Quote selection

I see a lot of quotations from 2019, usually from Twitter. I've not even read them yet, to avoid being influenced by my opinions, but I don't envy whoever did that job. I would have a hard time using objective criteria or secondary sources to pick Twitter tweets. If you found the magic recipe to do it, please share! Nemo 08:01, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

@Nemo bis: Yes, that's why we should not be using Wikiquote as an outlet to reprint someone's twitter feed. If a tweet is reprinted in a reliable secondary source, then we should cite it using that source and not primary links to social media. GMG^talk 11:29, 26 February 2020 (UTC)

I actually believe that direct quotes of twitter feeds, though often excessively used, should be provided as "primary sourcing" of statements, but can certainly agree this should usually be in conjunction with at least one additional secondary source mention of such statements, provided in the interlinear information lines. ~ ♞☤☮♌︎Kalki·⚚⚓︎⊙☳☶⚡ 13:07, 27 February 2020 (UTC)

Yes, me too. If the quote comes from the twitter feed of a notable individual such as Trump, I see no problem in including the quote, I think Ottawahitech (talk) 19:10, 2 November 2023 (UTC)
