.Duuuh, the absolute best you can hope for is that I get bored with my effervescent chastisement of you, your minuscule mentality/pissop antics and just go away.

Hold that thought, UD and read on:

Q. Why is it that chinx cannot have white babies? A. Because two wongs dont make a white!

Hoshi no hate me?

That sub tital above was corny I know but anyway What did it do? What did I do wrong?--Saikano II 17:16, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

  • It's not that you did something wrong, it is that the page is for something that (as you wrote in the intro) is not even released yet. As such, it shouldn;t even have a page yet. ~ UDScott 19:46, 28 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
    • what do you expect me to do? Force Mr.Daughtry to speed it up? I can get some papers from him w/ Dialoage on it but thats as much as I can do for now! If it helps the site is currently being worked on!--Saikano II 15:24, 2 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hammurabi stub tag

Is it necessary to have a stub tag for this article? My impression is that this is one of those cases where the author said a very few things, but that those are highly important to report in any collection of quotes. There is just not much else (unless we want to consider including the a much large selection of the Code of Hammurabi, which I would be duplicative of WikiSource). Cheers! BD2412 T 21:09, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

You are probably right on this one (and this is often true of ancient people or documents, etc.). I've looked myself for more to add to the page, and you are right that it appears all that could be added would be more of the Code, which would just be repeating what is already at Wikisource. I'll remove the tag. Thanks. ~ UDScott 15:40, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I suppose there may be quoteworthy quotes about Hammurabi - I'll see if I can find a few. BD2412 T 16:01, 19 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Spinning user

Apologies (in a sense) I already blocked them. That sort of attack I find quite unacceptable (if you feel I was wrong you may always revert me), regards --Herby talk thyme 13:28, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

No, you were quite right in doing so. For some odd reason, I felt more patience than usual with this type of behavior. I was already prepared to block him with the next wave, which I am sure was forthcoming. Thanks for stepping in! ~ UDScott 13:33, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
It is always hard when you are involved yourself. I've just blocked a puppet account (I imagine) too, regards --Herby talk thyme 13:35, 31 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

70.90.107.65

Sorry about just sticking this notice here, but 70.90.107.65 currently belongs to a public high school. It might be a good idea to at least temporarily ban editing from it, since there are a lot of immature teenagers here. —This unsigned comment is by 70.90.107.65 (talkcontribs) .

Should vandalism continue, that action will likely be taken. But for now, I don't see the need to block this IP just yet. ~ UDScott 17:42, 1 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello, UDScott, A little help would be nice

Hello. Recently, Aphaia asked me to join wikiquote under a username. Well, I had a username, Zarbon, until I was very wrongfully banned for "arrogating sysop actions", which basically means I was telling other admins about other users who were vandalizing pages. I have been trying to get unbanned since last summer. I don't know, the admins here have been ignoring me heavily. I don't want to open another username, I'd much prefer if my original username, Zarbon were allowed to be unbanned. If anything, I'm sure you can unban me. Anyway, you can see I am contributing to wikiquote as always and will continue doing so but I'd much prefer to be doing it with my original username. I don't want to have more than one username, I'd prefer to do all my activity under one name. Please, if possible, unban me so I can continue editing with my original username. It's been a very long time now since my username was blocked. I await your response. - 72.229.48.178 23:32, 26 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello again UDScott, see this is what I'm talking about. You can see my contibutions now. I told Aphaia as well. I'm being ignored since last summer. I get absolutely no response from anyone here. Please let me know if its possible for me to be unbanned and continue to contribute with my original name, Zarbon. - 72.229.48.178 22:49, 30 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Scream

I didn't remove your original stub tag on Scream by accident, I really thought it wasn't stubby anymore. For an average length feature, what's your ballpark threshold of quotes for destubification? --Ubiquity 18:11, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

And I did not mean to imply that you had just fixed it and run! I just thought, having seen the film, that that there were many more quotable lines to be found. Any film that only has two sets of dialogue looks to me to be still a stub - although I admit there's no hard and fast rule for how much should be there to allow removal of the stub tag. I may even return when I have a chance to add more to the page. ~ UDScott 18:18, 17 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
