Repeat Vandalism

[edit]

There have been numerous instances of an anonymous user vandalizing this page. They have generally used a different IP address every time, although sometimes parts of the addresses are similar. I cannot say as a complete certainty that it is the same person, but they have been making the same change to the page every single time, reverting it to a past version of the page where the quotes displayed are over the LOQ limit, and the only captioned image of Arnold Vosloo, with the words "The creature will suck them dry and become whole again." Every so often whoever this is comes back to revert the page to how they want it, but now that I am paying closer attention, reverting the vandalism is easy enough. The vandal has come back more often here in late 2022, no doubt because I have been undoing the damage more often. I will continue to monitor.

Of note is the fact that there is a trend of this anonymous vandal using similar IP addresses, specifically the first component on the left. 91, 92, 178 have all been used at least twice each so far.

AC9016, as the vandalism is coming from quite a few different IPs, I have semi-protected this page for a week. This should help, but if vandalism continues when it expires and you think protection should be added again, please make a request on the administrators' noticeboard. Thank you! --Ferien (talk) 23:21, 10 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes, the anonymous vandal returned not long after the protected status expired, under the latest IP address, 95.55.133.219. I will need to post to the admin noticeboard. --AC9016 (talk) 02:21, 22 December 2022 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your assistance by the way. If you can semi-protect the page again until I can make a request and report on the noticeboard (that'll be tomorrow at this point) it would be greatly appreciated. --AC9016 (talk) 02:22, 22 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

Reported Repeat Vandalism

[edit]

I have reported repeat vandalism as occurring on this page on the appropriate noticeboard, and identified the latest IP address the anonymous vandal is operating under, 92.100.44.215. This is the 6th time that 92 has come up as the first component in the anonymous user's IP address, interestingly enough. Chances are they will simply switch to another soon, whether or not 92.100.44.215 gets blocked, as that has been their standard pattern so far. Whoever keeps doing this, they are REAL persistent, as I have tracked the vandalism occurring all the way back to November 2016 or so.

I am hoping for assistance and intervention from an administrator. I have no issue checking back on the page and reverting the vandalism, but protecting the page is the only way anonymous vandals will be denied access to it. AC9016 (talk) 06:39, 22 December 2022 (UTC)Reply

More repeat vandalism

[edit]
93.185.26.90- 3 September 2023 and 4 September 2023. I think it is safe to assume this is the same user, who, humorously, apparently took 3 months to notice the restriction on anonymous users editing this move's page after the protected status expired in June 2023. That restriction needs to be restored immediately. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Y Done - I've protected it again. ~ UDScott (talk) 14:06, 7 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
Late reply, but thank you for protecting this page. All is well so far. AC9016 (talk) 23:26, 3 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
